1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WorldCoin WDC | The Global Digital Currency on: April 07, 2014, 04:37:05 AM
How come my wallet doesn't like to sync? Everytime I open it up, it shows that it is syncing for ~100-200 blocks, and then it stops. It get's further along each time, but why does it stop syncing? It doesn't make it 100% of the way: The bar shows that it's ~85% full. Currently on block ~106000

Oh ha, I thought this topic was gonna die out when I didn't get any replies. Then one of the calendar dudes hit me saying that he was gonna take my coin off his calendar if I didn't confirm the coin. Lulz.

Thanks, gonna make the switch Smiley

The instructions are good, but are solely for terminal based Linux installs. Below are the instructions for BAMT 1.5: I run everything off of a USB thumbdrive Cheesy

Note: I highly recommend using Pastebin and copying/pasting these instructions along with your favorite CGMiner config. BAMT comes with Iceweasel browser, and from Pastebin you can copy/paste the apt-get and git clone commands into BAMT, as well as copy/paste your cfg file.

1. Shut down all mining processes via BAMT Start Menu > BAMT Control > Stop Mining Sessions
2. Open Terminal via BAMT Start Menu > Accessories > Root Terminal
3. In terminal, type the following and then hit enter: sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev pkg-config libtool libncurses5-dev libudev-dev
4. Go to BAMT Start Menu > Accessories > File Manager
5. In File Manager, click the "OPT" shortcut on the left-hand column, and then open the "miners" folder.
6. Right click and rename the "cgminer" folder to "cgminer.old"
7. Right click empty space, and create a New > Folder , naming it "cgminer" (without quotes)
8. Back in your terminal window, type the following and hit enter: cd /opt/miners/cgminer
9. In terminal, type the following and hit enter: git clone https://github.com/Kalroth/cgminer-3.7.2-kalroth
10. Back in File Manager, open the "cgminer" folder, and then open the "cgminer3.7.2-kalroth" folder.
11. Select all the files (CTRL+A), then Cut the files (CTRL+X)
12. Take a step back to the "cgminer" folder, and Paste the files (CTRL+V)
13. Take another step back into the "miners" folder, and then open the "cgminer.old" folder
14. From the "cgminer.old", open the "APL_SDK" folder
15. Select all the files in this folder, and Cut or Copy them (CTRL+X for cut, CTRL+C for copy)
16. Head back into your "cgminer" folder (/opt/miners/cgminer), and open the APL_SDK folder here
17. Paste (CTRL+V) the files you copied from the "cgminer.old/APL_SDK" folder into this one
18. Go back to the Terminal window, then type the following and press enter: ./autogen.sh --enable-scrypt --enable-opencl
19. Once the process is completed, in the terminal window, type and press enter: make
20. The miner has now been setup. You can alter your config file by going File Manager > bamt (shortcut in left hand side colum) > Then double-click the cgminer.conf file
21. Once everything is setup, go to BAMT Start Menu > BAMT Control > Restart mining sessions
22. If you want to view the typical CGMiner window, open up terminal and type: screen -r    (Keep using the command until CGMiner shows up)

Several features, including the xintensity first came in kalroth, it is better looking, more and better detailed too, but it lacks linux support. On win boxes I'm always kalroth

I run Kalroth's fork in BAMT with no issues. Three separate R270 rigs.

The whole pool is now running on the new stratum server (woo woo!)

I'll keep watching it over the coming hours to make sure everything looks good, but so far, looks awesome Smiley

I'm still getting virtually no rejected shares. I must be that good  Cool
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 18, 2014, 07:01:42 PM
Any one having any regrets for not mining at dedicated litecoin pool? Litecoin is rising fast on huobi news.

Sure we regret not making the maximum amount of money possible from our rigs but if we could know the future we would not be mining at all.
We would already be rich... so no point in crying over spilled milk. Just use some of your earned btc and buy LTC before it "goes to the moon".

Frankly, just cause it's getting a pump doesn't mean it's going to the moon. For the longest while, I kept pool hopping coin to coin, watching and trying to guess where the next pump was going to occur, but frankly it's pretty much impossible to correctly guess the next pump (you need inside info).

If anything, the pump on litecoin right now might be bad for it in the long run: Each and every coin wishes for stability not volatility, whether it's for becoming an asset or actual currency replacement. A pump on litecoin with no relation to other coin market values going up just means to me that there is a whale pumping, and an unfortunate dump is on its way.

