... We can only wait and hope and build distributed/decentralized exchanges ...

There will be some major hacks before its done Wink. But yes full ack.

... Some people send the funds from other non-private key controlling services. ...
A bank will refund my funds very quickly if it is obvious that their system or my account got hacked and I'm not fault at that.
Obviously the current event is a system hack, so they should be able to refund customers very quickly.
Special accounts / addresses have to wait. They should have i plan for me and not the other way around.

- Investigation progress report hourly / daily
Provide your customers more information, you are not a bank.

Yes! I want to see as a customer what their plan is and what they are doing.
If they can't provide me any valuable or garbage information then i will assume they don't have a plan.
They don't know how to handle it and why should i ever put money on that exchange again?

"About 19.000 BTC stolen, Business suspended. We'are investigating!"
I can teach my parrot to say that. Next day my parrot may say it in reversed order.

... Maybe the hacker is holding them for ransom with the explicit demand they not talk...
If their lawyer told them not to tell, then tell us that their laywer told them not to.
An exchange don't deal with hackers. Business with malicious hackers?
Oh dear that consequence ...

It is best opportunity to proof themselves as the best exchange but they handle it like GOX.
Can you imagine stamp handle it so well that the normal business can continue after only a few hours?
Now the "financial world" hold still. Not stamp but bitcoin seems to be a joke. I'm sad.

I can't say what they could have done, because they didn't tell us what they have already done.
Don't you dare mention that solvency report! Don't you fucking dare!

Before:
- Code Audit
- Penetration tests
- Monitoring 24/7
- Plan B to keep normal business alive.

After:
- Instant refund customers while investigating
requires Plan B + solvent. That should not be a problem for stamp ...
- Investigation progress report hourly / daily
Provide your customers more information, you are not a bank.

btw i don't believe them and all the "hacks".
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I invested in bitcoin on: January 04, 2015, 04:22:32 AM
The people here clearly do not understand what "investment" is.

Investment is a claim on long-term cash flow from a security. Bitcoin has no cash flow. You cannot "invest" in Bitcoin - or in gold, or in a fiat currency, for that matter. You can save, hoard or speculate in these things - but you cannot invest in them.

If you bought bitcoins because you thought they were going up in price, you were speculating. If you bought them because you thought they were useful technology and the future belongs to them, you've made an expenditure - just like when buying a new computer or an electric car or whatever.

If you are staring at your "paper loss" because Bitcoin is now worth less in some fiat currency than when you bought it, you've just made an unsuccessful speculation. Live with it - speculators do that all the time. If you think that Bitcoin is less useful now than when you bought it (or hasn't served your needs for the time you've owned it), then you've simply made a bad purchase - people do that all the time. If neither is the case, then why would its exchange ratio with fiat currencies matter to you?

now finally some words with sense.

as a programmer this "challenge" is just stupid.

"Hell yeah! I generated my public key with some software. Cool right?"
"Hey folks look this is my public key! Now try to crack my public key!"
"HAHA You can't! Because my software is so super secure."

No your software is not bugfree and not seucre, but that well known algorithm/concept is.

"Yeah But ... But... your fiat stink and fiat is not seucre. Your fiat can't do that."

I'm also afraid of bank robberies, because that's the way i will lose my money and not on some exchanges.
Do you mean that 5 bucks in my pocket? Oh well yeah I could afford to lose that 5 bucks.
At least not losing my money consistently. BTC to the moon.
I could not afford to lose my private key and this responsibility all by my own!

"I mean the internet you dumbass, YOUR CC INFORMATION and STUFF."

brain + livelinux cd -+ vpn.

"Whatever! Angry A lot of people downloaded my file!"

Yeah good for you. If you put 200.000 -  500.000 BTC in that wallet, you may rise someones attention to crack that wallet.
btw i think that wallet encryption is symmetric. I really hope you used a long complex password!

I like your post, really! It's so lyrical (not in a sarcastic way), but ppl lost their money on GOX and they just continue buying?
I would try to recover my money first and wait for some really positiv siginals. Maybe that's just me :/ arrrgh
10  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: irc Chat with KARPELES(MtGox) from today 25th Feb on: February 26, 2014, 01:29:47 AM
Are everybody just gone INSANE??

I hope you all know he is talking about his own wallet (unavailable), not the one from the company.
Mark just verified that MtGOX lost 700k BTC. Why is price shooting up?

Don't friggen tell me that's actually a good news  Angry
