I have owned both and can say the avalon is better at not breaking.
This is the most important aspect of buying a miner for me. Its just that i have not owned anything aside from bitmain gear so wasnt sure about longevity of other miners from other companies. If miner lasts at least a year i will be in profit, ofc ideally it should last 2.5 years in average. Also i dont have to sell what i mined, i can wait for years untill the right price. Also it would be good if spare parts were easy to obtain in case something needs to be replaced. Only other thing i have to consider is a crazy diff increase. Avalons seem to be the cheapest atm so i guess they would be a good pick. Only problem is im from Europe so a unit of a1166 81th that is priced atm 1337$ will cost me close to 2100$ after shipping and vat. |

As Philipma said, So a 38 watt per th
is better than a 29 watt per th
if the 38 watt gear never breaks.
IE:
an avalon 1246 87 th at 38 watts a th
is better for me than a s19 110th at 29 watts a th. is one of the main reasons I stopped using Bitmain miners after batch-25 of the s9 series. Just too many hash boards dying. Up to the s9 they were much much more reliable. Switched to the Avalon's starting with a couple 721's and never looked back. Out of several dozen of the Avalon miners over the years only 1 failure and that was the fan on 741 - which even after 2 years Canaan replaced no-charge. These days it seems that the PSU's are the main failure area und ja, Bitmain has the same issue (along with other problem areas) as do the Whatminers. Sorry for ot but i see you have alot of avalons and i have my eye on A1166pro series. Do you have any of those and would you recommend them? |

I guess im mostly worried about buying a series with bad reputation. For example, s9 series was indestructible but s9k was awful, also s17 series had a bad rep. Are there any models/series of miners nowadays that have a high failure rate and should be avoided?

So if you had access to free power which miners would you buy?
Obviously you would like as many th possible for as little price as possible. Also there is question of quality of miner and how long will it last. Most expensive miner would be the one which stops working after couple of months.
Any suggestions?

Does anyone own a A 1126 Pro-S model? How do they perform? They seem to be alot cheaper then other models with similar hashrate so im wondering why is that?

So after turning off the miner with virus i was hoping everything will be fine but after 10 days the virus appeared on another miner.
Tried to hard reset and update firmware but now hardware version and bmminer version do not show up and kernel log says: bmminer not found, restart bmminer so i cant even connect anymore. Any ideas what to try? I will buy sd card and reader this week if stores open up( partial lockdown here due to covid19) and try to flash via sd card.
I have to isolate miners with virus but dont know which ones have it, how do i find that out? If they all have it by now then why is the virus idle for so long? Why doesnt it screw all miners asap?
If i try to put the latest bm firmware from august 2019 with enhance anti-virus capability and secure firmware with signature, SSH port is closed, would that protect me from further issues with this virus?
Also, in administration when you change the password, you put different password for every miner?

First i would like to thank you all for trying to help me out.
I will get an sd card and try what you told me. For now i just replaced control board because i have some spare ones.
What puzzles me is where the virus came from because i scanned my computer and didnt find any viruses. Maybe my antivirus protection is not good enough.
Also i remembered that i did add one new unit couple months ago but that unit doesnt seem to be infected. Is it possible that it is infecting my other units but not showing any signs of infection itself?

All of my miners are second hand bought, but last time i bought any was one year ago. And this started only few weeks ago. First time i couldnt resolve the issue so i just took hashboards out of the s9 and put them in others that had a dead board. But now its happening again and i dont have a clue what to do.

Hi. So my antminer s9 is set to mine on poolin but it switched from poolin to nicehash on its own and i never had account on nicehash. Under miner configuration it is set on poolin but when i go to miner status i see this: stratum+tcp://sha256.hk.nicehash.com:3334#xnsub35TVW8JXxnrPviwyZoRbtNfs2RD1vXNRu1 So i guess my miner is mining for someone else? Reboot or unplug doesnt change anything. If someone has any advice how to fix this i would appreciate it. |

Why is the price of avalon 1246 90th much lower than the price of similar products from rival companys like bitmains s19 95th or t17 84th or whatsminer m30s 90th?
Is it true that in general avalon products have better longevity than whatsminer products and whatsminer products have better longevity then bitmain products? if so than whats the catch?
I personally dont care about power consumption of miners but i do care about the price and even more about the longevity of the product because with current market prices of new miners plus all the import taxes that one needs to pay, you need almost a year to break even.

Imam prilično velik i prozračan prostor u kojem i sam rudarim.
Nudim prostor te plaćene režije u zamjenu za određeni postotak onog što izmajnate.
Poželjno bi bilo da imate više rigova te da isti nisu prestari odnosno da kartice ne daju premalo hasha.
Također poželjno bi bilo da ste iz Rijeke ili okolice s obzirom da ćete sve potencijalne promjene i preinake na svojim rigovima raditi vi sami.
