1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Take Profit in this Bullrun on: June 03, 2024, 10:25:39 AM
Crypto trading and investing has many challenges. However some that stand out are;

1. Risk in trading or investing
2. Greed and Fear
3. Profit taking.

I will address the third point in this trade. Making profit is one thing, taking profit is far important. What make some people not to make profit is fear and greed.
Here is a strategy i used in taking profit;
1. Determine the market cap you want the coin to rise to.
2. DCA out at every milestone of the project.

For example, say you bought SOL at $5. You take 50% off after 5x, and take 10% as it goes up.

How do you take profit? Are there other strategies for profit taking?
Here's my words about those points above.

#1. Risk management would be always that recommended or something that should really be in default.
#2. Greed is normal and having that control wont really be something that will be easy and also as fear since we are just humans then it would be normal. Enough experience would be the key on this one
#3. This is whats the most important thing is that you should really know on how to take profit. You wont be considered yourself profitable if you dont know on how to secure profits.

#4 Always make up some research on what are the coins that you are tending to deal with. You cant just careless pick up with low MC's and assume that it would be making out some nasty 100x.
#5. DCA only on solid projects or something that do talks about with those old and established coins.

Whatever you do into this market then it would really be something that will be basing up on how well you do make out those kind of decisions
which would be reflecting out on how experience you do are on this market but make it sure that in every move you would make then you should be thinking up well
whether it would be viable or something that you should skip out.

Most people learn by experience and others learn from the experience of others. The latter is desirable

Are there other strategies for profit taking?
I think it is the common and you've said it about DCAing. This one;

2. DCA out at every milestone of the project.

You sell whenever you are in profit and you just do it every time that you're going to need some money. But apart from that, as long as the price targets are being hit, you'll sell maybe 10% or so depending on how much you need.

Not another strategy but it's very common when someone does this because it's very effective and the rest that you still hold could bring no longer heart feelings when you've taken out already huge profit.

If this is the approach how will people make life changing money?

The idea you've listed on profit taking, is virtually what every investor would do, though some will still hold on till the profit reaches 100% based on what they've predicted the market cap will rise to, However some person's will argue that, 50-60% of your profit should be enough for you to take, as exceeding that will be greed. Don't forget that, you can successfully hold your coin for long period for it to yield good profit, and Bitcoin is the only major coin that has that capacity, others are too unpredictable so is not advisable to hold for long, so hence you get a little percent above your capital, it's advisable to take profit.

What level of unrealized profit is actually greed? For instance some people sold BTC at $500 while others are sold at $70k. Some people are still holding. What level of Unrealized profit can be considered greed and fear?

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rune vs BRC20 on: May 23, 2024, 11:15:46 AM
Is there really any need to keep learning about a scam that totally failed?

Runes are just distractions that came under bitcoin network and caused a lot of network congestion which pissed a lot of people off.

Some kind of thing that called itself standard which every one can create their own token with names that makes it look special and try to sell them out at the same time.
They are a whole bunch of shit that caused our attention sometimes time ago, no wonder it die off gradually.

I thought we are past discussions about this failed project?

Innovations dont make sense at the onset. I believe there is more to this in the future than what we have today. An experiment that failed will be pivoted and it could turn out to be an advancement in bitcoin network.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rune vs BRC20 on: May 23, 2024, 11:10:39 AM
runes are not a BTC standard

runes and brc are junk data sold to scammed victims.
thats all that needs to be said

the creators are just scam creators. they create junk sell it and then a few months later create some new buzzword for new junk
they dont care about longevity of their creations as long as they make a some money from each iteration to profit and then fund the next buzzword iteration of the same crap scheme

Do you mean that NFT and fungible NFT standards are not innovations. I disagree with your position. Real value is being created by these innovations. It may not reflect in the short term but in the long term they will.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Rune vs BRC20 on: May 23, 2024, 10:37:58 AM
This post will simply be about learning the difference between Rune and BRC20 bitcoin standards.

Based on my studies, Rune is a fungible token standard on the bitcoin blockchain. The standard is an improvement on the BRC20 which is more non-fungible than fungible.

