1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Quantum Computing Threat to BTC... Correct me if I'm wrong on: October 23, 2019, 02:13:17 AM
So those of us whom have been in the space for a while are sick of hearing about this "quantum threat". At least I know I am!
First off I dont think this threat is close to becoming an issue for bitcoin and I think that there are already ways of dealing with this as I hear from AA and other btc tech guys.
CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG but if someone had that technology to break encryption and wanted to wreak havoc couldn't they easily crash equity markets, commodity markets, forex markets, and damn near anything they pleased? Why would they mess around with a cryptocurrency that hasn't even reached a trillion dollar market cap!? -well unless they had some sort of grudge

But seriously what type of things could be done to anything internet based, which is practically everything from banking, shopping, communicating, autopilot vehicles and planes, markets etc...?

Sorry if this is off topic. I dont think it is but Im sick of talking about btc with others and they bring up this stupid scenario where it would be the end all Bitcoin and I wanna spit some good facts next time so help me out..

2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin in 2020? on: October 23, 2019, 01:50:14 AM
okay okay okay
Everyone knows that the bitcoin halving is going to happen next year. Don't think that the event will make bitcoin rise in value... the hot hand fallacy. Just because the patterns show that it has happened in the past doesn't necessarily mean it will happen in the future. Maybe because it is so well known now it is already priced in the market.
The price of bitcoin in terms of USD value will increase if demand increases. This can happen in many sorts of ways... political uncertainty, current fiat monetary issues, capital controls imposed by governments, etc...
Or maybe the newly imposed QE of the Fed, ECB, and other central banks will create another boost in markets which in turn causes asset prices to increase, stocks could reach all time highs again, the housing market could continue its bull run, and even things like precious metals could reach new highs. With so much available cheap credit investors will be looking for good assets to "invest" in and many could flock to crypto and being that Bitcoin is king we could see all time highs in BTC as well.
We have never seen anything like this before in monetary systems at such a global scale, anything could happen. One thing I do predict is Bitcoin still has a major battle ahead. I believe the US government will eventually try to ban Bitcoin (as they have with gold bullion in the past) once it becomes a threat to the US dollar. Remember those who control the currency control the people. Governments will not just stand by and let a free currency flourish without a fight.
I am a huge believer in BTC and I hope for the best. I do not trade and I try to buy whatever I can with bitcoin to contribute to the ecosystem. I just regularly buy bitcoin every week, and pay my cell phone bill, VPN service, internet bill, merchandise, etc. Most people just hodl to "get rich" which imho is stupid. The best way to help bitcoin become mainstream is to actually use it as a medium of exchange. I hope 2020 will be a great year for BTC as most of my net worth is held in BTC and I'd like to buy me a Tesla next year... idk why so many people talk about Lambo's, bitcoin is the future, why not buy the cars of the future?...

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin and the INTJ personality type... on: October 22, 2019, 03:00:50 PM
So if you're like me you fall down rabbit holes that peak your interests. A few years ago I fell through the Bitcoin rabbit hole and was immediately hooked.. have to say it payed off well
I've also gone into the Myer's Briggs personality types rabbit hole and found that I am an INTJ. If you havent taken the test you should try, its amazingly accurate.
I think anyone that is an INTJ will love economics and bitcoin, here's why.
We love to think about the future and it's possibilities.
We think logically and try to poke holes in any strategy or potential outcome.
We dont get really emotional (price swings havent really affected my buying/selling)
Very interested in new technologies and how they can affect the world
We are very good at seeing patterns and also very good at predicting future outcomes
If anyone else has the same thoughts let me know. I think this is a cool discussion topic. I really try to find the faults in bitcoin and sound money. I think that the "issues" bitcoin faces will soon fade away as the technology progresses and most reasons why bitcoin will not work as a currency or store of value can be argued against with very logical points..
Thanks for ready, lets discuss!
