I'm not sure I follow what you're saying, Wody?
I think he is kidding us Smiley .

I'm not kidding, since you wanted proof, I provided the actual spam-message. Also, I'm not kidding about it being a crime. Sending spam can get somebody fined up to 450.000 euro. About the spam, decoded, it comes from 50.73.45.250 which is the same IP-address as casascius.com, and it is an advertisement for that site. It can be verified with PGP, and so is no fake, or a phish for another site or something. The text decoded says:

Sorry to be sending e-mail to the Mt.Gox leak list.

Please be advised that a recent e-mail purporting to be from me regarding Casascius Physical
Bitcoins is fake and leads to a phishing site.  Don't give out your info unless you're sure you're
at the right place.

The real Casascius Physical Bitcoins website is at https://www.casascius.com.
If you do not know how to verify my PGP signature, consider looking me up on the forums to make
sure you have the right address and are not being phished.

Sorry for the hassle and the inconvenience, but I suppose this was going to happen sooner or later.

Mike Caldwell

Dear casascius.

Today I found in my email a spam coming from your website and IP-address, advertising for your website casascius.com. Sending such unsollicited email to people in my country is a crime. In addition, because of costs of spam for me, I also charge per spam, feel free to pay the bill by sending 100 bitcoin to: 1DESYhdFBUdQyTWBpLif6BQdr3FRcKBHWL

Most likely, that is it, since most CPUs aren't very efficient. As you saw, poclbm without any arguments gives you the list, for example:

No device specified or device not found, use -d to specify one of the following

  •     AMD E-350 Processor
  • [1]     Juniper

If you don't specify anything, it will use the first device, which is usually the processor and very slow, so in the poclbm-commandline you would use -d 1 (instead of -d 0, the default)

Verbose is --verbose, with the latest windows version this is enabled by default, so you don't need that. You can see all the options by running poclbm with -h

There is more information about what other settings would be useful at
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

So, in the end, your commandline would be something like
C:\bitcoin\poclbm_py2exe_20110709\poclbm.exe -v -w128 --device=1 http://name:password@minerURL:portnumber

Of course, if you want to use all of them, you can run another copy of poclbm to use the 2nd 6870 as well, with --device=2 (or as many as showed up in the list of poclbm, except the processor which won't help much really, unless you want to as well of course)
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: poclbm help on: October 16, 2011, 01:26:23 PM
Without knowing what operating system and hardware you are using, it can be difficult to say for sure.
You also didn't post what commandline you are using (without your actual worker names and password of course)

First guesses would be that everything is working correctly, but your hardware just is too slow, or perhaps it is using the wrong device to mine. So run poclbm by itsself, and see if it shows multiple devices, and if so, that you have the right one specified with -d

Also, you'll want to run poclbm with the --verbose parameter, so it will show when it connects to the miner and that it indeed is sending accepted shares etc.
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); Now LP&Ntime, NMC merged mining on: October 14, 2011, 03:08:56 AM
It is getting even more strange! For me, everything always worked fine untill the ddos happened. Now, after it, I have the following situation:

I have two computers, although they use different hardware, they use the same windows version, same updates, same software, go through the same router and internet-connection.

One of them, which uses poclbm, is connecting and mining fine, the other, also using poclbm, won't connect, even if I use the worker-details of the other computer.

It's in the "registration agreement" now, so most new users should notice it.

Great! Good to know people are paying attention. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: October 14, 2011, 02:58:11 AM
Hi,

Can I please be whitelisted too? I've wanted to add to the slush-pool thread too, and it is a bit annoying to not be able to. Mostly I read, and find most things I want to say have been said, so I don't post much, for example a few months back when mtgox was hacked, fortunatly I didn't suffer (much) in it, except not being able to trade, but that was annoying as well.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: October 14, 2011, 02:54:10 AM
I've been reading for months, before making an account, then never posted because I never saw the need to. Now I wanted to post something, and couldn't, took me ages before finding these restrictions. Might I suggest they are actually listed in the profile or something, so wellwilling people can actually know about it?
