I have never had any problems sending anything using Segwit BUT it now seems my new Nano S Plus only supports Native Segwit and Taproot.
I don't own any Ledger devices, but it appears that they're still supporting older address formats: How to add different formats of Bitcoin accounts in Ledger LiveI have sent a transaction from my old BTC Segwit to my new Native Segwit and it appeared virtually instantly even though it still shows as unconfirmed on Mempool?
It'd take roughly 10 minutes for each confirmation [assuming that you used an appropriate fee and there's no stress on the network]. Do I need to switch all BTC to Native Segwit?
If you're not planning to use a super outdated software or platform [compatibility issues, but it's super rare nowadays], you should make the switch [you'll also benefit from its lower transaction fees]. - If I were you, I'd worry more about their recovery tool: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entitiesRe-fees/address- I’m not sure I would save anything on fees by doing the extra transaction to Native? Re- I can’t believe anyone would use that recovery service! You are literally giving your Recovery Phrase online!!!
Anyone advise please?
Yes, you should STOP using ledger devices and wasting money on them and on other closed source hardware wallets Learn something from bad examples of Tangem wallet. Do I need to switch all BTC to Native Segwit?
No you don't need to do it. New address format starting with bc1 can help save on transaction fees, but you can continue using older format staring with 3 if you want. Just googled Tandem and the problem they had had here. Is this what you are referring to? Seems like something I would never use tbh. -https://tangem.com/en/blog/post/tangem-resolves-log-issue/ I ONLY use my ledger via an old laptop basic witu protection that is only used for transactions coupled to ledger. Why suggest to STOP using? Surely akin to a paper wallet but with further encryption. Cheers

Hi All
Just received a new Nano S Plus and have current Standard Nano that I have used previously.
I’ve set it easily enough and just added a BTC account and noticed that it’s different.
I have looked on Ledger and know there are 4 types of BTC -Legacy (old), Segwit, Native Segwit and Taproot.
When I added a new account my new Nano S Plus it has created a Native Segwit (adress starts with b) and a Taproot account.
All my BTC is on my old Nano S which is on Segwit (address starts with 3).
Is this ok? I have never had any problems sending anything using Segwit BUT it now seems my new Nano S Plus only supports Native Segwit and Taproot.
I have sent a transaction from my old BTC Segwit to my new Native Segwit and it appeared virtually instantly even though it still shows as unconfirmed on Mempool?
Anyone advise please?
Do I need to switch all BTC to Native Segwit?
Thanks

Update-
The S9j boards were exactly the same as the my S9.
I swapped it for a faulty S9 and it’s running slower/Mhz than the other two?
Is the control PCB picking it up?
so three boards 4.4th s9 4.4th s9 4.1th s9j total 12.9 I put typical numbers that may be close to you if set at full speed. Please let us know your numbers for each board. anything close to what I am listing is likely silicone lottery and the aging process. really way different numbers like 4,4,2 means the low board is failing I’ve just put an S9J board into a standard S9. The S9 was running at 900w on BrainsOS. The S9J board would not go above 550hz. Flashed with old type FW and it’s rubbing at 14Th stable!

Hi All
I know for a cheap S9J and have never ran one before. I have only ran S9 or S9i.
I’ve had a search/google and it ‘seems’ the hash boards are compatible with an S9i?
Most are saying it’s basically an overclocked S9i ?
Can anyone confirm this please so I can swap the faulty boards I have on my S9/S9i’s.
Thanks
S9 and S9js are the same hashboard size, S9i is different, it's a bit smaller (the hashboads heat sinks), my information is accurate dating to as far back as maybe 2-3 years ago when I last laid my hands on anything S9, so take it with a grain of salt. However, if you manage to physically fit them, they will work without a problem even with the stock firmware, I still remember scammers putting S9 hahsboards in S9j because the J was selling at a bit higher price, the S9i was always the most expensive among them all because it was unique and they couldn't fit S9 hashboards in it. There’s me thinking the S9i what’s the ‘top end’ model of the S9 with its smaller heat sinks. When I searched I was finding answers that stated the S9J was just a standard S9 but slightly overclocked from stock. I only want the boards to put in 3 standard S9 I have with faulty boards. Seems like a waste now.l…. Thanks.

I have not tried anything yet tbh as I have not got the S9J.
I have in the past tried swapping s9 and S9i boards but the heat sinks are physically are different height so not compatible.
I presume BrainsOS is on their site somewhere and each model of S9 has its own FW version?
Thanks
yes and no braiins has the firmware on their website and does not have multiple s9 firmware they have one inclusive firmware for most every s9 https://braiins.com/os-firmware/downloads9,s9i,s9j = yes s9k = no Brilliant. Looks simple enough to upgrade via flash by directly or via SD card/inage/jumper pins.

Thanks, yep confirmed and saved myself some money. Great advice and help as usual.

