1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WTB Google+ invite on: June 30, 2011, 04:27:17 PM
I laugh at the people trying to make a quick buck out of selling the invites.

To all prospective buyers: the invites are free and unlimited to hand out by people with current Google+ accounts. You should be able to get them for free or a very nominal amount (read: dumbass above me is asking for too much).

why laugh? People want invites, and are willing to pay. I assume you're giving yours away for free?
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I feel it is my duty to warn you all. on: June 28, 2011, 03:58:21 PM
I notice that people get extremely defensive when someone makes a valid point such as the OP. I'm curious as to why? I'm not taking a stand here, or saying I agree/disagree with the OP, but why all the hostility?

How much money does Mt. Gox have? I see people posting about long delays in getting their cash out. Could this be a liquidity flag? Are they using up the cash that comes in to operate in hopes of paying off the orders?

Let's forget about the hack, that could have happened to anyone, but honestly what system is in place to ensure that any exchange doesn't just rack up the coins/cash and shut down over night?

Has it been agreed by the community that we simply have to trust an exchange in the name of bitcoin?

Again, these are just questions that I've had and every thread that starts to talk about it gets bogged down by people crying foul, etc. Why?

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So, how many of you were hoping the price would fall off a cliff? on: June 27, 2011, 03:41:57 PM
I was sitting on $13, sad it didn't happen that way.  However, as someone pointed out - the end result is a positive for Bitcoin.

Thanks to your incompetence and lack of pre-planning the majority of my online accounts at various websites including paypal and online banking have been compromised including my one unactive warcraft account. I got a call today that my identity might of been stolen as well. I swear to god if I ever see you fucks in real life you better run.

so what you're saying is you used the same password for everything?

I forgot to do this! Just here to support, too broke to buy and too broke to mine! So until I figure out how to make some coins, I'll keep helping out.

7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to get in today, what do I need to know? on: June 24, 2011, 10:30:30 PM
looks like I'm screwed tonight.

Dwolla requires bank interaction. I was hoping more for a paypal transfer

and they take 2-3 days.

Sad

anyone got any good news?

yup, that's what I was talking about.. takes some time.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to get in today, what do I need to know? on: June 24, 2011, 10:03:17 PM
Im guessing I just use my BTC address that bitcoin gave me.

Truecrpyt it and backup my wallet on flashdrive? gotta be safe here Wink

That, or use some online wallet service.  I personally found the advice in the securing your wallet sticky to be most helpful.  I use my daily wallet for small things, donations, etc, and my secure offline wallet for big deposits.

At this point I'm too broke to really benefit from the secure wallet, but it's there haha.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many coins can I get with my MHash?! on: June 24, 2011, 10:00:03 PM
Actually, not a bad calculation.  My 1.3GH gets me .94 per 24 hour period on btcguild and thats exactly what that site says I would get.

yup!  I decided that I wasting electricity mining after I found that site. lol. Oh well, at this point might as well buy coins vs. mining rig.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to get in today, what do I need to know? on: June 24, 2011, 09:58:09 PM
if you want to buy tonight you might be too late on the decision.  Dwolla takes about 2-3 biz days to clear your account, then another 2-3 biz days to post the funds from your account. Sending that over to TH or Gox might take another day?

I personally went Dwolla - > Exchange, but like I mentioned it takes time to fund it. If you haven't signed up on Tradehill the link in my sig will take you to that.

Good Luck & Welcome!
11  Other / Beginners & Help / How many coins can I get with my MHash?! on: June 24, 2011, 09:43:38 PM
I found this link in the marketplace forum, and I had been looking for something similar for days, so I just thought to share it here.  It might be common knowledge, but as a noob I didn't see any posts about it in this section.

Essentially, you input your MHash/s and get an idea of how much coin you can make in a given time frame.

not to hijack, but looking over that list for my personal gfx card, what am I looking for when deciding if it's "worth it".  For example I have a Nvidia 9800GTX, so are those stats in my favor?

You'll get about 35 mh/s
Its better than nothing!

If you're looking for a pool, check out Bitclockers Cheesy

Grats! I wish I could have made a coin this quick.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone help me calculate the Mhash for this setup? on: June 23, 2011, 07:09:54 PM
You don't even need 30 GB, max you need is 7 GB,
You don't need that good of a CPU.
2 GB RAM? I'd probably only get 512 mb or 768.
You don't need 850 wawtts.
You don't need a badass case.

this made me lol, but I would agree. If i was building for mining, and mining only, I wouldn't spend on the extra.
