1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: September 04, 2013, 04:00:26 AM
I just had an avalon that was running fine for weeks suddenly stop working Sad

Red/yellow lights are on. The miner starts but it never does any work (hashrate is 0)

Where should I start looking for the problem?

I had one do something similar. It turned out to be a bad USB cable connection inside of the case. The cable that runs from the built-in router to the front of the case makes poor contact with the hub where all of the power and data cables connect. Try pushing the cable to the right or left of the socket. My theory is the vibration of the fans eventually wiggled the cable enough to get it to disconnect. Good luck!

Woke up this morning with a very similar issue, on B3 unit running 20130821 firmware and LAN connection. I've been using SilverStone 1500W PSU so don't think PSU is the problem. I've opened Avalon up and the blue LED doesn't seem to be flashing anymore! It only does one brief flash when reconnecting the USB cable (to check the connections). Tried couple of different USB cables with the same results. Not sure, but looks like my TL-WR703N could be dead? I'm thinking the quickest solution might be connecting directly to PC to mine that way, cos looks like ordering a replacement TL-WR703N from Ebay would take ages to arrive. How do I connect avalon to computer via USB and mine that way? or any other ideas?

Just wanna say that I have been mining with this pool for last several blocks but Im not sure if I'm gonna continue as can't undenstand (and do not trust) the new scoring system. It was a great pool before and love the website, but I rather to keep things simple and not planning on doing a maths degree to work out how the scores are calculated. Just wonder how many people here do actually understand it and more importantly how many people support it.

Payout from the EU pool is visible now in my client (11 more blocks needed).
http://blockexplorer.com/b/134233

I didn't get any payout for my unpaid EU balance yet, and my address isn't showing up in that block.
If this block is indeed from EU, it seems that the pool was withholding more than 50BTC and is still withholding the remainder.

Edit: News:

[17:54] <ulee> Am I right with the assumption, that after the the server is fixed and another block is found, the EU payouts will happen for real? (Yes, I know there's "Europe balances were paid off Friday morning." in the topic, but apparently this didn't happen.)

[17:54] <@luke-jr> ulee: I might have to fire up the EU bitcoind again to rexmit it

It's Monday here already and still haven't got the EU server payout. The arrangements should've been clearly outlined on the websie from the begining (before the EU server shut down) and then updated with any changes. I'm done mining with Eligius - it's a f*king joke with pretty graphs.
4  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Eligius pool - what happened to all the sub 1BTC on: June 30, 2011, 12:35:45 PM
You should have a bit more faith after the US server paid out.

The send time will be Thursday but you'll probably see it around Friday.

As far as I can see the Eligius is run by a bunch of croocks. I haven't been payed either and I'm sick of waiting. They have no right to hold on to the money after they shut down the server. What's more they are too arrogant to post any explenation on their website. I'm done mining for them.

Anyone else still waiting for EU or US server payouts to arrive?

My EU server balance page has been showing "unknown server" (link:http://eligius.st/~artefact2/eu/1F7NjSP5mN3s8C8c64R77ye4mdJEBimzmj) for last couple of days, yet I'm still to receive my EU payout. I've been checking windows bitcoin client but still nothing. I've checked the Eligius main page and the FAQ but there seems to be no mention of the issue. How can they just shut down the server (including individual accounts) before making sure everyone has been paid out correctly? There must be hundreds who haven't mined for awhile but will never be able to check their old balance or to prove they ever had any.