@Charles-Tim Great description and as you say most of these ''accelerators' don't achieve anything.
I'm still waiting on my tx, if there a better way to monitor it once its been inputted to ViaBTC?
The increased fee's are ridiculous, over £9 for the smallest increase.
How long will it take approx?
Thanks
|
|
|
Thanks, i've also set a countdown timer so i can broadcast it every hour.
Also it now shows on Electrum and gives me option to increase the fee, the lowest i can set it is 250 sat/byte !!
I will wait i think as i detest paying high fees and i am in no rush whatsoever.
You all have been a great help, i'll update when confirmed.
I'm off to read with why its so crowded....
Cheers

Thanks for that, much appreciated. All transactions show on Electrum and match my ledger transactions perfectly except for the one i have linked? It is simply not showing?? I recall the 'free' bump or 'accelerators' from years ago but never had any joy with them tbh. Is it worth checking again on Electrum, as above i only put in a fee of 25.7 sat/vB / £0.93. I've always just kept it under £1 when sending and never had any problems, i have never seen it this congested before! It's becoming unusable, surely something has to be done? This is another one, is it worth me broadcasting on there as well? https://bitaccelerate.com/Thanks UPDATE -It is showing again on LCS but it has not been confirmed, how can that be? It done this when i first sent it Saturday but after a few hours the balance returns back as showing not received...There's no way of tracking BTC in and out on the platform, all you have is a balance.

Hi All I sent some BTC to Local Coin Swap on Saturday 06/05/2023 (UK) and did not check mempool and selected my usual low fee as i'm in no rush. -Fee 4,251 sat£0.94 -Fee rate 25.7 sat/vB As i can see from reading on here it is very congested and its not processing. I then went to 'bump it'/increase the fee using Electrum, i connect fine but to load my transaction history i have to select the middle option/path - p2sh-segwit (p2wkph-p2sh) The bottom option that it recommends in the guide does not load any transaction history at all? GUIDE - https://support.ledger.com/hc/ru/articles/6183300395037-How-to-speed-up-a-stuck-Bitcoin-BTC-transaction-with-Electrum?docs=trueWhen all my transactions are loaded it does not show the transaction that is stuck? Also the odd thing is that when i sent it on the Saturday 6th it did show in Local Coin Swap but now it is has gone/removed. When you try to look at your transaction history on LCS it only shows your trades and not what goes in/out of your wallet! Anyone got any ideas on what is going on here and why the transaction does not show on Electrum but does on my ledger? What are my next steps, what are my options if any? It makes no sense that its not showing on Electrum?? Here it is - https://mempool.space/tx/4d915efe1c467c2611896c2314c91f9b5283a32bb69fb399d6fb7f152990421eAnyone help? Cheers

Yep, LBC and now Pax have gone.
Most i know are waiting on requests to join Noones due to massive demand, not one trader from the previous has joined/received email.
Regarding 'valid transaction proof', me and the purchaser agreed that the description i received did not make sense, i had numerous screenshots of his chats with Monese.
I still do not know if they operate as a normal bank regarding bank transfers, if they do then it's not a problem....
When i traded on LBC and Pax and selected Bank Transfer it would eliminate Monese from the search results?
Why??
|
|
|
It is only a small amount, i'm just building up a few trades on the site tbh.
Looks like i can carry over my feedback as well from LBC which is great.
The buyer raised the dispute, not me...I'm happy with his trades and FB tbh so will release BTC when a mod ends the dispute.
I was just querying if anyone has got stung by Monese? Seems not tbh, i know a few people who have got caught via Paypal though!!
EDIT -The seller has also stated that he can use Starling Bank for bank transfers in the future, not sure if that's any better? Its not listed on LBC info page...
Cheers

Thanks for the reply.
I’m using localcoinswap.com.
I set up sale as bank transfer but it shows as a ‘Credit Transaction’.
I have looked back at other payments I have received when I was on LBC and they are also labelled the same.
I’m thinking this might be ok?
The seller has now raised a dispute on localcoinswap.
Not sure what to do tbh but I’m pretty sure it’s ok and seller has good FB and has transported FB from LBC

Hi all
I just sold a small amount of BTC that was held in an escrow until I receive payment into my Barclays current account.
The mine is have come through and is showing in my account but I’m unsure if they can do a charge back and scan me?!
Anyone dealt with this. I have googled it but can’t get a clear answer.
Cheers

