2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: January 07, 2021, 10:53:14 PM
Looks like tariffs have now hit gpu prices. Zotac, Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI all raised prices $30-$150 from what I can see. Not sure on EVGA. Hoping they assemble either in the US or Taiwan and don't have to raise prices.  Should be in line for a xc3 gaming 3080 from their que soon.

I picked up a Gigabyte Vision 3080 at a Microcenter while visiting family. Gonna be adding it on Wed. I really don't want to void the warranty and replace the thermal pads.

It does match the rig I am putting it in.  Moving a 5700xt and a 5700 out to an open air rig.  I think I could add 2 fans on the bottom that I removed when I added the 5700.  Hoping I don't lose to much in throttling.

If I can grab a 3060ti or 3070 I have a rig with a 1660 ti and a 1060 6gb that I will sell to offset some of the upgrade cost.

I saw some news about TSMC ending discounts to largest customers and raising some prices due to offer-demand and their production is at 100%, add this to the world situation of Covid, shippings are more expensive, people are buying a lot of hardware to work from home, mining is hot again and soon we'll see higher prices on almost every piece of hardware

Asus already said here about the increase of MSRP: https://videocardz.com/newz/asus-officially-increases-graphics-cards-and-motherboards-pricing

So, it's better to buy right now because it looks like this year will be very expensive to buy hardware and gadgets

Nvidia will launch 3060 6gb - 12gb, and 3080 super - ti, imagine the price os these cards  Angry

I think I read that the 3060 12gb will start at $449.  Supposed to be faster for gaming but with a smaller 192 mem bus than the  3060 ti.

I wonder how it will hash? 45mh? 50mh?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 Announced on: November 06, 2020, 10:22:30 PM
have anyone seen real hashing of 3950? On the internet values are sooo different, starting from 13khs up to 20khs...like whats the stock clock hashrate with good board/mem timings, but WITHOUT OVERCLOCK...

13500 slight downclock.  I had one sold it.

I set power to 1.01 volts and freq to 2900
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need some advice on cooling in extreme heat (Kuwait) on: August 25, 2020, 10:48:01 PM
okay if the exhaust fans pull 5000 cfm you will need intake fans of 4.5 to 5.5 cfm.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan's Dormant accounts waking up finally on: August 01, 2020, 03:51:55 PM
Interesting for sure. I'm getting an increasingly strong feeling a wild BTC ride is on the way, and dormant addresses waking up is making me even more confident. Do addresses that have received BTC count as "dormant addresses" as well though, or is it just addresses that have not made any kind of txs in a while?
i think no withdrawals are what make it dormant
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upgrade Stole My Bitcoin on: July 13, 2020, 07:03:06 PM
It's my first message and I'm crying...

I had about 3.5 bitcoin, I tried to use some a short while ago and got a message that there is a compulsory upgrade.

I downloaded and installed the upgrade on my iMac, restarted Electrum, and then it happened...

It immediately said there was not enough funds to transfer the amount of ALL my coins but continued trying to process it until it eventually said there is a zero balance.

BOOM! EVERYTHING IS GONE!!

:-(

Okay I will assume op is telling the truth.

Lesson number 1) do not have all your coins in 1 wallet

10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: the usa is technically not a nation, its a geographic cooperation on: July 13, 2020, 06:50:54 PM
USA is like the European Union.

EU has 28 states: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia..

USA has 50 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware...

Well can you get in a car and drive across the eu with out border checks?
Or do you need to show papers to cross from one country to the next?

The USA allows driving from state to state without a border check.

To be frank having lived in the USA for 61 of 63 years it is not very united at the moment.
11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New s9 upgrade thread. Some info is 🆙❤⚡ on: July 11, 2020, 10:24:32 PM
they monitor thread.

I would think if they want to do sales here they can post.

They told me 600 board minimum.
1/2 up front. 118 usd a board.

maybe they will offer a sale thread.
but for me in the usa they are not a fit .  maybe they are a fit for you.

they are using the shell and the controller along with fans.

and the wires .

Semantically speaking s9 up grade is kind of accurate. your name is also accurate.

but my conditions were not to reveal builder so if he wants to post and try to do  sales he will do so not me.

He knows it is not a fit for me.

I posted in a thread, and later I got an email notification that someone else posted in that thread too when I opened this guy or these guys are discussing, I felt something is going on there as seeing their similar activity, when I opened their last post, they were involved in a similar trend in other threads too, where someone makes a comment first and then the other guy quotes the first one and make a reply and this goes on. I see their last 20 posts where they have followed a similar trend.

13  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling olive oil on: July 03, 2020, 07:41:14 PM
Okay so this comes from Italy and is cold pressed extra virgin?

I can get 2 liter for 20.00 usd with free shipping

This is not to say my deal is better as many olive oils have various qualities.

So why is your oil worth 15 usd for 1/2 liter? Plus shipping .

Also is your oil on the green Grass with hot  pepper finish side of the scale taste wise.

or the smooth buttery taste finishing taste.

Over the years most oil available to me has drifted toward grassy green with pepper finish.

So if you told me your oil has the more ripened taste with a buttery finish I would possibly  want to try it.
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 03, 2020, 07:37:12 PM
Flat line bitcoin price.
Price appreciation #SOON...
Inexorable!!!