What are the other key differences between Rune and BRC20? Are there more compelling cases for Rune as an innovative btc standard?
8  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Two Events that'll Influence the Strength of NGN /USDT on: June 08, 2023, 04:48:07 PM
How do you think these two events could impact the strength of NGN against the USD? Will you buy and save USDTinstead of saving in NGN?

Dangote talk say him go dey export (abi him dey expect to they export)  around 40% of wetin dem refine to outside. When exportation happen for any country e dey introduce foreign exchange so dat one go surely affect dollars. The problem of this xounyna say we no dey export anything sufficient to dey make foreigner dey bring there dollars come the country which side is why dollars hard to get here and this one follow why dollars dey cost. We dey too over value am. Tinubu administration go also help the situation of the country, heim dun first commot subsidy and na better thing be dat. That subsidy dey chase away foreign investors wey for come invest for the refinery and filling stations wey we get to get slots for the profits wey the dem go generate.

When you subsidies something, you make it difficult for competition and without competition and freedom for the market to decide price, investors no go dey interested in that thing. Now wey Tinubu dun comot subsidy na for local refinery to start to dey attract international investors wey go help make dem function. Make the government commot hand for the refinery and dey tax dem but make dem function on their own and watch how dollars go begin enter the country, Naira begin get value and fuel prices begin to come down. Competition go dey for filling station too and no be this nonsense wey dem dey mandate everybody to sell the same price weather you dey make profits or not

Wetin you yan na true talk. wat if de goverment come change their mind for the subsidy when dey wan comot. I hear say NUC won protest say why goverment comot subsidy?
9  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Two Events that'll Influence the Strength of NGN /USDT on: June 05, 2023, 07:50:25 AM

How do you think these two events could impact the strength of NGN against the USD? Will you buy and save USDTinstead of saving in NGN?
it was a tough decision removing the subsidy because the subsidization has cushioned Nigerians years from now, but it also a huge step towards improving the economic because the government pours several dollars for subsidy, so with the removal; the government promise an increase of 6% GDP (gross domestic product).
The Dongote refinery will make a great impact to the economy as it will be producing 650,000 barrel pay day, with this, they will be decrease in importation, and increase in currency savings.
But regardless, i'll prefer saving in USDT because of trading.
[/quote]

You prefer saving in USDT for trading but what if the naira plummets to 650/$?
How do you manage that risk?
10  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Two Events that'll Influence the Strength of NGN /USDT on: June 04, 2023, 09:01:37 PM
Many of the fuel that are used by Nigerians are not refined in Nigeria. Dangote refinery will be capable of refining domestic fuel and export if true what we heard about it. This will definitely helps reduce naira devaluation.

What I first thought of about fuel subsidy removal is that it will result to inflation. We should be expecting that. But according to what the president said, Nigeria is exporting subsidized PMS (petrol) to Benin Republic, Cameron and Republic of the Niger. If PMS subsidy is removed, more foreign currency can flow into Nigeria and this may likely help to reduce naira devaluation.

Well, it doesn't sound plausible that Nigeria is subsidizing PMS for neighboring countries. How does that affect the economy? Money released from there could be channeled into productive use

12  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Two Events that'll Influence the Strength of NGN /USDT on: June 04, 2023, 08:37:28 PM
There are two events that have occurred in the past one month in Nigeria that have the potential to impact the exchange rate.

1. The Launching of Dangote Refinery
:
It is believed that the facility could produce adequate refined fuel ⛽ for local consumption. Asides that, the excess production could be exported. Export means demand for the NGN and appreciation of the currency.

2. The BAT administration :

The BAT administration is very critical for the economy of Nigeria. Starting with the removal of fuel subsidy and the reaction of the USD to NGN as a result is just one of the many policies to be introduced.

How do you think these two events could impact the strength of NGN against the USD? Will you buy and save USDTinstead of saving in NGN?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Know the Next PEPE on: June 04, 2023, 08:01:06 PM
there's honestly no factors that influence meme project in general all of them are just pure luck, even their popularity was very random.
if it's determined by innovation or whatever it is, surely it wouldn't be this random but the truth is these meme coin get popularity out of nowhere.