I can't find/see a way to remove Brains?
So you mean the SD card flashing with stock firmware from Bitmain can't able to replace your current firmware? Or you might just did the wrong way? If the SD card do not work then try the guide from Braiins documentation. Here check this link below - FLASHING A FACTORY FIRMWAREMy thinking that the older FW i have (you label it stock -pre brains) is a .tar file and not an image file like Brains. Brains therefore i can easily flash via SD card, the .tar older FW requires command line or some other process to flash (i'm talking pre BrainsOS 2017 FW etc, the old type Bitmain Fw) I honestly don't understand how to do it via the 'commands', i presume i use command prompt and manually enter details as it describes, plus i somehow create an image of the .tar file to insert in this command line? Brains FW already is an image file, so it's easily created to put on an SD card.
Since so many devices are affected, I would suspect that the there was some kind of voltage peak or similar at your location that damaged your miners. What you now need to find out is what parts are damaged.
It was water damage by the looks, i can now see it and the last two miners i opened that are nearest the cold air input tip garage they are in are were wet, we did have a big storm, power outages etc and a fine mist of water ha entered. They have sat as they are running for years until this, hence my first thinking was some sort of spike in current/network etc as it was all over the news/social media of big outages locally to me.
That's way to much work for me...
I just wish there was a way to downgrade from Brains to the old Bitmain FW, can't do it no matter how i try as some 2 cards work on the older 2017/2018/2019 FW?
There must be a way, i stupidly presumed that when i upgraded to brains that my SSH locked boards that i had to flash to NAND with SD card removed the lock, hence allowing you to downgrade if needed.
I can't find/see a way to remove Brains?
That's what bos-toolbox uninstall does, it puts factory fw from 2018 (which has ssh unlocked). sd recovery also works with the S9 family only. From what you describe, you have a hardware issue. A power fluctuation could easily damage your PSU causing that error. Various things to check/try, in no specific order: - Make sure the device is connected to ground at all times (case and psu). - Check all settings are default (Delete any value, then Save & Apply). - Try reducing power limit. Wait at least 12 hours for Tuner Status to show Stable. - Check the cables are well connected, try swapping or replacing them, tighten the power rail screws. - Disable the hashboard in Configuration > Performance > Override Global Hash Chain about 6 hours. - Try with another power supply unit, problems with the PSU can also manifest as HW errors. - Clean the device carefully, if you use liquids you should wait a few days to dry fully. If the problem persists, it probably has a physical issue that needs repair. I seldom read other threads (this forum is too large), so you should have listened to what BitMaxz said. Issue was water damage by the looks. I definitely need to look inti bos-toolbox, i did download it and did find it somewhat confusing tbh, then after reading on here some where saying it's main use is for large mining farms, mass flashing/control of 100's of miners etc and people were doing it simply via SD card, so i went with that and found the process simple and i only have several miner. Cheers [moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]

Why don't you just go check and read the braiins documentation about reverting or flashing it back to factory firmware? Check this link https://docs.braiins.com/os/20.03/open-source-en/Setup/2_upgrade_downgrade_uninstall.html#flashing-a-factory-firmware about JP4 if you just want to boot it to braiins without flashing it then you need to download the right firmware there are two options to download, the one is "auto-install to nand" and "Run from SD card" download the "Run from SD card" and paste the contents to SD. And then if you want to boot it don't forget to move the JP4 it is the same as how you flashed the unit before but this time if you move the JP4 to the original position then the miner will boot to the original firmware. Thanks, that's the link i was looking for, i could not find it. I fully understand the process to upgrade via SD card and run from SD card now, plus you have to flash the image not paste to the SD. Even after reading it i'm totally confused as it uses uses command lines etc and SSH? I was hoping to find an explanation for this tbh as once i have done it once i presume i will understand and find it relatively easy and i can help others like you. Even afetr reading how to 'downgrade' and have the old 'Community Edition' FW that i thimnk they now label it i do not understand how to flash it.. Thanks for replying and being undertanding, i'm getting there slowly, the tjought of installing BrainsOS seemed complicated at first now i find it simple. Hopefully i can do the same to downgrade and understand how to use these commands and flash back older 'community fw' i have.....

Where or what pool do you mine? Check carefully if you pasted it with extra spaces or letters because the miner will not work properly if the Url has extra spaces or extra letters.
Another thing is your internet may be very slow and unstable plus the pool server you use has a high ping.
Why not test it with BraiinsOS? If your concern is you don't know to put it back to stock firmware why not just boot the miner with an SD card instead of flashing it directly to the nand?
Brainspool as with all my other miners, all pool details are correct, I have messaged seller and he has stated to try hard reset, then upgrade. Also i'll download the file and try the run from SD card. Cheers UPDATE 1 -I changed the pool details from older slushpool to newer brainspool and it's working? When i entered the original details i just copy/pasted from a miner already running on older slushpool urls? UPDATE 2 -To run from SD card i presume you still need to move jumper 4? Can someone confirm this please. Thanks I always copy from the same miner out of habit....Very Odd Also where are the details to downgrade from Brains to the older Bitmain FW i have 500, 550, 600, 650 fixed plus variable FW that i used to use and i find some boards will only run on older FW? I can't find the downgrade guide, i presumed flashing BrainsOS would remove the SSH lock and allow you to flash anything? Cheers