Just reading an article suggesting we should be at $12,000 right now, that it’s a fair price. Article says we should break upwards soon as the BTC 90-Day active supply has soared to pre-2017 bull run levels.

I’m itching for a fresh HOPIUM injection so hope the above plays out.

We frequently get dumps during long holiday weekends, but hey, we sometimes get pumps too..

Gosh, I am not even sure if I am mentally capable of making any kind of prediction regarding the odds of pumps versus dumps for this particular weekend... or another possibility is that we remain flat.. cannot really rule out flat, either... how about price movement does not count as either a pump or a dump unless it can at least achieve 2%... which would be about $200-ish... so I am going to say $8800-$9,300 is flat.. and if it breaks above or below that range, then we have either a dump or a pump, respectively...

Let's say that the weekend ends at 00:00 UTC monday.. or is that too screwed up to drag the weekend for so long?  Weekly and daily candles close at 00:00 on Sunday.. but are we talking about candles or actually the ability to transfer money after the banks open back up?

So could we substitute 50/50 for 33.3/33.3/33.3.... does that even add up?... maybe I could give an additional .1 to whichever one that we believe to be most likely... it's easier to dump than pump when the banks are closed, but we have stable coins that are supposed to be 24/7...

I am refusing to answer the question, and I prefer to just wait and see... and then after it happens (whatever "it" ends up being), to proclaim, "who could have known?"!!!!!    Tongue Tongue

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

How are we supposed to trust the TA of people who don't even explain their TA with "animal does stereotypically animal thing"? Grin

Exactamente!!!!!

You deserve at least one merit for that profound WObservation....  and perhaps even loads of +WO member tokens...

TLDR: Pics or it didn't happen (or not gonna happen).

We will drop below 8 k maybe 7 k as covid-19 grows in the USA.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus Outbreak on: July 03, 2020, 07:33:24 PM
^^^ Once you recognize that it all is a hoax, you will automatically correct a few things.

- The death rate is only about 0.26%.
- Of these deaths, less than 15% are under 65. Those that are 65+ generally have life-threatening health issues other than Covid.
- Leading flu vaccine deaths come in at around 0.6% to 0.7%... more than double Covid (see the 2.6%, above). It says so in the test paperwork that comes in the little box with the vaccine.
- People who take vitamin C, zinc, vitamin D3, vitamin A, and eat healthy almost don't get sick from the flu, especially if they don't get the flu vaccine. So Covid isn't a problem at all.

Then if you add things like not destroying your own health by wearing a mask, getting out into nature like sunshine at the beach, and like mingling with friends so that you are comfortable while you build your herd immunity, you can drive by the high-rise hospital and smile while you are waving at all the sickies looking out the windows.

Cool

You have part correct.

The huge death rates are from nursing homes.

within the nursing homes "demented old timers' die the easiest.

Assume the numbers are real.
55,000 deaths out of 132,000 are nursing home deaths.

This drops deaths to 77,000 in the USA
If you look at newer numbers death rates are lower as most are under 40 and partying at clubs.
If this is a good model.
More nursing homes will fill with covid-19 in CA TX AR FL  lots of sicker people will die.

Then older less ill people will that shelter in place will get ill.

Since care is a bit improved I come up with 260,000 dead in the USA by April 2021
at least 110,000 in nursing homes.
about 90,000 older people well enough to live good lives.

and 60,000 younger people.  0 to 60

My feeling is Trump and his people have done this math and figure it is acceptable.

110,000 sick in nursing homes.
90,000 older fairly healthy would have lived 10-20 more years.
60,000 under 60  with various health good fair and bad.

So if this is the correct assessment  wiping out the entire countries economy  is not wise.
16  Other / Meta / Re: BITCOIN.ORG: Is being turned into nothing more than an Bitcoin pumping site... on: July 01, 2020, 08:21:56 PM
you are 100% bitcoin will crash and burn to nothing.

When the covid-19 scare first hit hard back in feb  btc crashed to 3900 usd you were fully on top of the crash.  and now that btc is back to 9200 you do not credit it.

Basically every post I read from you is " btc coin sucks and will die."
I think people are tired of your one track posting.

BTW BTC could crash  by 2028. I have mentioned this more then once. I see long term issues with it.

But my posts have far more variance then just that one fear.

Thanks.  I appreciate the help.  To be clear.

1.  I'm a newbie.
2.  I was GIVEN the antminer.
3.  I read the manual and dozens of posts/sites.

I'd actually put these details in previously but didn't know I had to wait 5-10 mins for it to kick in.

No worries  you got it to work!

good luck!

beginners luck is always best.

Watching and listening to Charlie's Angels movie.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to $150K and Ether to $9K on: June 09, 2020, 10:14:54 PM
In the grand scheme of things.  btc is worth  170-180 billion as I type.

The USA printed 4 trillion dollars more the 21 times that 180 billion value.

This was done to help the job losses from covid-19  europe printed more then 1.5 trillion euros about 10x the value of btc.

Asian countries are also trying to stimulate their economies by printing money.

We could see big price spikes in all crypto gold and silver.  Along with other precious metals.

So the idea of crypto doing a spike to 150k btc and 9k eth is not impossible.  but not likely.
