I'm going wherever the discussion is certainly, but I'm curious..  why the move?

This will be awesome if this is the last message ever in the thread.   lol

I'll be happy when NXT's exchange is up.  I hate entrusting my CC to a centralized exchange.

looks like it may frop back down to around 6000?

it will not survive 6000 this time, more like 2000 by monday
LMFAO ill eat my hat and leave this forum if it hits 2000 by monday. that how confident i am that all the above is just jealous desparate crys to try and deface nxt. i really do feel sorry for anybody that listens to this mule.
no body listens to him but yet he still trys to drag people down to his poor nxtless level

I DO listen to him... and then do the opposite.

He is just trying to lower the price ,maybe wants to buy more:),i would be happy if price go down again more people could get cheaper nxt myself included

I wish he waited until after I made my exchange.  Seems like it's been on the rise since I made my offer.   :/

Is Bter considered the best place to exchange into NXT?  I've seen a few people announce here that they're interested in acquiring, and I don't know if I should go ahead with Bter, or Cryptsy (Is one better than the other?).

I'm looking to exchange 5 BTC for the equivalent in NXT.
Personnaly, im using Bter for a long time and got no big problem with them.

Thanks!

Yeah bter works fine, but I also like vircurex.
They pay out almost instantly when you issue a withdrawal request. Bter is a little slower with withdrawals.

Hope this is no inconvenience for you.  https://vircurex.com/welcome/ann_reserved.html

It seems to me that it makes sense to make AE as popular as it possibly can be. If need be, it can be changed later, but you get one chance to make a first impression. There are people who can't get over Nxt's initial distribution, regardless of the current or potential future state. I think making the biggest splash, creating the most good will, and hopefully influencing the greatest amount of adoption, is what should be aimed for here.

The alternative could be to give up as little as possible, and give ground when the market forces you to, but perhaps always be seen as the Apple of networks. Rather than giving the most generous gift possible to the world, and then making adjustments along the way when needed. I could see there being lasting resentment regardless of the relative value one way, and lasting appreciation regardless of the relative value the other.

Do I understand correctly that there is concern about the fact that the "randomness" is actually pseudorandomness (i.e., it is deterministic, but not predictable)?

In this case, we can just put some "true randomness from the real world" in: take some parameter which is rapidly changing in time and is not controlled by one person or entity, and use it as an additional randomizer. For instance, total amount of all transactions (and/or fees) in the previous block could act as this randomizer.

I was wondering if in some cases the participants couldn't include a number that would be one of the factors contributing to the "randomness".  I've wondered about a decentralized heads up poker table, and if it could take some stats in the blockchain, combined with a number that each player may include before "shuffling".  I don't know if it would be necessary, but if each player could throw a factor in, I assume that could only help faith in it.

On a separate note, I am currently listening to the latest Sex & Science Hour on LTB!, and they mentioned how it seems there is nothing that can't be done on Nxt!  Just wanted to thank all you magicians hard at work here.  Your efforts are appreciated!

PS, I am looking for a web developer to give me a hand (well, haha, I need more than just a hand) in developing hashrate.org

This reminds me...  is there any plan for NXT to have anything like Namecoin's .bit registry?  If not, perhaps you might want to check on its availability too.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 21, 2014, 12:00:23 PM
Of course, if some insidious large NXT holders wanted to ensure your scenario, all they would have to do is offer a matching donation of NXT to the mining outputs.

I think just a % above to ensure highest ROI would do the trick, and be sustainable for the longest period.  Then again, I might just be thinking this way because I'm already completely jealous of those of you who can mine in these NXT pools.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT Asset Exchange (AE) Base Currency on: March 21, 2014, 03:19:14 AM
"Preferably NXT, but any other than FRNs" wasn't an option.  Presumably someone using AE has access to a computer and the internet, so figuring this out shouldn't be prohibitively difficult.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 21, 2014, 03:03:34 AM
I would hope for NXT denomination, & certainly not FRNs.  I understand why you wouldn't want to use another CC, but the CC with the largest market cap is probably best, as it is truly defined by market.  Gold would be preferable to FRNs, though its perceived value is manipulated as well.

