Coalcoin is a fork of Litecoin, Coalcoin aims to be a general-purpose currency, encompassing small businesses, industries, and individuals. Coal hopes to be the new mining standard, anyone with one arm can mine coal, or anyone with a computer can mine coalcoin.
Although it is true that with only one CPU or GPU you can mine Coalcoin, the algorithm used, (Scrypt), allows the entry of ASICs, so after a few weeks, mining with CPU become inefficient.
