I moved to a new place without 220v. I tried 110v in past on these machines without problems. however, I do understand why 220v is "the way"

no mixing of circuits

most likely too thin. let me check the guage. i would not doubt quality control has decreased for the wires and breakout board 20$ units on ebay.

I have another unit and look at how eff'ed this one is too

3  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wallet Mining on: January 06, 2022, 11:14:55 PM
Can anybody tell me how long it usually take to mine a non empty wallet? I have been runing www.wallet-mining.com for over half day with no results so far. Does it depend on my hardware & connection or depends more on the actual bitcoin blockchain hash rate?

i hate to say this but its so obvious man. contact info looks like a website that sells sugar snap cookies
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems on: January 06, 2022, 10:43:43 PM
I wish the forum auto loaded pictures (I tried BB and HTML, probably a better way to do it) so people could see how crispy everything got. It did not trigger my fire alarm. I did not notice any odor either

The miner worked for about a month. I did notice each cable was quite warm to the touch and flimsy when operating.

The cables and breakout board are just whatever came up as "new" on ebay.
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems on: January 06, 2022, 10:35:30 PM
reports back with some answers.  the PSUs I am using this time around are: pd 18 Hp

pictures say a few words...

trying to upload pictures but cannot figure it out

but basically wires and breakout board and burned to a crisp. got so hot it melted the solder and bridged a jumper? omg

6  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems on: January 06, 2022, 04:56:44 PM
would unit run with a board taken out?
7  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems on: January 06, 2022, 04:40:59 PM
my hashrate is low and the miner has been known to reset or drop from the pool. it hashes about half. I think one of the boards is down if I am reading, specifcally the V1 parameter.
can i remove the bad hashboard and keep chuggging away on this machine with only 1 of its 2 boards?

Thank you in advance and thank you ebay for the shoddy machines

8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Getting Started. Want to pre-order first ASIC. on: January 06, 2022, 04:30:12 PM
i will make this concise

you do know you can order from canaan directly for an asic from them AND pay in usd?
9  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: basic 220v question on: August 04, 2020, 09:58:34 PM
this is what I was thinking originally!  Now I have an alternative to a PDU, though I may go with the PDU for peace of mind/safety.

THANK YOU as always.

thanks for shedding some light on all of this.
10  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: basic 220v question on: August 04, 2020, 06:35:50 PM
happy to provide a picture of my socket. it was put in by an electrician I hired for rather cheap. i think It is a true 20 amp, as it has 2 20 amp breakers, I assume one for each of the 2 positives.

https://i.ibb.co/m9YsVtN/IMG-20200726-202919.jpg

The PDU seems like the answer to what I need. I googled 220v power strip and obviously got nothing.
11  Bitcoin / Mining support / basic 220v question on: August 04, 2020, 03:35:34 PM
I have only one NEMA 6-20 (220v) plug in my garage. I ran only one asic at a time before the halving which was not a problem.

I see there are more efficient machines out from Antminer (like 1700w at 50+ths) Problem is that they require two (2) power cables.

is there any alternative you guys can think of so I can turn one outlet into 2? Or is it not advised since 2 circuits are needed at 10 amp each and my single 6-20 is only 20 amps? (which would not give me enough headroom).

Just trying to think outloud before I commit to a used antminer , cant seem to find them new for now. from what I read buying directly from them is the best route.
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon: Can I use same generation 8XX asics on same controller on: March 04, 2020, 03:55:13 PM
I was able to get an 821 and and 841 running together. not worrying about updates as it is up to date for now.

thanks for all info.
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon: Can I use same generation 8XX asics on same controller on: February 17, 2020, 07:29:34 PM
I learned a while ago that I could not get a 741 to be picked on my 8 series miner. (running daisy chained).

But can anyone confirm I can run a 841 alongside my 821 I picked up? I think the firmware's are series specific such as 7xx, 8xx, 9xx.

Thank you.
14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: A851 Hashrate steadily dropps on: October 18, 2019, 02:01:43 PM
I am running it off 2 PSU now, seems to magically be working.

For some reason I thought having another PSU would help it get more power if needed. I am providing it 1500W now ( 750 on each psu). Just worried it will not be enough to reliably run. I think we found the answer. I will provide another log if issues come up
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: A851 Hashrate steadily dropps on: October 17, 2019, 08:19:01 PM
I dont know how helpful this will be. this log is right after it "Crashes" now. meaning it hashes nice at 14 th/s, but then drops connection. this all happens soon after it is started. It then resets, and then just goes into "low power mode" I call it, as it only hashes at 4-5th/s. I will post another log when I can from the "low power moder" when I can.

I did, have referenced it before, thank you for creating that.

I am using wireless repeaters and am convinced they drop or degrade signal. I have ruled out power supply for now.

Will need help deciphering the Log file if possible, thank you in advance

I have this power hungry ASIC on 3 separate power supplies (each power supply is on a different fuse on my residential panel, I am using extension cords). Each is a 120v 750W server power supply.  I actually have an original canaan sorcerer but do not have access to 220v at home (dont know how to make it work at home either, wish i could)

1) My problem is that the hash-rate steadily drops from 14.7 (Advertised speed) , slowly over a 24 hour period all the way down to 3 th/s. I will supply the CCMINER code when I can access it.

2) Should an ASIC run at advertised speed or do they ever go half speed when the network is not busy?