I don't think people just get lucky. I think everything happens as a result of careful planning and strategising.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Know the Next PEPE on: June 04, 2023, 07:57:07 PM
I think it's difficult to find the next pepe memecoin because in memecoin it's gambling,
and one of the ways you can buy all the memecoins that appear on exchanges like Pancakeswap or Uniswap is just like what Justin Sun did,
he buys all the memecoins and actually holds , if you win then 1000x can be achieved, and of course that is very risky.

Is that what Justin Sun crypto strategy is? Well, the strategy that most people use is pulling off of the initials and then ride the rest. Doing so will help manage risk
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Know the Next PEPE on: June 04, 2023, 07:55:07 PM
I guess best way of knowing the next big meme coin is through just waiting for elon shill, you just never know which coin gonna get massive rally.
I even sometimes think that it's all just pure manipulation by the whales and nothing more, after all, why the rally is so random, not because it's got some quality in it.
but just because suddenly the price of these meme coin suddenly increase and the increase seems motivated and backed up by large capital behind it.
i just couldn't wrap my head around how these meme coin could suddenly get such massive investment, maybe it's all just coincidence but honestly, we all here just speculating.

While this is a great point. Most traders use two fundamental metrics to trade crypto assets. 1. Elon Musk shilling post and 2. Whale tracking

Knowing fully well Elon said the the most unlikely prediction could be the outcome.

Well for any project that want to have a sustainable market flows and build a good ecosystem for the coin, most take note of the mentioned factors that supply them with liquidities that will keep them in the market for a long, just as you have rightly said community participation is the first liquidity provider for the coin and to get the coin exposed to a wider market it need a calculative partnership this may be, exchanges and other service providers are the best partners to look out for. Ee

Well said. But do you think exchange partnership is superior to individual partnership in crypto?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to Know the Next PEPE on: June 03, 2023, 10:20:04 PM
In 2021 i wrote an article on medium and created a YT tutorial on how to spot a memecoin project that will become something.
From that teaching, here are the two key factors to look out for.

1. Community:

It is community that gives speculative value to memecoin. So, the bigger and the cult-like a community is the better. It shows alot of the community will buy and create hype for the project.

2. Strategic Partnerships:

How is associated with the memecoin? If it's a notable influencer like Elon Musk, it'll moon.

Therefore in researching the next memecoin project to degen in, these factors should be your priority.

What other factors do you think influence memecoin projects?
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US economy in recession? on: July 29, 2022, 05:02:46 PM
The economic data of the US is clearly showing a two consecutive negative GDP growth rate. While some analysts believe that the economy is in a recession, economic advisers are saying there is no major decline in economic activities.

And both are right, one of the conditions of technical recessions (as not everybody agrees with the 2 quarters period) has been met while on the other hand there are different signs that economic activity is not really declining with more and more jobs being added and taken and with the US finally inches away from reaching pre covid levels of employment:

Quote
The labor force participation rate, at 62.2 percent, and the employment-population ratio, at 59.9 percent, were little changed over the month. Both measures remain below their February 2020 values (63.4 percent and 61.2 percent, respectively)

So it will come down to definitions, the easy one has been already met, and the more complicated one, like NBER is using not yet, and of course, for every Republicans we're already in a recession and for every Democrat, things are going great.
To add more complications to this, even if the decline was 0.9%, a 4-5% decline wouldn't have raised any questions as things were clear.

What are the core elements of a recession?

Unemployment, consumption expenditure, manufacturing, retail, and trade sales.
When they all go down, you clearly are in a recession.

Yes, we can say recession at this level is not severe because it's inflation that is fueling it. But, it becomes severe when other data signalling decline in economic activities.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US economy in recession? on: July 29, 2022, 04:25:08 PM
Slow job growth in the private sector, low consumer spending, low wage increases, among other things.

Some of these are lagging indicators. You've seen hiring slow down, but job layoffs and unemployment won't happen contemporaneous to the GDP reports. The economy is generally slow moving unless there's market shock. Anyone suggesting that the U.S. economy is not in recession will point out these lagging indicators which will eventually catch up to capture the true state of the U.S. economy. They won't have these numbers to rely on for long.

Yes, I think the two negative consecutive GDP growth rate is a symptom of recession.