*Edit*
To whit, it's probably gonna happen right now:
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Am I too late? on: March 16, 2014, 04:56:49 AM
Is this guy for real? You seriously compared BTC farming where you are guaranteed to earn 20%+/- less every 10 days? And if the difficultly increase is gonna average out to 25% (which is more than plausible) you'll never see ROI.
I like it how you causally type that you'll make 14$ a day as if it's a constant.

If you wanna unplug your rig and sell it, than by all means, but from there to buying an antminer as if it's something profitable and so much better... lol.

Dude probably wasn't using a calculator with a difficulty chart. Difficulty for Bitcoin mining has been pretty steady: Just up up and up.

For example, Bitmain just released their 1TH machines (1000w usage, comes with the PSU). After meeting ROI on them, you'll MAYBE make ~$1,000 on them, after having spent ~$4000 for the miner itself. $1,000 isn't small money, but if you want mining to become a day-job, you either need to have the dough to invest a ton up front, or know how to make your own chips.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 14, 2014, 02:07:28 AM
Nonsense. Nobody else has the kind of stock newegg does. Also, if you are a premier member, it makes shipping and returns much easier to deal with. They used to be a pain, the premier thing really made things better. I've been buying lots of GPUs for months, nobody else ever has stock, or limits you to one card at a time.

I'd fight that with saying that while sometimes their stock is good, returns with them is a pain in the butt. I buy mostly Amazon, knowing that I'm only going to have to pay shipping costs for returning anything I get via Prime. And Prime is 10x better then NewEgg. NewEgg shipping used to be so good: Now if I order on a Monday, I get my stuff on Friday :/

I quite literally live as far East Coast as you can in the US.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 14, 2014, 01:37:56 AM
I think this will be completely dependent on your price of power.  It can range from 5 cents to 40+ cents per kwh depending on where you are, and that can be enough to make GPUs profitable for many months to come, or not at all right now.

Yep, I agree. $0.137/kw here. Not the best, but it's not horrible..
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 14, 2014, 01:23:40 AM
Altcoins are anything but independant of BTC. The recent slump is to be expected when BTC falls upon hard times in the public eye - less speculators with faith in BTC means even less speculators buying up cheap altcoins.  Scrypt ASICs from gridseed are also playing part, very likely.

If your power is expensive, scrypt mining with GPUs may soon be (or already be) unprofitable for you.  Such is reality.

My personal goal is to get to 25% ROI, at which point I feel "safe". I feel from that point on, I can at least break-even on selling parts and what not, and all my rigs were just a fun hobby. Hard to say of course, since the market would be flooded with people selling off their gear, but we'll see just how much longer GPU mining can hold out for.

I think a big step forward would be for multipool's to stop coin dumping and attempt more long-term profitability methods. What those are, I don't know, but we're killing coin values.

Don't worry about Gridseed's too much: Worry about 2nd generation when they start coming.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL][PROFIT-SHIFT] Coinshift.com, the first profit-shifting multipool on: March 13, 2014, 08:01:14 PM
It feels fishy... Is profitability really at 0.00722/BTC per MH/s while Clever's is at 0.00590?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: March 12, 2014, 01:18:47 PM
Per worker hashrates have been added to our stats page.

They've also been added to the API that people are using (shouldn't break anything they're using).

I'll notify Wil and let him know Smiley

I woke up this morning to that sexiness. So awesome.

Is it just me ? No graphs on waffle stats??

Pfft, graphs. Check your Hashrate, WU, HW, etc, for the most accurate representation I would say. Graphs are just eye candy.

I've noticed you've just implemented the per worker stats, just to confirm for anyone reading, it's still fine to point multiple rigs at a single BTC address?

Don't forget that you can have separate workers for the same BTC address if you use and underscore character. For example, to discern between rigs R270-1, R270-2, etc, you would make each rig's worker as so:
  • YourBTCAddress_R2701 for the R270-1
  • YourBTCAddress_MySecondRig for the R270-2
  • Etc

Yep this would be really smartass way of mining Maxcoins for dev Grin after 5 days he can run away with a nice profit.
Hmm, I'm not sure how much money he can actually make off maxcoin currently. It's not even worth the electricity atm, lol.

He'll pretty much collapse the coin. The developer isn't even trying to qualm anything about it NOT being Maxcoin and there is no transparency here, so I'm done "mining" this coin. BTW, anyone know how to get a chart of Maxcoin's network hashrate? Pretty sure it'd be easy to pinpoint this and get rid of this scam, if it is indeed one, before the next 5 days are up.

Anyone got settings for CUDAMiner + 750Ti on Keccak? I'm getting a bunch of "result for none does not validate on cpu!" errors with k1000x24 :/ . Even k600x24 says I'm using too much memory
