With mining one has an initial investment that one has to recoup indirectly. So mining requires some understanding and playing the market, somewhat like trading.. While in trading, ones initial investment is one is risking it is more volatile situation, with higher risk, which means higher rewards as well.

Ultimately, if one can afford to do both, it makes sense to do both. That way, one is able to hedge one's risk while still exposing one's self to the potential rewards possible from trading..

When it comes to the Internet like forums, mailing lists, discussion groups, comments, etc. "off-topic" refers to something which has little or nothing to do with what is currently being discussed. You should try to avoid being off-topic according to netiquette rules, since it is considered polite to stay focused on the current discussion. This is probably why posting off-topic comments is a common practice among users known as "trolls," who intend to disturb other users on purpose.
