Ok, nice little feature useful especially for new wallet installations. But for DeepOnion survival, it is crucial to focus on big things. I saw that someone suggested on your forum wrapping of ONION into Ren, it looks like a very interesting idea.

Moreover, Ren already supports Zcash so they are fine with privacy coins and they are focused on privacy in general. You can check all details on renproject.io and contact them, because they plan to support more and more blockchains.


Good for you However, to be only a privacy coin is not enough today. Cryptoworld goes forward very quickly and with Aztec Protocol, there are zero-knowledge proofs available for ERC-20 tokens. This will result not only in private transactions, but also zero-knowledge trading, income distribution and untraceable smart contracts. Therefore your privacy features won't be considered as anything special.

Well, probably better than current situation, but I don't think multisig would be the best solution. How would you choose trustworthy persons/entities holding the keys? This multisig solution still requires trust, WONION solution would be trustless. Moreover, as WONION would be an ERC-20 token, the funds could also be easily stored in offline hardware wallets.

Regarding the privacy, ONION would remain a private coin with all its current features. WONION would probably have less privacy, but it can be rather an advantage. Remember that big centralized exchanges don't like privacy coins. And with their KYC, there is no privacy even in case of privacy coins. This ONION/WONION could be a smart way how to be both privacy and non-privacy coin/token, combining benefits of both approaches. ONION could continue with development of privacy features and WONION could be for all other purposes. As ERC-20 token, it could also be simply integrated to many DEXes, i.e. even more privacy of trading, quite a paradox

BTW, there are already ERC-20 tokens with integrated TOR and other privacy features, check e.g. PlutusDefi. So some level of privacy would be possible even for WONION, if necessary. And for the purpose of storing of Dev funds, no privacy is needed, because the address is public anyway.

The most important thing now is to assess how technically difficult and time demanding would be creation of WONION. Considering the fact that DeepOnion blockchain is derived from BTC blockchain and WBTC already exists, it shouldn't be unrealistic.

Wrapped ONION (I also like the name WONION) would be extremely useful and not only in interacting with other ERC-20 tokens and DeFi projects, but it would in general enable smart contracts much earlier than they will be developed as a second layer on top of DeepOnion blockchain.

As a result, it would be possible to convert Dev and Bounty funds from ONION to WONION (of course with ratio 1:1) and lock them via smart contract in the near future. I have noticed that this fund locking is becoming more common among new projects, most simple is a time lock, e.g. every year some part of the funds can be released from the smart contract. This would massively increase trustworthiness of this project and might attract many new investors.

And it seems that there are already solutions for this such as trustswap.org mentioning time-locked tokens as one of its usecases. Even more complex event-released payments should be possible.

I really like this kind of brainstorming, but it would be nice if more Team members participated. Especially a feedback from some tech guys such as the Devs would be very beneficial.

That would be of course great if DeepOnion gets implemented (and really used) as a payment option in shops, restaurants and other services, e-shops, etc, but this has been discussed for years and no significant progress achieved. And why would anyone even implement DeepOnion in the current situation when nobody is using it?

Regarding DeFi, it is still quite new and it might become much bigger. I don't expect that already big DeFi projects from top 100 on CMC would be much interested. But I think that DeepOnion should approach some newly created and/or smaller DeFi projects. As many of these projects will start to grow with current DeFi hype, DeepOnion could grow with them.


Yes, that's one thing, collateral. And I saw some DeFi projects focused on privacy of their users so DeepOnion could co-operate. Moreover, there could be finally some usecase for DeepVault, it is a decentralized notary service so it could be integrated into some DeFi project. These projects will offer more and more decentralized services, not only lending and exchanges, but also e.g. insurance so they might be interested in notary services as something additional as their competition advantage.

But currently there might be a technical problem, because DeFi projects usually work with ERC-20 tokens. I believe it will change in the future, but it might take some time. However, it might be possible to create ERC-20 compatible wrapped ONION as there is already e.g. wrapped BTC.

So the Team should definitely explore this area more as it might be a great opportunity. Of course, it can turn out that there are no significant benefits, but it is worth trying.

Of course alternatives are needed. Competition is healthy and it doesn't matter where are the guys in DO team from, important are the results. So let them show us what they can do.


It's good to be mentioned on YouTube, but this video has less than 300 views, would be nice if some bigger youtuber notices this project. There have been recently many videos about altcoins, because BTC was boring, but almost all talk only about DeFi, privacy coins are not interesting now. Hopefully, their time will come again.

BTW, it would be useful if DeepOnion starts to look for some partnerships among DeFi projects. It would also match the decentralization philosophy of DeepOnion.

If you mean DeepSend, it is indeed active on mainnet. But it is fair to honestly admit that there is currently nothing unique about it. It is a simple coin mixer with limitations both in terms of privacy (not using canonical amounts) and transaction size (equivalent of cca 50 USD). The only benefit is that it is built-in directly inside the wallet and therefore it is not necessary to use third party services, which can be quite risky.

