1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All 6990s are soldout in every country of the world? on: July 21, 2011, 03:35:48 AM
it does not make any sense....
two 6970 are cheaper and faster...
But if you have plenty of money to spend and X number of pci slots to fill, why wouldn't you use 6990s? If someone is actually building a mining operation that is around ~10,000 cards big, that means they probably have some substantial financial backing. They are probably going to need space to house and cool at least 2500 rigs (assuming 4 cards per mobo). So in a situation like that, your 'hashing power per square foot' becomes a bigger and bigger factor.

Your overhead costs would be much higher to house and AC the same amount of hash power using 6970s as opposed to 6990s. So even though the initial cost per mhash is higher on a 6990 compared to dual 6970s, the 6990s would be much more efficient to mine with in the long run. Overhead cost per mhash is often more important to consider than purchase cost per mhash, you only buy the card once but you pay money to run it every second after that.

I would definitely prefer the 6970s, but that is just based off of my current situation.

Yeah this is a fire hazard in both, the flaming and pink slip, senses of the word.

It is also really awesome.

You can't truly be awesome without risking it all.
If you disagree with this statement, it is because you are not awesome.

Carry on, you crazy bastard.

I continue to have problems connecting to eu or eu2.  Never seen this new error message before but it seems to be happening every time it tries to submit a found hash.  I can see that stats show no shares going to the servers.  I can mine solo and on slushes pool and don't see this problem.  Help me Mr. Sam?

I'm not having CoinMan's problem, but I just can't connect to either server at all, miners keep retrying but failing.

Sooooooo, is this a scam or not? Didn't diablo call you guys out for being one? What's the dealio?

Diablo saw that Triplemining uses a hybrid referral system and decided to make a sticky calling the pool a scam with absolutely no research, evidence, or explanation. He still hasn't said anything about the matter, just seemed like an attempt to kill a newly formed pool. It was a pretty lame move on his part, using his influence on this board for highschool-level forum politics...

I've been mining here from the start and have gotten every single bitcoin owed to me. I make more here than I have anywhere else and that is with no referral bonus. Call it luck.

I have no active miners in my minipool yet somehow Triplemining hasn't collapsed, crazy how non-pyramid schemes work.
5  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: July 19, 2011, 04:56:23 PM
Yeah seems that too many people are switching to eu2 now :/ i'm mining on eu1 now

So since my miners are still pointed to eu.triplemining.com, am I getting redirected to eu1 or eu2, or are there 3 servers total now?
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happen to an incoming transaction while your bitcoin client is offline? on: July 18, 2011, 06:24:01 PM
The transaction happens whether your wallet is online or not. Once you do turn it on, it just reads the blockchain and figures out which transactions belong to it.

That's what I'm blaming it on if our luck turns!

This is so awesome, making like 2x what I should be with this lucky streak!

Yeah I am at about 5.5k shares with 0 stale so far this round.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ubuntu Mining Help - cannot get second card to mine on: July 17, 2011, 04:15:54 PM
I'm fairly new to linux so I can't troubleshoot it to save my life but I had a similar problem, I couldn't do anything with my 2nd and 3rd cards. I tried and tried to find a solution but finally gave up, reinstalled ubuntu and followed the guide from the second post of this thread. I don't know what my problem was but I haven't experienced it since.

3x5830 each hashing at 297 Mhash with no overclock.

Block ! Wink

Wow, I hope I get "scammed" more often by TM.  I'm making coins left and right here!

Wishes do come true, another block!!
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Erasing unused accounts on: July 16, 2011, 02:50:10 PM
It makes sense that you don't trash old addresses in that you completely throw away your
private keys. But it makes a lot of sense to be able to transfer unused accounts somewhere else,
where you can still check up on them periodically but they don't clutter your wallet.

An 'Archived Addresses' tab would be nice to have. A typical non-techie user wouldn't want to, or necessarily know how to set up and transfer funds to a new wallet every now and then. It's also an unnecessary hassle. Sure it's not a huge deal to most of us current users, but if bitcoin is going to catch on with the masses, the client needs to be clean, feature-rich, intuitive, and it needs to make everything it does as simple and easy as possible.

Is that the reason why my "automatic payment" has been on the "todo" list for over an hour now?

My first auto payment was "todo" for a good while too. I haven't been watching them close enough since to know whether that is an accurate average wait or not. My guess is that the system is set up to require manual confirmation for payments, but again, that's just my guess.

Love seeing the pool's hashrate climbing, even though one of my 5830s just suffered a very toasty death the other night. Rest in Pieces little buddy.  Cry

This pool just keeps getting better and better. Definitely the most fun I've had mining.

Pretty sure this has been a goood day for Tripleminers! 3 blocks in 24 hours!?
15  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: July 15, 2011, 11:59:58 AM
We just found 2 blocks overnight. This pool just keeps scamming me into more and more money. You should be ashamed.

Don't know if you guys have noticed, but... $$$!

I wish I had some active miners in my minipool so I would have someone to give money away to!  Grin

EDIT:

And the website keeps getting better and better!

I'm sure the landlord wouldn't just take it laying down.

You're right, you will probably be getting angry calls from him every other day if you are pulling any real amount of current but there still isn't anything he can legally do about it, depending on your specific lease and any loopholes included I suppose. If you are running a farm out of your apartment, he could probably get the fire marshal to come by but as long as your setup isn't unsafe, they can't really do anything either. No law against having computers.

If he does resort to those sort of "guerrilla tactics" like flipping breakers or otherwise interrupting services to your place, you can try to get evidence of him tampering with your power and have a pretty easy to win lawsuit against him. I personally live in a duplex though so the landlord can't get to my breaker-box without me letting him in.

Just throwing the idea out there since it has been working great for me so far.
18  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: TripleMining is a scam, and is flooding the forum with referral links on: July 11, 2011, 06:30:43 PM
I'm sure he will of DKN can actually provide the spam e-mail which will include the spammers ID.  Of course, if DKN is just blowing smoke and making shit up, he won't be able to provide it.

.

The amount of unsubstantiated, unbacked accusations regarding this pool are ridiculous.
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much does it cost YOU to produce a bitcoin? on: July 11, 2011, 06:14:19 PM
I live in a predominately college town so this may not apply everywhere.
A lot of landlords here offer some or all utilities included in rent as an incentive to the college kids. Being an apartment dweller at the end of my lease this summer, I specifically found an affordable place I could rent with utilities included. My landlord pays my electricity for me, therefore my he pays my rent for me! He can't be making any money off me, I imagine the power bill is pretty ridiculous with the AC and Bitcoin rigs running all day. Fortunately he can't do anything about it until my lease expires in 12 months. Grin

If you have a big mining farm that eats up a few hundred dollars/month in electricity, it may be worth finding a cheap, electricity-included apartment just to house your rigs. Of course if you are spending that much per month in electricity, I imagine you've probably already considered this option as well as a hundred others. Just be prepared to get tossed out on your ass as soon as your lease expires. Tongue

I have 2 payouts in my account but I have yet to see them 0_o

The "My Payouts" section lists credits to your Triplemining balance, listed at the top of your acct page.

The "My Transactions" section lists coins that have been deducted from your TM balance and paid to your bitcoin address.

So the sum of your payouts for those 2 blocks is not listed in your Balance?
