Dead? No. However, the price of the coin is very much manipulated by the dev team.
BeeNode is not dead by no means ,however a army of 1080ti's (around 40gh)await reward of 3.6 or higher to turn on if they want to bring new life they find a way where we could donate/inject to the reward to trigger this army .or the reward could just be increased.As of now the only way for miners to increase the reward is to mine the GLT Best way i found is to set one worker to mine only GLT the rest set as BNODE/GLT you just need one to be always mining GLT your lowest watt card will do.Set this way and the other workers will help out when needed.After GLT coin is mined BNODE reward can increase by alot raising the reward all the way to 9.9 with a double glt mined at once lol.
Also one doesn't need to mine Beenode in many pools you can get paid in any coin just set up a bnode wallet and set c=BNODE
into anything you might be mining.(profit vs cost of power hence why they only turn on on a high reward cost too much money mine otherwise 2080ti makes 12 cents a day before power cost)so the reward needs to be increased.
I don't believe anyone is controlling the price since this is only traded on one exchange one would see it the volume you see are people mining bnode into btc wallets when the volume goes up the price should also(the pool will bid a higher than current price)
Once you have it running remember to mix get 1k become masternode hold till 5k-10k beenode.
Anyways you control the price Don't sell your bnode hold it secure and always backup your wallets to another drive.
