1  Economy / Speculation / how many Bitcoin do you need to live comfy in event of hyperinflation? on: October 22, 2020, 07:10:40 PM
how many Bitcoin do you need to live comfy in the event of hyperinflation? is 1 BTC enough?

hyperinflation for nocoiners
hyperdeflation for bitcoiners
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Small dip in BTC price after Trump stimulus tweet on: October 07, 2020, 03:52:20 AM
If this tweet has really something to do with the sudden drop, then it means the crypto market is influenced by powerful leaders like Trump. What if the tweet comes from a third world country president? I don't think it will have an impact in crypto market. But I am still wondering if this kind of tweet has really impact in crypto. Is it just coincidence and there are other underlying factors why bitcoin drop a lil bit?

Not so much trump, but the money printer effects the price of Bitcoin. When he said "no stimulus deal" it means the money printer is not being turned on High.

If every country stopped printing money, or even just the USA, it could probably crash bitcoin. But that would never happen because the country itself is in so much debt and its only way to manage the debt is to print trillions
3  Economy / Speculation / will early sellers buy back in eventually? Will lambo buyers trade the lambo4btc on: October 03, 2020, 01:32:46 AM
imagine all those people who sold Apple, Microsoft, Amazon in the 1999 bubble. I bet they own those stocks again, probably cashed out and bought a lambo, only to buy back the  shares at double to even 10x the price. will the same happen to bitcoin?
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: empire market exit scam = caused the price to drop yesterday? on: September 04, 2020, 10:46:22 PM
Didn't watch the video, but as far as I know, that news was like 10 days ago.

Right the exiting part happens 10 days ago. Ovbiously they wouldn't deposit the coins on the exchange the same day. The person was busy for a few days closing up shop, and then had to launder the bitcoins, and doing whatever else a drug lord does with their week.
5  Economy / Speculation / empire market exit scam = caused the price to drop yesterday? on: September 04, 2020, 10:05:05 PM
heres the story about the exit scam  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vlt0lLzzYQ&ab_channel=SlightlySociable

basically, Empire Market was the most recent edition of the Silk Road. The admin took all the Bitcoins and ran. Guessing it was a few millions of dollars worth of Bitcoins. So maybe he dumped them yesterday and that's what caused the price to drop?

Think we'll see the price walk back up over, if this is the reason. Seller is gone!

10  Economy / Economics / Will bailouts become more frequent? on: August 25, 2020, 04:35:59 PM
1989 - savings and loans bailout
2008 - banks bailout
2020 - covid19 bailout aka wall street bailout

bailouts get bigger every time. But will they become more frequent?? Do we need more bailouts to bailout the aftermath of the previous bailouts?
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: This time when the stock market crashes, Bitcoin will go to moon! on: August 20, 2020, 02:47:44 AM
I was talking about if stocks crash again. looks like stocks are starting to dump today.

But yes, regardless if stocks go up or down. Bitcoin only has one direction to travel to the moon
12  Economy / Speculation / This time when the stock market crashes, Bitcoin will go to moon! on: August 20, 2020, 02:24:59 AM
We all saw it in March everything crashed stocks, bitcoin gold, everything. Some fools think that if the stock market dumps again that Bitcoin will go with it. They are wrong. 2 days ago when Bitcoin broke above $12k, somebody bought 17k BTC off coinbase and moved them into their own wallet. It wasn't Grayscale and it wasn't Microstrategy, it was a different whale. And when bitcoin came back down under $12k yesterday, someone bough another 3k BTC and moved them off the exchange.

The supply accross exchanges found on public wallet trackers is 1,787,873 BTC. At this rate the supply on exchanges will continue to drop and the halvening magic will do the trick it does every 4 years.

This time people will sell their stocks and transfer money to bitcoin exchanges. Stock go down. Bitcoin goes up
13  Economy / Economics / The Fed is talking about letting the inflation rate rise above its 2% target. on: August 19, 2020, 08:42:46 PM
https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-07-17/the-fed-is-setting-the-stage-for-a-major-policy-change

"Having learned a hard lesson in the last recovery — don’t tighten monetary policy too early"

"In practice, that means the Fed will not just emphasize actual inflation over forecasted inflation, but will also attempt to push the inflate rate above its 2% target. "

basically the article says the fed has some missed time to make up for since we had a period of lower than 2% inflation, well need say for example 3% inflation to make up for that lost infation.