Don't understand why Segwit activation takes so long and why hard fork is needed. If I remember correctly, in case of BTC, it was activated in 2017 and only a soft fork was needed. Moreover, I don't see any connection between Segwit (improving speed and safety) and smart contracts, but I'm not a Dev. And lightning network is a sad story in general. Just several years of talking about it and almost nobody implemented it for BTC, but that's of course not your fault. And to be honest, DeepOnion does not need it as a priority, transactions are fast enough. You should definitely prefer smart contracts. There is also a big demand for it in your community and in whole cryptoworld.

Can't believe that after years from the initial announcement of DeepSend, you will just start with a research for usable version of this privacy flagship feature of your coin. Prioritize this, because current DeepSend is useless.

To sum up, this roadmap is definitely better than no roadmap. Just don't overestimate importance of DeepVault, translations and forum updates and prioritize DeepSend 2, smart contracts, efficient social media marketing and finding compatible partnerships.

Plus you forgot at least 1 new reputable exchange. And I cannot imagine how would you get it without having a representative with revealed identity. Same with serious businesses as partners. Who would co-operate with a totally unknown entity? If you don't want to reveal your identity, find someone who will do it for you.

I see your point, but I don't think it would destroy the project. It will not destroy Dogecoin and it would not destroy DeepOnion more than it is destroyed now. I was also not a fan of these artificial pumps, but look e.g. at Verge, it had pumps and dumps in the past, even some scandals and in spite of this, it kept its position in top 100 on CMC. Huge pump would cause that many people will finally notice this project. You know the saying "any publicity is good publicity".

BTW, when talking about saving the project, saw some discussion about TikTok recently on DO forum. Even though I'm not using it, I see the opportunity here, if played smart. The Team should not wait too long when all coins are present there and prepare some video with viral potential. It will cost you no funds, just your time. I assume you know what happened to Dogecoin recently because of TikTok video. Doubled price, huge trading volumes and additional 300 million USD of market cap was a result.

I agree and that's what I meant by useless - it is useless now. I mentioned it in one of my previous posts, these translations would make sense in case of mainstream adoption and not in case of a coin with market cap below 1 million USD.

Such amount of ONION could be used much better. Either it is just another example of missing strategy or maybe even worse, it is done intentionally just to show some activity. It was also explained in my previous post - there are currently neither funds nor skills for anything important and useful.

Nature forces are not under human control, DeepOnion is a project which is under human control and therefore its scarce resources should be used wisely.

Of course, I will not participate, you don't have to advise me this And yes, people who participate spend their time and energy, but on a useless thing. They deserve a reward, but because the result is useless, I call this initiative just wasting. Wasting of ONION on one side and wasting of time and energy on the other side.

But I understand that some people will like it, because it is very easy way to get 1000 ONION, which is still a nice amount of money in some countries.

You are very well aware that your funds are too low to hire competent professionals and that skills of your current Team are very limited, therefore no real progress can be achieved. So you will just encourage tasks requiring almost no skills such as translations and market cap game in order to create an impression that the project is still active. And you will be waiting for the bull market or sudden increase of demand for privacy coins. What a great plan, keep up

I appreciate your effort to help the project. Ignorance of the Team is a standard here so it isn't surprising me. Much worse is in this case that it means that even the Devs are not convinced about quality of DeepSend. And offering same or similar amount of ONION for this important review as for useless translation to a single language is just ridiculous.

Is there anyone able to explain me the benefit of spending 1000 ONION e.g. for Finnish or Danish translation? Nothing against these countries, but they have just a few million people who are almost all able to understand English, especially those who are interested in crypto.

At this phase of the project, spending of thousands of ONION for these translations is purely wasting. This would make some sense only in case of mainstream adoption which will happen in case of ONION in a very far future, if ever.

Another sad thing is that even when the Team makes some useful effort such as working on addition of DeepOnion to Trust wallet, this effort is refused by the third party. Don't know the exact reason of this latest fail, but wouldn't be surprising if it's again connected to the anonymous Devs and huge pre-mined Dev fund issue.

Dev fund completely in ONION is probably the biggest problem, because it is connected to all other problems. And I'm not talking only about potential uncontrolled dumping of funds, missing exchanges and investors. Due to decreasing ONION price, the Dev fund is almost worthless and therefore there are no funds to hire professionals for marketing and more developers, e.g. for smart contracts.

It's very difficult to get out of this sh*t now. The only solution seems to be to lock the Dev and Bounty funds by smart contract enabling release of funds only upon VoteCentral agreement under very strict and transparent rules. I already proposed this some time ago, but no official feedback received, of course.


I really start to think that this project is becoming just a joke. Level of amateurism is getting higher and higher. Instead of spending ONION from the Bounty fund e.g. for finding vulnerabilities in DeepSend as someone was suggesting, there are being wasted 1000 of ONION per language for translations to almost all languages of the world. As if a few main languages were not sufficient. And asking questions like if Dutch is same as German is just another sign of total ignorance, if I should remain polite.

If you are missing basic knowledge, try at least Google search before asking. And when you start googling, try to find also something about marketing, project management and professionalism in general. Also stop wasting time and ONION for the useless market cap game nobody cares of.

Unfortunately, combination of anonymous Devs and huge pre-mined Dev fund can be unacceptable for many big exchanges and investors.
