In a nutshell, exchange sites like Mt Gox need to hold the private keys to your bitcoin on their server.  That is how they are able to send them to someone when you want to spend them.  If you don't feel comfortable with someone else holding your money, transfer it to a local private encrypted wallet that you control yourself.

He He. Well it looks like participation at this pool rose about 10% since I posted this message.  No one has replied though.  I'd really like to know any thoughts/opinions on this.

I've been mining EDU coin at edu.forkpool.com for a couple days.  I have automatic payouts set at 25,000 coins.  I sometimes get double payments of the exact same amount that appear at the exact same time.  My wallet gives me credit for both of these amounts.  I filled out the contact form on forkpool alerting them to the problem but got no response.

Question, is there any possibility that there is a problem with the EDU blockchain causing this?  My guess is no.  When the pool's cron job checks the database the second time, it has probably just not been committed to the db yet due to a slow db on the server or something like that.   However, I'm not sure where the pool would be getting the funds for the extra payouts.

Anyone that is having trouble installing the Windows or Mac wallet, make sure you are using the archive password of !@*educoin@%^
Therefore, if you are on Windows, the standard built in unzip program in Explorer won't work.  Something like 7-Zip that supports zip file passwords needs to be used.  Why they did this?  I have no idea.

Also, I tried the Linux wallet but all it contained is a file of gibberish called educoin-qt.txt
Tips on installing that would be appreciated.

With UkraineCoin and SpainCoin coming out, will every country have an unofficial coin?

Forkpool has been running fine for at least an hour.
