1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Achieving a goal on: January 02, 2024, 01:14:50 AM
Hey folks,

Basically, I have around 25$k to invest, and I really want to hit least 200K$ by the end of this year.
Could you please give me some tips and advises?
Also, It is an amount that I honestly don't want to lose since it counts significantly to my capital.
Background story, I have quite the portfolio that would count around 150k$ at current prices, some I sold early and some went greedy and lost.
I did learn a though lesson about patience tho.
Also, psychologically I am done with trading since the lost, I was great at it but one drunk night got me bad lol.
Don't drink and trade folks.

Thanks a lot!

2  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Escrow services and problems on: December 18, 2023, 04:43:35 PM
one of the things I consider a major challenge in escrow services in the crypto space is the price volatility of assets. As much as we all understand that there is volatility in the market, can we say that those who are in a business deal also understands that their asset of concerns has volatile price movements and who covers for the losses in cases where it is the obvious.

The escrow service has to mediate over such disparity except it is being spelt out that is concerns precise volume rather than value of the asset.

Indeed, But there is always a solution for such problem nowadays as it is mostly technical.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Apart from BTCPayServer on: December 18, 2023, 04:41:39 PM
I was tinkering with BTCPayServer, even though I do like the idea but it doesn't satisfy my needs (Test building Bitcoin Exchange - for fun dw dw)

First of all, i have doubt BTCPayServer is suitable to manage cryptocurrency exchange. As stated on their docs[1], the common case for BTCPay is for mostly receiving Bitcoin.

What I am thinking is, manual check-outs and automatically sending coins to a hardware wallet, and send them back to the users upon their withdrawal requests?

I believe you'll need to use pull payment feature[2].

Hey,

Much appreciated @ETFBitcoin
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Apart from BTCPayServer on: December 17, 2023, 02:28:13 AM
Hey,

I was tinkering with BTCPayServer, even though I do like the idea but it doesn't satisfy my needs (Test building Bitcoin Exchange - for fun dw dw), which lead me to deploy my own node and work on it, I am wondering on how to custody the coins for an example.
Lets say, user(A) deposits to the exchange, where should I keep the coins? In the server? Isn't it too risky?
What I am thinking is, manual check-outs and automatically sending coins to a hardware wallet, and send them back to the users upon their withdrawal requests?

Can someone please elaborate to me how should I do that, and what is the secure way to do so.
I tend to have a strong urge to use HD wallets since they are the safest (as believed by the majority).

Some guides/documentations/tutorials please?   Kiss
5  Bitcoin / Project Development / Escrow services and problems on: December 17, 2023, 02:19:06 AM
Hey,

I want to develop a Bitcoin escrow service and I have some doubts about it and to get started with it and all.
I know for a fact that Bitcoin is meant to be a peer-to-peer crypto-currency where trust is the key, even tho there is multi-sig, but for the simple user they would find it quite hard to do so. And therefore why there aren't many Bitcoin escrow services (excluding DW escrows for non-legit/illegal purposes).
Also, makes me question if it is actually a profitable business, given it is hard to earn trust for such platforms.
Finally, what's with escrow and disputes? I mean, solving disputes is not that hard of a thing to do, right? right??

Thank you for reading!  Smiley
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin validation for Javascript on: December 11, 2023, 06:51:58 PM
Hey,

I am wondering if there is a full bitcoin validation library or NPM package for that? That the build is actually up to date and maintained.
If not, should i validate the bitcoin wallet using the RPC validateaddress() command through an API?
Would love your feedback on this.

Joinmarket, decentralized, open source, peer-to-peer, non-custodian, since 2015 : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=919116.0;all

JoinMarket is a really good start (and it definitely won't be banned).

Actually now that I've read about it, I would like to contribute to it myself. It seems like the perfect promise for making the blockchain full of coinjoin transactions.

I heard the inventor (chris belcher) is not doing well with COVID-19 though, so hope he feels better.

Looks nice tbh, will check it out!
8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mixing Services on: December 11, 2023, 06:41:34 PM
If you want to develop something that is actually useful for Bitcoin (not for your personal profit) then look into the concept of CoinJoin and the existing implementation of it and see if you have any idea that could improve upon the existing ones, maybe even introduce a new more decentralized one!

Otherwise if you want to create yet another centralized mixer, you'll probably get shut down and possibly arrested soon after your "service" picks up a certain amount of traffic.

Hey,

Got it, will check it out! much appreciated.

