1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tricks and tips for esports betting on: May 03, 2020, 06:56:50 AM
Unfortunately, as with pretty much all forms of betting/gambling, there are no guarantees to get regular wins. With that being said though, there will be people who manage to win bets more consistently. Esports is very similar to traditional sports when it comes to betting, but I do believe it can be easier to track and make more solid predictions.

I spent a few months betting on esports, focusing on League of Legends, CS:GO and Call of Duty and found this to be particularly useful - https://www.esportsbets24.com/

They help break down the tips and tricks that you'll likely find the most benefit from and also post predictions for some of the biggest esports matches. Like I said at the start though, there's never a guaranteed win when gambling, but taking advice and predictions from some websites like that could help you find a little more success when betting on esports.

I haven't used it too much myself, only sporadically, but I do like it. I feel in regards to gaming, which is where I'd personally get the most use, it still requires some further development but it has without a doubt come on leaps and bounds in the past couple of years.

Outside of pure gaming/esports, I feel it offers a lot of real-world opportunities and solutions. There plenty of publications about the wide range of uses it has, but this is one of my favourites - https://www.fdmgroup.com/5-exciting-uses-for-virtual-reality/

As mentioned in that piece about its uses, there has been a big push for VR technology in Education, which Lenovo and Microsoft have both gotten behind. I've seen it used mostly in sports, as it provides yet another way for these athletes to hone in on their skills, without the dangers that they are sometimes faced with. Overall, a big fan of virtual reality, I just look forward to a time where it's more applicable and usable in everyday life.

Personally, I have never found much enjoyment from playing the likes of Dota 2 or League of Legends, with that being said, I do like watching their esports tournaments and leagues. If I had to pick it would be CS:GO between the two.

Call of Duty is up there as my favourite esports, although I know that can stir up some opinions in the world of esports. I'm also interested to see how the likes of FIFA and Formula 1 continue to grow as online esports, as they have such a clear connection to real-world contacts and personalities.

Absolutely love a good FPS. Call of Duty was my go to game for several years, dabbled in some competitive play / esports for a few years before having to step back from things to focus on University. In regards to other FPS games, I think CS:GO is the only other one I've found myself "addicted" to for short periods of time.

Recently I've actually found myself addicted to FIFA, a game I never thought I'd invest this much time into but I've fallen in love with their Ultimate Team game mode. I know most intense gamers will have a giggle as it's a sports simulation game but each to their own. If you have some spare time at the moment and want something you can work towards game-wise, I recommend trying out FUT. If you don't know much about it, there are full breakdowns available - https://www.fifplay.com/fut-20/ and there's plenty of YouTube videos.

Have you tried the likes of NordVPN yet? I've personally used it for the closer part of 2 years now and it has never let me down.

I've used it for quite a few different websites where my ISP didn't allow access (don't worry, nothing sketchy just ISP being weird with security measures). Works for your generic stuff like accessing different regions on streaming platforms etc too.

TechRadar has done a proper in-depth review on it, worth taking a look - https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/pc-mac/software/utilities/nordvpn-1325623/review

The only negative side of using NordVPN is the speeds I pull are sometimes a decent chunk lower than what I have. Saying that, it’s never a drastic drop and doesn’t heavily impact me in anyway.

This is the advantage of esports, whether there is a pandemic or none it will still thrive.

I didn't know about that migration that Formula 1 did. In what specific website can we watch those racers taking their virtual race cars and matches? As for the esports, the LAN tournaments where cancelled but that doesn't mean the pandemic can stop wholly the whole industry.

Remember that it's a game that can be held online which most esports are and organizers can easily do that.

I just follow the Formula 1 Twitter page and they post all the updates about the virtual races. Believe they are streamed on Twitch and highlights from each one go on their YouTube.

Hey guys, hope everyone is coping well with their respective lockdowns during everything taking place in the world right now. For several years now I have been heavily invested in esports and it has been amazing being able to watch it grow during this time.

I have seen a lot of discussion on social media recently in regards to how much success esports will see during this, and I was hoping to spark up some discussion and get ideas from others.

Many people were worried when COVID first hit as many of the popular esports leagues are played in physical studios so were halted, but over the past couple of weeks everything is in motion again, with the majority of games taking place online. The upcoming Formula 1 season was also meant to start right as COVID hit, which postponed the start of the season. However, they have taken this time to host virtual races on the recent Formula 1 game each weekend; with professional drivers, celebrities getting involved, which in my opinion is fantastic.

Basically, how do you think this is going to help esports grow, if at all? Will we see cross-pollination and a mix of new faces moving forward or will we see it spike until COVID passes and everything goes back to normal.
