I think it would be good for the coin, if the sync multi pool would work even few weeks after the mining of sync have stopped. That way there is no new supply, but demand would grow, which would rise the price.

We would be happy to set up a pool for this coin, but when is the launch? There is very contradicting information in the ANN and the countdown... We assume the coundown IS correct, but tomorrow is not Friday. Cheesy

Friday 20th is in June. We'll see if the launch happens tomorrow. Or not.

If the blockchain is not reversed to block 7000, then the most rational behavior is to dump all mined/bought coins relatively quickly. If not, then due to this error, all early supporters and miners will have been diluted into oblivion. Also, if the total issue of coins is still at 1 billion, the miner reward will have to decrease drastically, and for lot of people there would be no incentive to mine CWC. In addition, you have no assurance that this kind of thing would not repeat again, so if you let the post error coins stand, you are only assured that they will live by the next fork whenever that happens. So why keep those coins and not exchange them for something more established that would keep value?

The team should let us know if the total number of coins and mining rewards will now change.
True. If we won't start again from block number 7000, those who supported the project from its begining will lost the most including the project itself. There is a lot of greedy people buying/selling/mining at this moment. I very much doubt they care anything about charity and basic CWC idea. I, also, am convinced many valued supporters will leave the community and the project will not support water to anyone due to its instability.

Well I was mining for at least 10 day's before this happened, want me to stop mining now when I have done in 15 minutes what I have done in 10+ day's ?
No you can't be willing that, so I am still mining this, and will keep on mining later, the project is nice. But if I miss out any of my coins pré- or after fork I will move on immediately ... Coins worth a bunch or not, it really doesn't matter what they are worth !

Well Mr. At Least 10+ Days, the coin launched a week ago. And for the rest of it, I couldn't make out anything more of it than a large written sentence: 'I'm greedy lying sob'.

The coin is not dead, it will just attract new miners as the price rises, assuming the dev team continues development.

It can't go much lower than 3-6 sats, right?

It can't go lower, but after block 8000 when people are getting 1000 coins a day no one is going to mine anything which is only worth 3000 - 6000 satoshi per day.
True. Everyone saying this situation might bring us some good in a future has absolutley no idea what 450 mil coins put into circulation in just ONE DAY mean for the coin, project, economy and the people who support it. There is a clear difference between steady grow and big inflation with shitload of worthless coins.

The only solution is to fork at 7000 and reverse a blockchain. I'd rather loose some pissed of miners who mined millions of coins during those 24 hours period, then people who have been with CWC from the begining.

I personally won't support it if blocks between 7000-8000 become valid. I just don't see the point and future for CWC then.

If you make too many pop-tarts, and you sell a lot of them cheaply to get rid of stock, it is not fair or right to then go hunt down the owners of the pop-tarts you sold and steal them back without giving said owners just compensation for their loss.

This is why I suggested using the re-launch, but with pre-mine set aside to compensate people who bought coins during this whole debacle. They could send the "old" coins to a dev wallet, and upon receipt, the dev could send an equal number of "new" coins to them.

Your example isn't exactly working, but going for it: If the pop tarts were stolen and if you knew it, you would lose your money. That's the law in every country I know. Too bad you bought them, but maybe next time you will learn that majority of people do consider dishonest people disgusting.

No, you won't. But the project will very much be over imho.

Yes it will / is. That's why I think the devs should reconsider and return to block 6999. If someone buys millions of WATER-coins with a BTC right now then he definitely knows there is a bug going on and he is only taking advantage of the situation. He should also know that in these cases there is a very high risk of losing it all. So instead of trying to save some guys pennies the devs should try to save the Clear Water Coin. Beside, con artists say that only dishonest men can be cheated. I very much believe the saying covers this situation right now.

What situation? There's a price in which people are willing to sell and to buy. Why it should be took away from them? If someone is buying WATER for his 3BTC, because people ARE SELLING THEM that cheap themself, why it should be looked like taking advantage? Then why people are not taking THIS advantage and NOT selling so cheap, m? It's sellers fault not buyers.

The situation when everyone sees that there is a bug in the system and it need to be repaired. There are two kind of people. First, the ones who take responsibility and say that ok, I mined 100k coins, but I can give them away because the coin dies if we all sell these coins. Second, the ones who take advantage of the situation, sell their coins when they got something for them or the ones who buy huge amount of cheap coins and then whine that it's unfair to delete the coins because they paid for them. And no, I don't think anyone thinks the number two type is clever, they are greedy and opportunistic.

Yeah, I heared on IRC. This coin had a great future, but by that mistake with block reward and the decision not to refork to 7000 block, this project is as good as dead I'm affraid.

What's wrong with the devs?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Hard Fork Coming] Clean Water Coin | $2,000 Donated to Charity: Water on: April 07, 2014, 09:43:03 AM
If the devs won't return the coin to block 6999 and delete all the millions of coins after that this coin is dead. No idea to mine something which is worthless due of millions of free coins knowing you never get what some got for free.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CleanWaterCoin POW+POS | 1st Nonprofit Organization Coin [$2000+ DONATED] on: April 06, 2014, 08:49:08 PM
Could someone tell what is this Pos-thing? I get 8% of my wallet coins for free if I run my computer (what a waste of energy) for 20 days with wallet open? And after that 8% after 20 days etc? And what is pow?

