2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the best way to secure passwords? on: June 22, 2011, 02:09:16 AM
Hi,

I use Data Guardian for my passwords and to generate strong pw.

Like Truecrypt, Data Guardian uses one master pw. I backup the Data Guardian db in many different places so if my computer goes down or the file gets corrupted, I always have a backup.

There are the FireFox ways such as synching them using many of the addons that they offer such as lastpass or Xmarks all.

Good luck and let us know how you make out and what you settled on.

This is the best "Build a Cheap Bitcoin Mine" write-up that I have read so far. http://bitminer.info/

It also has a nice hardware info

I have a Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT and it gets a blazing 2.2 Mhash/s! Yes that is very sad...

good luck

Hi,

For me I have a Nvidia GeForce 8500 gt and get a whopping 2.2 Mhash/s ! I know crazy fast...

So if you have integrated video I would expect it to be about the same or less.

Let us know.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / EFF and Bitcoin break up on: June 21, 2011, 03:56:21 AM
For several months, EFF has been following the movement around Bitcoin, an electronic payment system that touts itself as "the first decentralized digital currency." We helped inform our members about this unique project through our blog and we experimented with accepting Bitcoin donations for several months in an account that was started by others.

However, we’ve recently removed the Bitcoin donation option from the Other Ways to Help page on the EFF website, and we have decided to not accept Bitcoins. We decided on this course of action for a few reasons:

1. We don't fully understand the complex legal issues involved with creating a new currency system.
2. We don't want to mislead our donors.

  • Because of this, we’re giving the Bitcoins that have been accumulated, or that may accumulate in the future, in the account set up in our name to the Bitcoin faucet, so that they can continue to circulate in the community

3. People were misconstruing our acceptance of Bitcoins as an endorsement of Bitcoin.

SR now has sign up enabled at this address via tor

http://ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion/index.php/silkroad/home

If anyone has any alternative "Silk road" sites, please PM them, prefereably to me at least.

It'd be a shame to return to the streets....please don't back baby in a corner, and send a PM...

I'd be happy just having access to silk road...

Hi,

I know that SR was down for maintenance but as of yesterday my buying and selling accounts are fine and have no problem with signing on or with any selling or buying.

If you need help shoot me a message and I'll look on SR to see if I can see you on SR

They are not accepting any new accounts. So if you don't have an account then you will not get on. Only to the logon screen which is a sign in with a captcha.

Rock on.
