1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Use Recovery Phrase With Another Wallet? on: March 27, 2020, 05:55:43 PM
Thanks for clarifying
2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Use Recovery Phrase With Another Wallet? on: March 27, 2020, 05:00:58 PM
When I installed Electrum and created the wallet, I wrote down the 12 word recovery phrase.

Obviously I can use this to restore access to my coins in a new Electrum wallet.

I'm trying to better understand if I can use this same 12 word phrase in another (non Electrum) wallet. From my reading, it seems I can. But has anyone actually tried it?

On Windows 10, there is only 1 process shown running in Task Manager.

Given Windows 7 going out of support I'll probably switch to 10

What happens when you close your Electrum wallet? Are there any Electrum processes in the task manager then? Maybe you just opened it a few times and it didn't close properly or it could be a temporary bug.

Have you tried restarting your computer and opening Electrum after a fresh restart? Is there just one process after a fresh restart?
No, it always seems to be 2 processes, even immediately after a restart.

The offline Electrum, running on Windows 10, only seems to have 1 process showing in Task Manager.

I'll try installing a watching Electrum wallet under Windows 10, and report back

I'm running Windows 7 x64, and I have a question about Electrum processes.

When I start my Electrum watching wallet, the Windows Task Manager shows 2 images:

1. Electrum-3.3.8.exe *32 size 1152K
2. Electrum-3.3.8.exe *32 size 58772K

Is this normal?

The 0.005 is a withdrawal fee from the exchange
I assume you mean 0.0005 is the withdrawal fee, which accounts for the discrepancy between the 0.005 request and the 0.0045 received.
Um yes, 0.0005 was the fee.

Must be because the amount you specified wasn't 'filled' yet.
You just received 0.0045 BTC instead of 0.005

But as TryNinja said, you can ignore that because it's not actually required to receive Bitcoins, it's just for label and stuffs.

Not clear about what you are asking but I am trying here.

9  Bitcoin / Electrum / Receive Tab and History Tab Inconsistent on: March 13, 2020, 08:25:34 PM
I received some bitcoins via my watching wallet.

The Receive tab shows the status as Pending, but the History tab shows the coins received. On the blockchain, the transaction has more than 10 confirmations.

I have a similar, but slightly different question.

I have an offline wallet set up on a dedicated, disconnected machine, to sign transactions when spending is required. I created a watching wallet on a desktop PC, using the public key from the offline wallet.

Can I also set up a second watching wallet on another laptop? This would be useful if travelling.

If I do create another watching wallet, will the 2 watchers keep in step in some way? I'm reluctant to just try as I don't want to lose or split transaction history.