14  Economy / Economics / Are there any Bitcoin ETFs in other countries? For ex on the London stock exchan on: August 17, 2020, 04:53:03 AM
There is a Bitcoin ETF listed on the USA stock market called grayscale, we all know about this one. Every country has its own stock exchange, Im sure there are Gold ETFs in each countries stock exchange. So eventually each country might have its own Bitcoin ETF listed on their stock exchange.

Any info on a Bitcoin etf on the China stock exchange, or London stock exchange, Italy stock exchange, ect?

Big investors could soak up a ton of coins to get these going. to the moon

17  Economy / Economics / Re: Since jobs are unlikely to return, Do u think there will be a 3rd $1200 stimulus on: August 05, 2020, 08:04:05 PM
Regarding the title of this thread, I don't agree with the premise "since jobs are unlikely to return".  People are starting to realize that this strain of coronavirus isn't some second coming of the black plague, and businesses are starting to reopen (at least in the US).

Thats not the issue that causes jobs to not return... Its change of behavior. You get used to cooking at home, your diet changes, routine changes tend to have a longer lasting effect on restaurants ect. But even bigger is the work from home change. Many jobs are saying hey this work from home thing worked for a few months, we can do it permanent and save money on office rent. This for sure kills the restaurant next to the office, the gas station on your way to the office, and more. And then lastly, they once a job is remote work, they can outsoruce it to India.
18  Economy / Economics / Since jobs are unlikely to return, Do u think there will be a 3rd $1200 stimulus on: August 05, 2020, 04:37:23 PM
how about a 4th $1200 stimulus check. A 5th $1200 stimulus check. A 10th stimulus check. How many times will this do this? infinate stimulus check?

19  Economy / Speculation / Custodial accounts for bitcoin the more important than could have ever thought on: August 04, 2020, 07:09:09 PM
common advice for buying bitcoin is dont leave money the exchange, it could get hacked and stolen.

So here's how custoidal accounts work, you wire transfer money to the exchange and there is no withdrawal feature, the only option is to sell and wire transfer cash back to your bank account.

This means even if your coinbase account gets hacked, the hacker can not steal your money. It creates the same safety of a brokerage account for stocks. Only wire in and out.

Now, put yourself in the shoes of a multi-billion dollar investment fund. You want to place million dollar bids and wait for them to fill. But the common advice is dont keep money on a exchange. With a custoidal account its safe to keep on the exchange. This creates huge bid support and more liquid trading.

Custoidal accounts are what will take us to the trillion+ market cap

P.S. if a custoidal account wants to withdrawal bitcoin. Imagine they accumulate $1 billion worth of bitcoin and decide to withdrawal it. They can do it in a very secure way:
 1) create a non-custodial account and deposit $1 billion dollars
 2) place a sell limit order on the custodial account for $1 billion dollars *
 3) place a buy limit order on the new non-custoidal account for $1 billion dollars. *
 4) the matched orders sync up and securely transfer form one account to the other
 5) withdrawal the $1 billion dollars USD from the custodail account
 6) withdrawal the bitcoin from the new non-custodial account

*note it would likely not be a order on the open exchange, but instead a service the OTC desk offers behind the scenes, but you can see how this plays out. It is extremely safe to accumulate and with still allow withdrawals via this method even for billion dollar sizes.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Not many try to buy on Bitfinex, but many try to sell on Bitfinex these days... on: August 03, 2020, 05:33:39 PM
I thought I remembered bitfinex get hacked in 2016-2017 too (I'm bad at time organising my brain so it could be any time lol) but I don't get why peopled use them in comparison to somewhere easier like coinbase... They could be from 2014-2015 instead and be cashing out nicely now...

I would guess that about half of them gave up and panic sold at 3k and the other 49% are forever holders. The other 1% have parked sell order on the ask exactly for the price they bought it for.
