1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] sportsbet.io are illegally allowing players from France on: October 29, 2020, 07:36:16 PM
Clearly most of the replies above do not understand the content of my post. Let me summarise the reason for my post.

  • Gambling companies must be licensed and regulated
  • Gambling companies must follow the terms set out to them by their regulator
  • sportsbet.io is licensed and regulated by Curacao eGaming
  • Curacao eGaming speciically state, that sportsbet.io MAY NOT allow players from France.
  • sportsbet.io allowed me, as a player, from France, using no VPN, located in France, to play and wager bitcoin
  • This is breaking the terms that they HAVE to abide.
  • Everyone else I could find, that is also regulated by Curacao eGaming, blocks players from France. When you visit the website you are immediately blocked.

I understand that sportsbet.io can not list every single country, but Curacao eGaming specifically state a handful of countries. sportsbet.io should at least block these countries.

This was a warning for anyone who may be from France and possibly using sportsbet.io. Also a warning that sportsbet.io are clearly not following the rules of their license and players should proceed with caution as this raises red flags.

By the way, if I go to their site from a proxy in France, I will be blocked. If you are blocked, isn't it your responsibility if you still create an account yourself via a detour?

I was able to play, without a VPN. I am from France. When you visit from France, are you blocked? do you receive a message? Maybe this is a sportsbet error. Clarification is required.
Thanks

This is just to provide a warning to anyone playing on sportsbet.io, to carefully check that you are allowed to play on sportsbet.io as they do not perform adequate checks and are also allowing players from France to play on their platform DESPITE it being clearly against the regulations set out to them by Curaçao eGaming.

Hello,

We hope that this email finds you well.

We can confirm that It is not illegal for French to play on our site. Nevertheless, we advise you to ascertain with relevant authorities whether gambling is permitted in your territory.

Hope that we were able to answer your question.

Best regards,
Yuri
Sportsbet.io Customer Support Team

I also made AskGamblers aware of this recently and they updated their site to add France to the "Restricted Countries" section on the sportsbet.io AskGamblers profile page.

In relation to this part of the Curaçao eGaming website "Before reporting such non-compliance, please make sure the license holder is not operating under multiple licenses, allowing the legal operation in the above regions."

After using AskGamblers Curaçao section, I visited over 20 websites that also are licensed by Curaçao eGaming and can confirm that all 20 I clicked on restrict players from France.

Some sites are licensed by a difference license for French players, such as Cloudbet.com. They are licensed by Curaçao eGaming and E Gambling Montenegro, when you visit the site from france you are displayed with the Montenegro license and not the Curaçao.

sportsbet.io do not show any signs on their website that they are licensed by anyone else other than Curaçao eGaming, meaning they appear to be illegally allowing players from France.

If such a simple instruction from their regulator Curaçao is not abided by, I would suggest that you approach sportsbet.io with extreme caution if you are to gamble on their site. Unless sportsbet.io can provide clarification over this matter.