You don't have to keep it open for 20 days. Just make sure to open it every 20 days or so, and don't move the coins around to other wallets or exchanges if you don't need to, as this will reset the age of those coins.

Basically, after 20 days, you can magically create interest coins. The more WATER you have, and the older those coins are, the faster they will find a POS block and mint for you while your wallets open. Once all the minting is done, you can close it down again for 19-20 days if you want to. Or, leave it open to contribute to the network.

Great, thanks!

The network's hashrate is getting little too low for my liking. Any ideas how to get more miners into the coin? The twitter/fb/etc. approach isn't working very good, which might have something to do with the fact that I don't have any friends who would also be into cryptos.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CleanWaterCoin POW+POS | 1st Nonprofit Organization Coin [$2000+ DONATED] on: April 04, 2014, 08:52:47 PM

The rest is, I assume, for development of the coin. Getting it listed on a proper major exchange instead of many tiny exchanges which are barely used would seem to be a good step in getting the coin recognised and more widely used, and as such a good use of at least some of the roughly $12000 left over from the PLC.

Devs, please let me know if I'm wrong and clarify what the remaining 24BTC from the IPO will be used for.

Peng, I love your intensity. It's obvious you are incredibly passionate and that's what I respect.

The BTC from the PLC goes to a number of things that all build up Clean Water Coin. From server fees and additional development costs (updated wallet is what's being worked on right now) to marketing and media campaigns. None of the BTC from the PLC has gone to pay for anything personal or as some sort of salary--we are at such a critical stage and those funds are key to growing Clean Water Coin and that is exactly how they will be used. We won't be spending BTC to buy votes on some of these medium sized exchanges, and let me explain why. We want to be on Mintpal and Cryptsy and others, but rushing to those exchanges is very dangerous for the long-term health of a coin. Because we are so new and there is a relatively small amount of coins disbursed among the community we are very susceptible to a pump and dump scenario. We've had an incredible launch, have already donated $2000 to charity: water, and have attracted lots of attention and all that could be used against us to fuel a pump. But without a larger community backing us that holds a more substantial amount of coins the fallout from a pump and dump right now would cause serious stagnation and possible death. Don't worry, we aren't holding the coin back. We support the voting for Mintpal and your purchase of votes is an incredible gesture and hasn't gone unnoticed. This are hugely important steps in our growth.

Don't stop voting and don't stop emailing exchanges. Keep up the intensity. Participate in the new giveaway we just posted last night and help build awareness. I promise you, and everyone here, it is well worth the wait.
+1
No pump and dump please.
It harms the coin.

+1 from me also. I'm extremely happy with the devs of the coin, these people seem to know how to build something long lasting.

Get voting people it will take some time Smiley

https://www.mintpal.com/voting

Too much time at this rate!

The top coin in the voting has over 62000 votes and WATER has only 143 since I added another 5 votes this hour.

Mintpal does also accept paid votes, every 0.0001 BTC sent to 1ATDfAShJ7Ke5LJ7wFxeTZDN2yYMpqAoN5 will generate one vote.

(And no, that's not my BTC address - you can check it here: https://www.mintpal.com/voting)

Devs - will you consider using some of the 26 BTC collected at IPO to add some votes to get us listed at Mintpal?

Just one BTC will get us 10,000 votes!

I have just sent 0.01 BTC to get us rolling, that's 100 votes extra!

For those that didn't invest at the PLC stage, this is your chance to contribute. For those that did, don't stop now!

Nice idea but i'm sure paying for votes just to pad the pockets of gready exchanges is a waste of BTC better spent elsewhere,i would personally rather delete my wallet and throw my hard drives in a fire than give cash to any exchange in return for votes,it's a shameful practice in my humble opinion.

+1

Also I'm not in any hurry to get WATER to exchanges. Neither should anyone who is going to keep their coins for a longer time. Usually when a coin gets to a good exchange there are a lot of people selling their share as fast as they can, which leads to sudden drop in coin's value. I hope those people find another coin to dump as I would really like to see WATER to beat Auroracoin's value in few months. Besides, if CWC is going to be a profitable coin, there will be a great rush of miners at the moment people realize it, which is when it gets to a good exchange. I hope I myself have a lot of coins at that moment as difficulty probably will rise far above my rig to mine.

Regarding changing algo's, the litcoin devs shared important opinions and details about switching. Read what they had to say here: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=18166.0

**Edit**
X11 is still new, we need more time to watch it and see how it grows/functions over time. Waiting a month and analyzing X11 over that time makes more sense than rushing into it and finding out potential issues later. You guys should appreciate that we are taking extremely careful consideration, there are many factors at play and taking more time to determine those will only benefit us. It's our responsibility to provide a stable, healthy, and valuable coin--we cannot do that with knee jerk reactions.

Thank you, that seems a wise decision. You have at least my support.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HOC] ★ HouseofCoins | Community | Business | Power on: April 02, 2014, 08:51:09 AM
Sounds really interesting for investors, but tell me why should anyone mine this coin if all profit goes to "the house"? And if the coin's value rises "the house" still gets more than miners. As people tend to like fairness, I would guess that you get a nice bunch of investors but no one is willing to use their time and money to mine for them.

What's the situation with this coin? Shouldn't it be launched already? Is anyone mining it?
