1  Economy / Gambling / Re: Pokertime - deposit/withdraw crypto to play poker on: July 08, 2020, 07:24:37 AM
My club owner - He runs a club that I play with in another app (PPPoker if you've heard of it) told me that the players here are more fishy.

what is the draw of these poker clubs? the whole web of affiliates and intermediaries and worrying about shady club owners---why bother with all that?

i get it from the club owners' point of view. they get a cut of their players rake, so of course they're gonna shill it. but what is the draw as a player? is that it---you're trying to draw in players for your club? Wink

PPPoker seems to be plagued by similar allegations as pokertime: https://professionalrakeback.com/affiliates-and-players-screwed-by-pppoker-over-bot-accusations

i just don't get it......

The reasoning is cause most of the players here are chinese recreational players, not those sharks that dominate all of the online poker scene elsewhere.

bovada/ignition are good for soft games. no HUDs (or at least they are actively blocked), and lots of sports betters too.

The idea is that the players on these platforms are much more recreational than bovada/ignition/pstars/888poker. I've played online poker for many years and for the past 3-4 years it's all about game selecting as the games get tougher.

Let's take a platform like PPPoker for example - if your club owner gets caught or decides to run with the money, you're screwed. But on pokertime you are the one in control of your funds, u don't need to settle through an intermediary etc that's why I prefer this site.

I hope I'm not coming off as 'shilling' anything. As a player I don't get anything out of bringing people in. Come take a look or don't, I'm just sharing since it's a pretty rare thing to see a functional crypto/poker platform.

Cheers!

Anyways, sorry again for not getting back to everyone... I thought I'd receive notifications by email but didn't so thought the thread got no replies (as I posted in several other forums with 0 responses).

I'll be sure to check the thread every day and happy to answer any more questions. Pls also feel free to DM me. If anyone cares, I've played for 3 months now in their 10/20 , 20/40, 50/100(50) and 100/200(100) games and haven't had any issues (denominated in CNY).

Has anyone heard of Pokertime? It's  a poker app I got recommended and you can use BTC/ETH/USDT to deposit to get chips which are denominated in CNY. Seems pretty legit and the tables are super dam soft. But wondering if anyone else heard of it??

who recomend it to you ? close people ? if yes then that must be safe but if its recomended by strangers then dont just install or trust the app pretty easy  . check the app coments and do some virus scans .

dont just say its legit because many apps and sites can easily look legit nowadays but they hide something that we dont know . also what do you mean by soft tables ? i thought this was online but im shocked the way you descriibed it . how can you feel it

The reasoning is cause most of the players here are chinese recreational players, not those sharks that dominate all of the online poker scene elsewhere. That's why there's the CNY deposit/withdrawal, it's for the chinese players while crypto is for players like us who don't live in China and can still access the games I assume.

I prefer this app more than the others because I don't need to settle seperately with the club owner every week like the other apps. I can just deposit/withdraw any time I want so it's way more convenient from a player's perspective.

No it isn't (necessarily) legit and the best place to check is the POKER forum that has been around since the early 2000's called twoplustwo.

This is a bitcoin forum with some spammy bitcoin/crypto gambling sites promoting themselves and a few legitimate good bitcoin sites many players can easily find in google even.

Pokertime scam warning

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28/internet-poker/pokertime-scam-warning-1759746/index2.html

It is a poker club format where (apparently) some clubs have seen players funds locked by the site and held for little to no reason or understanding of the users.

Yep I also saw this thread and definitely was some cause for concern. But if you look into that thread, they actually resolved the issue and the funds were released back. Pokertime has frozen funds multiple times but ONLY if there is proven collusion on the table. They are one of, if not the toughest platform on collusion. Players will play from different devices, spoofing different IP's and sit on the same table with their friends etc, we all know that collusion is extremely prevalent in online poker and I for one invite this strict hammer by them.

There are 100+ tables running in the club I'm in alone, so I am pretty confident in the platform's credibility. But again, it's always good to be skeptical when it comes to online poker.

hey sorry for not getting back to everyone.

yeah it's pokertime.cc it's a mobile app. I was also pretty concerned regarding the RNG as heaps of apps similar to this have been known to be rigged. I got into contact with their team and have confirmed they are gaming labs RNG certified: https://access.gaminglabs.com/Certificate/Index?i=357 so at least in this regard they are pretty legit. I've personally also have not experienced any weird RNG issues.

As for 'too good to be true', there's nothing 'too good' about it. It's just a place where I've found the games to be relatively soft cause it's like 90% chinese recreational players that's all.

You don't play with the crypto, you deposit the crypto and you get chips to play with which are 1:1 to RMB. You can convert these chips to crypto at any time and withdraw at any time, and I've tested deposits and withdrawals multiple times with no issues. The chips can also be sent to different accounts on the app instantly which is pretty sweet if you're multi-tabling or whatever.

To access the games you need to join a club which I got into through a previous club runner on a different app. If anyone is interested feel free to pm me and I can ask the club head to give you an invite. You don't even need to play, you can just rail and see the games for yourselves. Just a neat way to utilise crypto for poker in a place with a bunch of fish for me and thought I'd share/ask if anyone else has tried it.

Cheers!