Friendly advice;  if you want to develop something, why not try something you are actually familiar with?
Better still to develop his time to learn and make more research before trying to go into such services, I believe those who launches such mixing services has took more years to make findings on how they could executes their plans.
But sad news for OP did he read the message posted by theymos about mixers? If yes then I don't think here is the best place to further talks about his mixing service since from 1 January 2024 no mixers discussion or even post link that directly link to mixing website and whatsoever is allowed here anymore.

I sincerely apologize for that, I generally was not aware of that rule frankly.
10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mixing Services on: December 11, 2023, 06:39:44 PM
Look, I get why you asked, but this stuff is pretty sensitive in terms of privacy and security.  If I didnt know squat about locks, I shouldnt be telling folks how to secure their doors and  that make sense? Put yourself in their shoes.  If you used some privacy service and found out later the person behind it was clueless how would you feel? These coin mixing things are trying to hide trails.  I couldnt forgive myself if my newbie clumsiness undid all that for someone.

Friendly advice;  if you want to develop something, why not try something you are actually familiar with?

My apologies,
Actually I have been a web developer for the past 8 years, and developed some Crypto related payment features in the past,
I just couldn't find a nice documentation that explains bitcoin mixers and how they work exactly, so I was initially hoping for a documentation link haha.

11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Mixing Services on: December 04, 2023, 05:07:35 PM
Hey,

As a side project, I always wanted to develop a mixing services and explore this sector.
I have yet a problem of where I should start, since I do not fully grasp the idea of mixing and would love if anyone provided me with some research papers or documentations on how to implement mixing.

Mucho gracias

• Privacy-focused, with strict NO JS policy.

I expect you'll see harsh criticism soon since your website use CloudFlare. FYI, it's known CloudFlare decrypt traffic data[1-2].

It doesn't look very good what the OP is proposing, after all the answers, mainly about having a good bankroll and having a team to work with, not trying to do it on his own, he seems hell bent on doing it his own way:

Thanks for the replies guys, i will look more into this, and hopefully i will try to start a very small casino! will keep you posted of course.

Good luck with your project, but I would take things slower to learn more about the industry, surround myself with a team, and maybe look for an investor or funding in some way to back up the bankroll.

Yeah, keep us updated, although something tells me that if your project is a disaster you won't be coming around here much to update.

Not intending to do this alone at all, actually i am learning more and trying to understand the business and learning from this thread as well as taking every advice into account.

Thanks a lot for the feedback however.

You need to get more experience.

Not really.

Most online casinos weren't made by one person. He needs a team, at the very least a partner and they need to hire a team.
For instance, he has some coding background, so let's assume he learns a bit and covers backend dev. He needs a front end guy, possibly another back end with experience in crypto wallets, unless they want to handle all deposits/withdrawals manually, in such case he needs someone trusted to manage the wallet. He'll need someone to handle all the advertising and promoting, someone to take care of support... That's not a one man job.

Then we should talk funds.
How much do you have at hand? If that's less than $100k it's going to be hard. You'll have to cut cost somewhere and limit bets to some small numbers like $10 so they won't break your bank, but by doing that your business will scream "i'm low on money" and it will deter players.

For the Devs, I am full-stack dev, and I have experience with crypto wallets as well.
It is just that, I am a perfectionist and I like to learn everything before I jump in.
For the funding, honestly I am under 100K in budget, i wanted to start a small casino at first, just to gain experience and see where it goes from there.
Yet, i prepare hope for the best.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Looking to start an online casino on: July 22, 2022, 03:47:37 AM
Hey guys!

So I am interested in starting an online bitcoin casino, yet i have no idea how to start from.
I have a background in coding, and I know the in and outs of integrating crypto, yet i have zero game development skills, and i have no idea how much it will cost, and will it even get users.
Any help would be well appreciated! and looking for partners if anyone wants to start that.

Thank you!

20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Turn photos into Bitcoin wallets on: April 16, 2022, 05:11:07 PM
I like the idea and apart from security issues, would it actually take off??
Security issues are the main problem, so I hope this won't take off Tongue
My first idea when reading the title was to sha256 an image file, enter that into Bitaddress.org's Wallet Details tab, and get a private key. It's easy! But creating a backup is not easier than backup up a "normal" wallet.

I think Photo Seeds has a fundamental flaw:
Quote
Odds are much higher that someone will remember a photo or a number of photos, and the order of those photos before they remember 12 random words.
If you've ever played the memory game (kids are much better at it than adults), you'll know you can barely remember a few pictures. And every new picture you see makes it more confusing.

I mean, some people may remember photos much better than seed words i believe, and everyone and his own capabilities and all, like memory is flexible and different from one person to the other.
However, kinda a good implementation, looking forward on how the project will turn into.
