1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla may once again accept bitcoin payments whether this is capital snobbery or on: May 11, 2024, 07:57:07 PM

Is this capital support for BTC or the hot event of BTC again? Which leaves us guessing

Not a hot event at all, please think it through: How many of the people holding a large amount of Bitcoin are going to want to use it to buy an expensive car? Probably not enough to ever make a big impact.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: March 19, 2024, 04:48:34 PM
The price set-back was expected, no concern here: 100 a day will be a big amount & good for me. I'm in, thank you for the great idea!
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Indicator for Trading in Stock Market on: September 07, 2023, 03:25:22 PM
(You could say they are rebranding and selling info you can get for free)
Imo, you will never find a single Best Indicator for trading any market. "Trading is an art, not a science." fyi: Prior to huge moves, there is usually a fake start in the other direction. When the short to medium-term traders are caught reversing those positions, those extra trades add fuel to the new move.

This thread started so long ago, and it is in "Games and Rounds", so I'm not sure what is here. You are not a casino, but a free BTC faucet still up and running, is that correct? thank you.

Would Bitcoin become The General Currency in the Future?

Do we even want BTC to be THE General Currency in the Future?
A Global, One-world currency where all transactions are public and traceable? Is that the best thing for the average person in the future?

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exactly how does BTC development go on, if the current group all quits or dies? on: January 23, 2022, 01:26:51 PM
putting it simply with 'core' having the major power play on what new updates can change the protocol. agreed en-mass, quickly.

if Wlad disappeared without passing on access to the core github repo. or github just froze access to the github repo of core. bitcoin will continue under its current version, without updates for a while.

whilst devs then re-organise under a new development tool platform and regain the trust of the community that their new platform access of sourcecode/new versions has no bugs/flaw/trojans.

this will take a little time for a new trusted power base to form which can have the same power to make updates the community follow en-mass (auto-majority).

bitcoin wont cease to function as a network. just a lengthy delay between new updates

Thank you for those newbie friendly details, if I had rep to give you I would.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exactly how does BTC development go on, if the current group all quits or dies? on: December 12, 2021, 06:25:26 PM
Technically Bitcoin development stops if all the dev's stop or leave....

Thank you, now we are very close to the exact topic: A small group of core devs actually release the code, who takes over if they are gone?

its open source.  the codes already released.

I think the OP is asking about what happens if the core Dev team is all gone.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's 2020 and you can create your own stable coin with just a few commands on: February 10, 2020, 10:32:02 PM
“Anyone can spin up and use a smart chain and stablecoin,” ...
Can you help me understand the potential market for more "stablecoins", if they are easy to clone and always the same fiat value, then what possible unique value do they have?

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.1 BTC Puzzle by Phemex on: January 22, 2020, 03:47:00 AM
To solve this problem :

1)

Download PARI/GP

2)

Calculate e as accurate as you want, even 1 million digits do not take very long. You just have to establish enough memory with allocatemem()

3)
Convert each block of length 21 that does not begin with a 0

with the command isprime(,2) which is a rigorous primality test. The best way is probably to create an array with the digits-command.

4)

The first such block is the answer.

I did not post the full code, but I mentioned the necessary commands. I want to leave a little work to the OP.
