2pc xfx 470 4gb hynix on same MB 16x slot

miner screen:

today have make order for MB with three 16x slot  Grin

RX470 4G cards on Asus Z170 PRO GAMING directly on PCI Express 16x slot

1st rig 3x Sapphire RX470 Nitro 4GB Hynix

2nd rig 3x XFX RX470 Black Edition 4GB Hynix

Good result. I think the third card isn't performing as the first two because of the RAM. If lolminer is using the RAM to compensate the vRAM missing, maybe at least 16gb RAM are needed, possibly 3200mhz so they are fast.

Thanks, but this is not the memory, somthing else, here is the specs of the MoBo
Expansion Slots:
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (Single at x16, dual at x8/x8, )
1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode, ) - i think that is the reason why the third works on smaller hashpower
3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x1

OK, now we know everything we need to know. In order to perform almost like 8gb card we need x8 lines for each 4gb card.

I do have ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ only, with only one PCI-e x16 slot. I placed a 4gb card in that socket without risers and it is giving me 28.5 mhs. All the other cards are on risers, the 8gb cards are running full speed for obvious reasons and for the remaining cards I am mining another coin...

I'm now getting around 27 mhs an increase of 10, pretty amazing. Cool

Can you provide us with the configuration you have? What card? How much RAM you have? Is the card on risers or Is It mounted directly to the mobo? What mobo?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.22: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: February 06, 2021, 06:04:28 PM
I confirm the 1.22 gave me back around 2.5 mhs per card. Amazing! RX570 4gb mounted on risers are hashing 15mhs.

I noticed also an increase of power consumption. Around 30W total per rig (4 cards working as zombies).
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.19: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: January 23, 2021, 02:26:29 PM
I think there is a new realease in the github of the developer... 1.20

There are some interesting things for mix Rig with 8Gb and 4 Gb... and also interesting for making dualmining ETH+ZIL and ETC+ZIL... that is quite interesting because if you change your 4GB card to mine ETC you can get a nice extra mining the ZIL... nice job!!

very good features. I am wondering if the algo mix can be done only with ETH+ETC or with some other algos, like ETH+BEAM. I will try.

Good for my rig with ethos. At the moment I have the lolminer integrated in the system that is mining ETH with the 8gb cards and then I run another instance with lolminer to mine beam.
I can do everything with the integrated miner with the 1.20. Very very very goooooooodddd

Finally managed to configure zombie-mode properly. Getting 24 MH/s with RX580 4GB cards at current ETH epoch.

24mhs maybe till yesterday. Now in the new epoch I am getting 22mhs more or less.
Cards impossible to find at normal prices. Before this crazyness I didn't close a deal for 10 EUR per card...what a stupid idea ahahah

Which configuration line do you use for the 22Mhs?.

It would be helpful to have some lines to see the different config files

this is the miner command generated by ethos:

su - ethos -c "/usr/bin/screen -c /opt/ethos/etc/screenrc.lolminer -l -L -dmS lolminer /opt/miners/lolminer/lolMiner --profile ETHOS --json /var/run/ethos/lolminer_config.json --devices 0,1,2,3,4,5 --4g-alloc-size 4080 --zombie-tune 2  "

this is the json file:

{
    "DEFAULTS": {
        "DEVICES": "AMD",
        "APIPORT": 42042
    },
    "ETHOS": {
        "COIN": "ETH",
        "POOLS": [
            {
                "POOL": "eu1.ethermine.org",
                "PORT": "4444",
                "USER": "MY_EMPTY_ADDRESS",
                "PASS": "x",
                "TLS": "0"
            }
        ]
    }
}

This is ethos config file:

maxgputemp 80
stratumproxy enabled
proxywallet MY_VERY_VERY_VERY_EMPTY_ADDRESS
proxypool1 eu1.ethermine.org:4444
poolpass1 x
fan 733d0f 20 35 30 35 35 40
globalminer lolminer
lolminer=flags --4g-alloc-size 4080 --zombie-tune 2 --coin ETH
safevolt disabled
cor 733d0f 1150 1150 1150 1150 1150 1150
mem 733d0f 2150 2050 2050 2050 2050 2050
vlt 733d0f 900 850 850 850 850 850

I think the picture of the user above about the 24mhs doesn't tell much. We need to see the shares and if the cards are getting rejected shares. Maybe it can also be the 580 is performing better than the 570 with this zombie mode.
With the config above I am getting 29mhs from the 8GB (two cards out of 6) and 22mhs from the 4GB cards (4 out of 6). Totally STABLE. I don't have time to stay all day long looking at the miners. I need to press a button and forget about them at least for one week.
The 8GB till the last update where getting 30.5mhs but it's like to speed up the 4GB the system is taking out something from the 8GB. The total however is very good. Hopefully with the 1.19 we will get even more!!!

ah...big thank you to miner29.