I'm still waiting for my .7BTC (from memory) but it's been over 2 days now and I'm starting to get a bit impatient.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: RAM Underclocking ClockTweak v0.7.4b - does it tell the truth? on: June 18, 2011, 04:02:30 PM

From what I understand the 6990 memory can not be underclocked to 300mhz the same way as with the older cards. I think the 6990 can only work reliably with near stock clock of 1250mhz but the core can be overclocked a bit. Mine works reliably up to 920mhz without crashing too much.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 3 Radeon 6990, need Power Supply and proper CPU on: June 18, 2011, 03:51:13 PM
I can use a 1600W power supply, but I fear this may be oversaturated too (but I'm open to underclocking the CPUs)

1600W power supply would be only enough for 2x6990s. It would be a waste to use three of them and underclock so much. It be much better to get extra power supply and use it for the third 6990. That way you can get the full potential from all the GPUs.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 6990 x3 overclocking issue on: June 18, 2011, 03:44:48 PM
Hi all. Running 3 6990s overclocked. Initially all 6 cores start mining at around 400 mhash but after a few min the total hash rate drops to about 1800. Some run about 350 others below 250. If i kill one of the miners the others the pick up the slack of the killed miner to get back to the same hash rate.

Anyone running into this? Ive tried all sorts of ovrrclocking and aggression settings. What info can i provide that would be useful for advice?
Using aticonfig and amdoverdrivectrl with phoenix.

I found that I have to restart aticonfig sometimes when it looses the clock settings. This can happen when switching monitors or just randomly even. Another issue can be that the clock rate can drop automatically when the card is overheating.

I have spent hours on these forums over last few weeks - just never bothered to create a username and login. Not that I wanna post something I just found out about these restrictions. Wish I knew about it before.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The government and bankers have won. on: June 18, 2011, 03:28:54 PM
Well, the banks I cant attest victory or defeat to, but i can say as far as governments go, they cant win the fights with thier own currencies, let alone bitcoins.

Bitcoins have something that the world has almost forgotten the true concept of. The free market.

The real death of the the bitcoin will be when u can start depositing them in chase bank and use them at 7-11 for a soda

This is true. No government has been able to defeat P2P network so this is the strenght of bitcoin. The internet and P2P are here to stay. Down with the Matrix

At the moment BTC seems to be going down. Hope it turns around soon.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: need your help, 0.2btc reward! on: June 18, 2011, 03:16:33 PM
i read about bitcoin and started pool mining a while ago. i also earned some btc .... 0.8BTC to be exact. so i'm fuckin rich!
since it took my pc ages to mine these 0.8btc and i can't stand the noisiness in my room anymore i decided to stop mining and let me payout my reward from to pool. no problem with this part so far.
but i still want to stick with bitcoins... so today i thought "i have 0.8btc. why not try trading on mtgox?"
the problem is, when you click on "add funds" at mtgox and enter 0.8btc mtgox will respond with "looool...try 1 btc at least, idiot!" ......yay \(-_-)/
so i need another 0.2 btc to transfer at least 1 btc to my mtgox account. i could mine them in the next view decades BUT then i saw the minium withdraw on mtgox is 0.01btc!

So here is my offer:
please send me 0.2btc to 1372R1CvRSftYUGVXeBUYGxn9daCM2dNhM, so i can transfer one btc to mtgox. in return, when the 1 btc arrived at mtgox, i will withdraw 0.4btc from mtgox back to you!
basically this means i will double your investment of 0.2btc and i will loose 25% of my balance...win-win....ha! -_- but i really just want to try out mtgox without investing real money, so i'm okay with it Smiley

first come first serve! if it happens that more than one sends 0.2btc to me, i will refund them immediately. i also will immediately announce it here, when the offer is closed.

you can see my account on blockexplorer, the 0.8btc is my entire balance and the single transaction is the payout from the pool a week ago:
http://blockexplorer.com/address/1372R1CvRSftYUGVXeBUYGxn9daCM2dNhM

ps: send 0.21btc if you want me to use 0.01btc as transaction fee setting, when i transfer the 1btc to mtgox. otherwise i will use 0.00 as transaction fee and the process might take longer (that's what the bitcoin client says in settings->options)

pps: to scammer-screamers: take it or leave it. i know this is my first post in this forum, but why should put that much effort into scamming someone for just 0.2btc??

yeah right
