2  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp BLOCKs withdrawals to verified users on: February 28, 2014, 03:40:50 PM
Bitstamp = Mtgox 2.0 . I think they have financial problems which they don't share with their users. Now they come with excuses to delay withdrawals. Do you really think they didn't lose any money during the 'transaction malleability'. Their platform was vulnerable and every other vulnerable service lost some amount. I think they lost a lot but like gox they are trying to hide it.
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How many BTC's did you have stored at MtGox? on: February 25, 2014, 05:19:58 PM
0 btc 0$. I never keep money in exchanges.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gox Report stating it is 50% solvent? Thoughts? on: February 25, 2014, 04:13:02 PM
They underestimate their liability anyway…

744,408 BTC (MtGox av price 160 USD= 119,105,280 USD)

The real price is 500 USD if not more.

I think in the end they will offer users to withdraw fiat only and they will pay $100 - $150 per bitcoin or whatever was the last price. I also think that now they will try to sell their clients' bitcoins to other exchanges at $500+ . This is the only way they can pay. Either that or they will not pay anything to anyone.
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp - wanted to withdraw money and was hit with these weird KYC questions on: February 24, 2014, 11:09:00 AM
A small update from me. They agreed to cancel the sepa withdrawals and send me the bitcoins. Now I got back my bitcoins and I am done with bitstamp. I deactivated my account and just hope that they will delete the scans of my id card.

That's cool! Where are you planning to do your bitcoin business now? I was advertised bitcoin.de, do you think it would do?

I am still looking. I used a local service to withdraw a small amount but the prices there aren't very good. I have verified account in kraken I might try them. And yes I also heard that bitcoin.de is very good service. For now I am just trying to see what works best.
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there any reliable exchange already, for europeans? on: February 24, 2014, 12:10:09 AM
Most reliable exchange in Europe is bitcoin.de . It's very secure, customers are very satisfied for nearly three years - no hacks, no un-announced pauses, no delayed withdrawls. bitcoin.de is compliant with german law, the ceo is well known in the bitcoin-scene and beyond as a founder and businessmen, bitcoin.de persuaded the fidor bank to cooperate with bitcoin-companies, the support is famous to be fast - so yes, there is at least one really reliable exchange already.

I hear only good feedback about bitcoin.de lately. I think I should try them. There must at least one reliable service.

Unfortunately I don't know of any reliable exchange for all Europeans. I now use a local exchange which works only in my country. I know exactly where their office is and I can actually go there talk to them in person. The "big exchanges" as they call them seem extremely shady. We don't really know who stays behind them and where exactly are they located. I don't want to use such services. I hope that eventual regulation will bring honest and reliable exchanges in the market. This is still the biggest weakness of cryptocurrencies.

the exchange regulation bring in, will they give all user information to the regulation? for example, FBitcoinI Exchange? i am sure it helps to arrest any bitcoiner with a charge of money laundering

I think we need regulated exchanges with clear rules. The current shell companies and personal websites run by 10 years old are not the exchanges I want. I don't want to see more gox episodes in the future. It will destroy any confidence in bitcoin.

10  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Phone number for bitstamp on: February 22, 2014, 01:12:05 PM
I want to know that too. I was looking in google for their phone number but found nothing. They keep my money for their KYC bullshit questions, which I answered but 3 days already I have no answer to the ticket. I wanted to call their phone to speak with someone but it appears they have no phone. This company seems more and more shady.
11  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp Acting Very Strange : Heads Up on: February 21, 2014, 04:37:40 PM
I got the same problem. People who say this is OK are delusional and have no experience with large bank transfers. I totally agree with ab8989. When I receive large deposits in my bank account my bank usually asks me to fill a form to explain the source of the money. But that is the ONLY question they ask. I can fill in anything and they don't ask for any receipts or documents. If the bank suspects something they inform the proper authorities and then it is the authorities' job to investigate and ask questions. That is the normal practice all over the world. Bitstamp already has my ID card, an utility bill and all my banking information. It is enough even to steal my identity. There is no need for them to ask such idiotic questions. Now their support cannot handle all these tickets which were created by them. This is pathetic.

At my previous company, I sometimes would be required to send multiple wires in a day, often totaling $100,000-$200,000, to many different individuals and businesses.  When we first started doing this, I was required to fill out lots of paperwork, and even after that, I would randomly be asked to provide more information.  This was banking at one of the largest banks in the US.

What Bitstamp is doing may be a bit more than what an established bank would do, but they are trying to err on the side of caution.  Quit complaining.  Would you prefer they have their funds frozen and stolen, like Mt. Gox?

I don't know what are the practices in USA I live in the EU and I have received deposits of 10k+. As I said my bank has never asked me to answer idiotic questions like "Where did you hear about the USD" or "What are your future plans and activities planned on our Bank". They only asked me to fill in paperwork about the origin of the funds. Furthermore the amount I am withdrawing right now is $6000. I don't think it is so large amount.

On a side note I managed to withdraw all bitcoins I had in there, so bitcoin withdrawals are still working. I think to ask them to cancel the sepa withdrawal and give me the bitcoins. Now I use a local exchange. The only drawback with them is that they buy at 3% lower price than bitstamp. Anyway this is a price I am willing to pay to get my money on time.

I am curious why some people are acting like bitstamp advocates. I remember months ago people were protecting mtgox like they were holy and see where they are now. The fact with these exchanges is that once problems start to appear you must get away from them as fast as possible. It is a matter of time before all withdrawals stop.

Hello, I am new here but not new to bitcoin. I used mtgox for almost 2 years but with their recent problems I switched to bitstamp. I made several successful transactions with them but now they are asking me these same questions all of you received. I don't know what to do. I answered the best way I could, on questions 4 and 5 telling them that I will probably stop using them from now on. They want me to send them a scanned image of my international passport but I don't have one (which idiot came up with these demands?). Now I wonder what should I do. I have $7580 in there pending to be processed and this is a lot of money for me. I see some of you got this resolved in one week, did you send any documents or you just answered the questions? Thanks for any help.