I did what you said and booooommmm Ethos running the 1.18 ;-)

Just wanted to tell you I just pushed the Linux build of lolMiner 1.18  Grin
(The Windows one will follow within 24 hrs)

Here is the repo link

This time especially some more candy for my beloved zombie mode users:

Feature Updates:
  •     Improved linux zombie mode power draw & speed Polaris GPUs (R9 380, RX Fury, RX 4x0 and RX 5x0). Depending on configuration, the zombie mode now uses 0.5 to 1W less energy and is 0.2 to 0.4 mh/s faster.
  •     Added --zombie-tune parameter for Polaris GPUs. This will increase the performance of zombie mode (further up on the general improvement) by an other 5-15%, depending on parameter and epoch (later epochs profit more). Default value is 0 (off), for most cards the value of 2 is optimal. If you see cards getting slower then before, set to 0 or 1. Note: you either can give one value for the whole rig or provide a comma separated list for each card individually. Cards not running zombie mode ignore the parameter.
  •     The parameter --4g-alloc-size can now also be set for each card individually
  •     Slight rework of Beam Hash III back end. Improves poolside hash rate by approx 0.2 to 0.3% - displayed hashrate and power consume kept equal.
  •     Added a 4G_Ethash_Linux_Readme.txt file to the Linux release, giving guidance how to configure for ideal zombie mode performance.

Fixes:
  •     Segmentation fault when the dns resolve of a pool fails
  •     Miner does not restart after connection loss.
  •     Applied potential fix for "address or port already in use" bug.

Please read the new 4G_Ethash_Linux_Readme.txt carefully to know how to configure the miner for ideal zombie mode performance.

For God's sake!!! You are the man!!!
I was getting 20mhs from my RX570 4GB and now they are pushing 23.6 mhs!!! Amazing!!!

On the other hand I was getting 30.3mhs from the 570s 8GB (same rig) and now they are pushing 29.8mhs
But it is OK!!! The grand total is around 13mhs higer than before. I guess the shares will follow ;-)

Thanks guys, very very good. I will try.

Now let's say I don't want to change EthOS because I don't have time (even if I am aware I should change it with a normal lightweight linux distro....). Can I let EthOS start lolminer at the startup with his own lolminer? And after it is mining to launch another lolminer for the 4GB cards?
Or do I need to disallow the miner launch from Ethos and launch the two miners indipendently?

Also I noticed the last lolminer available in Ethos repo is the 1.16. Is it an issue to let him run the 1.16, download the 1.17 and run a string from that folder?

Yes you can download and overwrite your lolMiner versiob 1.16 file...

Do you mean to overwrite the script only inside the folder that contains all the supported miners? Are the other files (if any) the same between 1.16 and 1.18? Please confirm
Because I would like to overwrite the 1.16 with the 1.18 one. Our best friend Lolliedieb is killing it  Grin. I need to try the new parameters as soon as possible.

Thank you Lolliedieb for the hard work. With the ETH prices going crazy like this, every additional mhs and every additional hour we can mine ETH is a big gift ;-)

Hi guys, I do have a rig with 6 cards, 3 with 8GB memory and 3 with 4GB memory. Now that ETH is ways more profitable compared to other coins I was thinking about dual mine.

ETH with the 8GB cards and BEAM or other ethash coins with the 4GB cards. Can lolminer do it? I can't find anything about.

Now I am mining ETH with all cards but the 4GB ones are in zombie mode because of the DAG size and they loose around 2mhs every epoch change...

Thanks in advance for the help.

You should run 2 instances, with the --devices parameter

My understanding is that that parameter understands --devices AMD and --devices NVIDIA. I have AMD only. I need to mine ETH with 3 8GB cards and BEAM with the remaining 4GB cards.

In addition to the above if I run twice lolminer with two different strings how can it work? I mean how is the JSON and config file going to be?

