How will it compete for miners against 0% PPS pools such as btcpool24.com or abcpool.co or BTCServ

FYP

btw, btcpool24.com is dead.

Everyone should read the 2nd recent post: (was it on purpose that you posted the way less important news of changing miner passwords again to make it to the top?)

Still hoppable. This only changes the hop off point. Give me some time to finish the slush blogs, and I'll make bitcoinpool hoppable again.

still hoppable, but you would be forced to re-hop to the pool, if you set hop-off point to 51%, and submit new shares in longer than average rounds what decreases your value of course

After much consideration and review of how our anti-pool hopping system is looked upon by members of the Bitcoin community, we have chosen to change the way in which it is working.

In the Past:
If a user participated in less than 50% of the round, their shares would be reduced by 10%, unless a donation was set, in which case, no penalty was applied.

This allowed for our users with legitimate disconnects, or reasons for being unable to mine during long rounds to avoid being hit with a penalty.

Some people seem to belive that this is a negative aspect of the anti-hopping system due to the easily cheatable nature of the system and the fact that pool hoppers are still given a large incentive to exploit our pool.

From Now on:
If a user participates in less than 50% of the round, their shares will be reduced by 50%, regardless of donation. 50% of the penalty fee will be directed toward the donations account and will be applied to server costs and future monthly contests. The other 50% of the penalty will be removed from the total shares for the round, which will in-hand cause the value of all remaining shares in the round to increase.

Example -

100,000 shares are in the round.

User A has 5000 shares and is NOT a hopper. Their estimated earnings before penalties are applied is 2.5 BTC.

User B has 5000 shares and IS A hopper. Their estimated earnings before penalties are applied is 2.5 BTC.

Once penalties are applied, User B's shares are reduced to 2500 where 1250 has been credited to donations and 1250 has been removed from the round. After the penalty is applied, User B's unconfirmed earnings are 1.265 BTC and User A's unconfirmed earnings are 2.5316 BTC.

At this time, any donation currently set on your account will remain in place. Donations will be processed prior to any penalties. As a reminder, donations are entirely voluntary and are not required to use this pool.

We will use this new method of calculating penalties for a one week trial period, at which time we will decide whether or not it is effectively deterring pool hopping and effectively rewarding loyal members of the pool.

BitcoinPool Staff

Because this pool has temporary bad luck , means its the best time to jump in   Smiley

Better don't start gambling. Lots of gamblers also have a feeling..

Well,   Its not exactly Mathematically based...  more a feeling...

Well, its exactly bullshit, so cant be mathmatically based ever.

BTC guild had a patch of very bad luck..close to -50% over a period of time.
I moved to them and had a nice amount of extra btc because of  swing in the luck to the positive.

Good for you, but this could have happend if the pool had found 1000 blocks in 1000 shares before that too. Chance does not have a memory.

cuqa, while i truly appriciate your acitivity in this thread, i would suggest that you take your nonsense somewhere else, so we can keep this thread for people actually mining on our pool.

As noted on the official bitcoin wiki's, all shares and block information is public available so that accusations by morons like yourself would have no impact on the pool.

u know that noone can see if you have found a block or not unless you give the signal. that information is not public..

very nice seeing you talking more and more shit .. i remember you said "almost all the work for the current block is done, cant take long to solve it" .. lol, as you obviously know that there is no such thing as progress on Bitcoin blocks, I can just shake my head and pity everyone who uses your pool.
10  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: August 23, 2011, 05:55:40 PM
The promotion was ridiculous.
Ambigious rules made the promo very shady in the first place in my opinion and regardless of how you review promo, the pool operator looks like a moron.

Either he
 - knew that 10 blocks will never be hit within 3 hours by his pool and tried to trick others to joining his unprofitable round and does not care about miners.
 - or he is just dumb and extremely overestimated the effect of the promotion. He said in IRC that he expected 2 TerraHash, what should make everyone roll eyes, also 2 TH/s would only solve 3 blocks on average within 3 hours ;>

(You might argue that it is obvious that he meant 10 blocks of his pool. For me it was not obvious, so I asked and did not get an answer. Also in IRC he did only answer after several personal directed questions, even though the chan was not very active at all.)

Whatever the reason was, either he is stupid or he tricked miners for short term benefit and both characteristics are severely negative for a pool operator. I assume he is the latter what makes it even worse.

Also I have heard from several people that he promised 1x 6990 to the finder of the block, later he declined that.

I gotta say I also dont understand why he still has 40 GH/s in this heavily stuffed round. I got the feeling many many people dont have a clue how it affects proportional payout when joining a round in the late stage, even though the system is very simple.

I personally would avoid such pools. If you stick with those businesses you demand getting robbed in the end. OP did promote a promotion which was not even a promotion at all. That's why everyone should be pissed, stop their miners, cashout and never come back.
I would not be surprised if OP did find some blocks lately and just did not make them public because he has the plan to orphan the pool anyways and is trying to get the best out of it in the end.

i recommend to remove bitcoinpool from the rotation. its obvious that they fake their shares as decoy and then even demand a fee. also they are so unprofessional in every way.. avoid!

you have some screen capt to sustain that ?

you dont need a screen capture. just watch their json file for a couple of mins and you will see