I would like for us to try and come up with a "NXT Mission Statement".

The last thing I want to do is distract all you magicians from building NXT, but I just came across this on LTB! forum; http://ltbcoin.com/discussion/24/how-should-the-ltb-network-operate-please-check-out-bettermeans-open-enterprise-governance-model

I've never heard of BetterMeans, but perhaps it could be of some value here.

Nxt AT could bring lottery to Nxt.

I know its a simple idea, but I would like a Nxt lotto built into the clients. helps keep the Nxt circulating Smiley

+1

I think lotto would be a great idea, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to have it end like once a week.  Maybe Saturday, 2:00pm GMT.  Is it possible to have it conclude at a specific time like this?  Short term lottery may get some attention, but not like a once a week or more would, as the pot would inevitably get enormous.  People do things like travel to nearby states, or call their family & friends, to pick up lottery tickets when they get into a few hundred million.  If the payout was 99% to the winner, .05% to transaction fees, & .95% to a charity address which could be voted on by those who participate, this would be very unique, and positive.  Suddenly you'd see organizations publicize their NXT address along with their BTC.  If the first one was specified to be for Sean's Outpost, it could be announced with the start of the first lotto & that in and of itself would generate attention, good will, and of course, funds for a great cause.

Edit

It should probably be more like .0001%, or 0%, transaction fees as people don't need another reason to resent the initial investors NXT distribution.

i bought a lottery ticket, if i win big i will invest in nxt!
 Grin

What about Nxt Lotto?  A global lottery would be a huge draw, and make headlines, as no non-global lottery could compete.

What about Nxt Poker?  Cheesy  Make a cheaper online poker table, and you've got a huge market.

You tech heads on here have really dropped the ball on NXT. One you shouldn't have a thread with this many geeks discussing code to promote a coin.
Two you have all managed to create an environment that seems elitist and condescending. You have made it all seem so complicated for the average user that they eventually thought screw this i'm going to an easy to open platform clone of NXT.

I own a ton of NXT this hurts me personally. What the hell is going on here, this isn't a coding party wise up or recognize you guys need to change or this coin is in the toilet. Well done....

This thread is were the developers are talking difficult stuff, this thread is very important and let us peak inside of de development of Nxt. For the average Joe these forums are more easier to understand: http://www.nextcoin.org and https://forums.nxtcrypto.org. Good luck!  Smiley

Thanks for that!

Just picked up some more NXT during this sale.

Anyone know who (NXT account) is dumping NXT like that and how many NXT still left to dump?
That large amount of NXT selling would be better done off exchange. I think it may scare out a lot of people.

Is there such a thing as a localbitcoins for NXT?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 17, 2014, 12:05:21 AM
I'd love to mine for NXT, but I don't have a miner, nor any idea how to get one, or set one up..  Other than that, I'd be right there with you guys.

To the guy with the 15 year old who wants to learn code & work on CCs, I'd do whatever you can to encourage him or her to do so.  They'll figure it out for themselves if they need to take on other work to make money, but pursuing something you're really interested in..  That possibility is invaluable.  I concluded myself that I should focus on non-computer related work to make money.  I can't say I regret it, but 15 years old was a looooong time ago for me, and I can't tell you how many times I almost learned something to get distracted by girls, work, etc., and never got back around to it.

I'm very excited about all this decentralized tech stuff, and I decided to put virtually all of my non-BTC holdings in NXT.  I don't really get peoples' concern for the distribution.  That's probably the least important quality to me, but then I'm not looking to get rich, really.  I'm much more excited about the potential of the technology.  NXT seems to be the most exciting, and I can't wait to see the Zerocoin implementation.

I have a couple of questions..  How do I use the messaging on the NXT network?  Will it be easier, or less expensive, to acquire NXT when the exchange is open for business?  When will I be able to insert some of this paper money into my computer, and get some NXT, like in that gif I saw a little while ago?