Make 3 test...
 Change TLS 0 to 1
Change TLS to 0 to ON
Remove TLS Lane... and let miner do it. Because the connection of 2miners is SSL.

With the information you have in the photo, is a connection problem of your file.

Getting even closer....it was --tls 1

It seams I am not allowed to mine in there or something...see image below:

Why you change the pool? Before was 2miners now you put another... that pool can go without another config....  Huh

I was trying in parallel two pools to understand the issue. I was getting the same errors from both till the --tls 1 flag. Now I am finally mining beam with 2miners!!!

Compared to Ethash the power at the wall is lower. It looks less demanding. I am not sure about the performances either. Is it OK to get around 17 sol/s from RX570 cards?

Also for info. I confirm the miner itself doesn't have issues anymore. I can mine ETH without issues. It is good too. It is even better than phoenix eheheh.

I think it's just a matter of setup to mine BEAM. For some reasons it connects to the pool but disconnect immediately after. See post above.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.16: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: December 13, 2020, 11:18:33 AM
Ah...also consider that even if I manually edit the minercmd file after the minerstarts it is constantly uddating that file. So it's useless.

The main question here is: who is writing that file? How can I avoid to have that "-profile=ETHOS" inserted in the string?

Ticket open in ETHOS:
https://github.com/cynixx3/third-party-miner-installer-for-ethos/issues/71

As I told, you can wait or running manually until they made the update.  Also there explains how to install custom miners.

Enjoy mining

OK I have removed and re-installed lolminer and now it is generating the right string. The problem now is that it is connecting to the pool but disconnecting immediately after. I tried 2miners and leafpool. Same result. See the error below:

This is my json:

{
    "DEFAULTS": {
        "DEVICES": "AMD",
        "APIPORT": 42066
    },
    "ETHOS": {
        "COIN": "BEAM",
        "POOLS": [
            {
                "POOL": "beam.2miners.com",
                "PORT": "5252",
                "USER": "MY_ADDRESS.733d0f",
                "PASS": "x",
                "TLS": "0"
            }
        ]
    }
}

Getting closer...

ssh into the rig

cd /opt/miners/lolminer
and should be the directory with the miner (if not do cd/opt/miners and the ls to see the miners)
the .json file is there for the config and you can edit the config file for it using nano.

you can run the command from jgonzi as it is just manually executing the miner.  You may have to do a disallow first to prevent ethos from trying to run it.

I tried without any good result. See the command sequence in the screenshot below:

as you can see there is no .json file in that folder. The .json file is placed here /var/run/ethos/lolminer_config.json. Inside there is only the lolminer.cfg. See screenshot below:

I think there is an issue with the miner for Ethos. It's like lolminer is generating the wrong command sequence. Basically ethos uses all its config files to generate the command string. It places the string inside this file: /tmp/minercmd

For example below you can see the string generated by phoenixminer. It works beautifully.

su - ethos -c "/usr/bin/screen -c /opt/ethos/etc/screenrc.phoenixminer -l -L -dmS phoenixminer /opt/miners/phoenixminer/PhoenixMiner   -proto 2  -amd -altinit -gser 0  -worker 733d0f  -log 0  -w$

When I select lolminer it generates the following string:

su - ethos -c "/usr/bin/screen -c /opt/ethos/etc/screenrc.lolminer -l -L -dmS lolminer /opt/miners/lolminer/lolMiner -profile=ETHOS -usercfg=/var/run/ethos/lolminer_config.json --coin BEAM "

Problem is that this string has the option "-profile=ETHOS" and when executed the miner interpretation is "-p rofile=ETHOS" and of course it doesn't find the pool...

So the main question here is: who is writing that file? How can I avoid to have that "-profile=ETHOS" inserted in the string?

About downloading lolminer and executing it like normal linux as suggested by jgonzi. I would like to keep my ethOS working as ethOS, otherwise maybe it's better to replace it with linux and bie bie ethOS.

Can you please put my parameters... and you will have it running for BEAM

You can also change the .cfg to put the information and add another - in front of the profile because it must --profile not -profile.

Sorry but just for my knowledge. Are you familiar with ethOS? Because that string IS NOT GENERATED BY MYSELF. Every time the miner starts it generates the string according to the Ethos configuration file.
that "-profile=ETHOS" is included in the string by lolMiner itself. It is not something I can edit from the ethos configuration files.

Even if we will find a way to modify it I should edit it every time I start the miner. I hope you understand this is not the solution.
