Yeah, I don't know. The auction site said they do that to get early interest. A bit silly for something that's easily redeemable for far more, but whatever. I'm sure someone will bid at least face value.

I would just rather not destroy the coin. It's a very nice and pretty rare coin. Ultimately if I can't find a buyer I probably will open it.
Understood. And can appreciate the fact you want to keep this cas in tact these will be few and far between. How would you recommend a secure transaction would take place for an in person exchange oh what now amounts to around ~$1mil worth of crypto? Just wondering how people are doing large transactions transfers now a days. A trusted courier service is an option. I know there are a few members here that offer this service. From what I understand they charge a flat fee (based on value of item) along with airfare, hotel, meals etc. We do not hear about it much because these transactions are typically not made public. I am assuming whoever buys it will want to see it in person before committing. I would.

Why are these so "cheap?"
As far as I can tell most sales don't seem to include the fact that they include all bitcoin-forks since they were so early on the blockchain?
I'm not complaining as a buyer, but someday people will figure out these have value.
EDIT: I'm talking in general, not this specific post.
Because I offered them at a higher price previously and only sold one coin. I want them off my hands. I'm sure time/effort/risk of doing the exchange is probably the major factor. I also live in North Dakota so not a lot of opportunity for local sales. I am not a collector. I bought these as novelty pieces to show people back when I was introducing them to Bitcoin in 2011-2013. I never intended them as an investment and I would personally rather have liquid coins I can trade, sell, or spend as I please. I'm honestly they are not getting more attention, they are a rare piece of Bitcoin history.

You should put them on airtight capsule to protect them from scratch and discoloration. Most your have noticeable scratches. I'm just concern about this gem safety. You can buy copper membership in the forum so that you can post picture in your thread. It will makes easier for visitors to view your coins.
GLWS!
Perhaps I should have. I am not a collector however. I bought these as conversation pieces to show people when I was introducing people to what Bitcoin was back in 2011-2012. They were worth about $5 and I didn't care. I'm still not a collector and would rather have coins on my ledger, but I don't want to destroy something rare that others may value so I'm attempting to sell them for a markup worth my effort and risk rather than peel and destroy them. The one exception being the 10BTC piece I actually bought that just because I thought it looked really cool and it is in a case that has never been opened.

Awe man. You're right I used the wrong picture on the top. Now I have to go through and figure out what coin I missed.
Anyway there is a reason that one is cheaper, it is a bit scuffed up on the back.

I have these coins for sale: http://ericools.simplesite.comYou are welcome to make offers, however I can't message people here because I'm too new I guess. So message me directly or make sure you aren't blocking new people if you want a reply. I sold one with MinerJones acting as escrow before and that worked out well so I'm willing to do it that way again if desired. I live in North Dakota and am willing to travel as far as Minneapolis to meetup if an in person transaction is desired. I also have a gold platted a 25BTC piece. It's not on there because my picture is pretty bad, but if someone has a serious interest I can go visit my deposit box and take another. That one might justify an in person exchange. I don't really want to trust it to a delivery service. Edit1: Addresses since they are a bit hard to read in the images. 1CAa6P6V - Sale Pending 1caGBBQQ - Sale Pending 134ZcLd2 - Sale Pending 131uTDrV - Sale Pending 1DKhbxAb - SOLD 1CAJ37WK - Sale Pending 136U6eGM - Sale Pending 137gkVVG - SOLD 1CAhx5Tt - SOLD 1AgsonV7 1GdwTe2h

Yes, it is the same coin as in that auction.
The winning bidder did not claim it. I was unable to message them due to having a new account so I don't know if they even bothered to to check back after placing the bid. They may have simply assumed they lost. It was also right when the COVID-19 thing was getting to be a major distraction so who knows.
Yes, I took the .001 bid as a joke. Obviously I'm not going to sell it for less then face value. I reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone for any reason. I consider myself committed to the sale when either myself or escrow has received agreed upon payment.
For those of you arguing about the value, yes it does have some scratches, and yes I will entertain reasonable offers. I would also remind everyone these contain all the forked coins as well. That's justifies 5% over face value on it's own. Even if you don't believe those coins will survive, whatever ones do will likely benefit from the failure of the others. Though my biggest concern is that I make more than the cap gains tax I'll pay selling them. I bought them as a novelty to show people and they are a bit spendy to walk around with. I'm not a collector and would prefer to have liquid assets.
I am not new either to this forum or to the concept of auctions. I was an ebay seller back in the days when people paid by money order and I had an account here back in 2011 but I guess they all got compromised and I wasn't able to get access to mine again so I made another.

https://imgur.com/wAURRGU https://imgur.com/a/1D7tp5XThe price is 1.25BTC + cost for if you opt for escrow. Edit: I have a new account and it seems like those are automatically blocked so if anyone wants to converse with me privately you're going to need to unblock new users.

If this isn't claimed by Saturday I am going to sell it someone else.

dead_skunk Your bid of 1.1 BTC is the winner.
I think you got lucky on this one. It seems everyone is distracted.
I can't message you directly because I have a new account. Please message me and let me know how you wish to proceed. Thanks.

I may have to look into that before I post the next one. I'll probably wait a while though. Seems like there is a lot less attention now than on the last one.

Thanks. It looks like I may need to be higher ranked here.

Bid in BTC Cost of escrow fees and shipping from escrow will be added to your bid. Did escrow though MJ last time and that seemed to work pretty smoothly. Edit: Apologies I made an error in the title. As you can see by the photo this is in fact a 2013 coin not a 2011 coin. Sorry about that. Edit: If anyone can tell me how to make my images show up in the post as images rather than links, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey RexRich you have highest bid. Trying to message you but I am blocked.

It's bid +"actual shipping costs". Be that UPS, courier, me flying it directly to you, or whatever method you choose. I didn't include shipping because I assumed different people would have different standards for what they consider reliable transport.

Alright, I'm feeling mostly human again. Let's put a final countdown on this. 24hrs from this post I'll close bidding and contact whoever has the highest bid.
