Try updating the drivers to Radeon Software 21.1.1 and see if that helps.   I've seen Windows updates that revert the drivers and break some things.   Running the Radeon Software software may even say you have the wrong driver version when that happens.

Its possible but I have the cards distributed over 2 power supplies. Total draw is 550w and the power supplies are rated at 1600w. So I've never been close to their limits. I'm really stuck!


You were right. Updates turned off but somehow Microsoft had performed an update which included driver updates for AMD and NVIDIA. I was lucky and a 'restore to previous point' process worked and I'm back up and running. Thanks for the help!

Its possible but I have the cards distributed over 2 power supplies. Total draw is 550w and the power supplies are rated at 1600w. So I've never been close to their limits. I'm really stuck!

Thanks for the reply.

I have a mixed GPU (AMD/NVIDIA) rig and the error log seems to show problems with both types of cards. I can't see a reason why I would suddenly need to update the drivers for both...I could try it but before this I was mining for months with no problems so I'm reluctant to mess with the rig too much if there is a more obvious problem.

It's very simple: you have -coin etc on your command-line (or bat file), which forces the miner to mine ETC, and this logically leads to 100% incorrect shares when trying to mine ETH. For everybody else with 100% incorrect shares problem - check if the miner is reporting Mining ETC on instead of Mining ETH on. If this is the case, find and remove the -coin etc  parameter from your bat file, or config.txt file.

Thank you for your reply... yes removing that worked!

I remember a few months ago with a DAG change there was a post that said that adding that helped stability.

The PhoenixMiner readme says:

 -coin <coin> Ethash coin to use for devfee to avoid switching DAGs:
     auto: Try to determine from the pool address (default)
     eth: Ethereum

So, it seemed Ok to use. The strange thing is, I have been happily mining with this setting for 2 months and have been receiving eth (and not etc) from ether mine.

I have now changed the setting and I'm hashing and receiving shares.

I have noticed though that my NVIDIA cards GTX1070 8GB are getting lower hash rates. They are both the same and I'm getting 19.2 MH/S and 25.8 MH/S.
I have previously used the included ZOTAC software for overclocking. (was getting stable 29 MH/S before)

Do you have any ideas why the hash rate is lower?

I would much rather set all the overclocking within the .bat file but I really struggle as my system is multi GPU.

How would you change my .bat file...I previously had '0's against GPU1 and GPU4 which are my NVIDIA cards. I tried turning off the ZOTAC software and changing cclock and mclock but it made no difference. Just looking for some best practice.

Hi, this is exactly the issue I posted a day or so ago...but on my rig all shares are rejected...I don’t even get small amounts of uptime. It’s very frustrating as I had a super stable rig which would run for months. The log says proof of work invalid. I’ve sent the log files to phoenixminer earlier today so hopefully someone with more experience can resolve it.

My rig has sat idle for 36 hours now. I've tried multiple versions of PhoenixMiner / Claymore and nothing works. But, the miner is happy hashing and finding shares...just 100% rejected.
  We need more information in order find out what exactly is happening. As a general rule we can't do anything to help you unless we have the following information: Windows (or Linux) version, driver version, how many and what cards are in the rig, and a log file, that contains not only the last few lines but also the first several minutes after the miner is started, as there are a lot of technical clues there. To avoid privacy issues, you may PM us with this information (and/or scrub your wallet address by search-and-replace operation in any text editor).

   Our best guess is that Windows may have updated your drivers to 21.1.1, which aren't supported by any version of PhoenixMiner before the just released 5.5c. But this is based on hand waving, we just need more information in order to help. Please note that this goes to everyone that wants our help.

Some extra info... all my cards are 8GB, so I don't think this is a 4GB card issue.

It seems as time goes on, more and more miners are getting this issue and it does not seem to resolve by changing pool.

As I had my rig running the most sable it has ever been (moved from claymore), I'm reluctant to change drivers/bios etc. as it seems a 'sudden' change has caused this... I just can't figure out what.

I Have the same issue 4x RX580's and 2x GTX1070s. ***all 8GB CARDS***
All perfectly stable for months then all of a sudden approx. 4pm UK time yesterday, nothing will work.  Angry Also went back and took a look if claymore worked...it did not.

Is this anything to do with the minor pools trying to go against the bigger ones?

I'm hoping someone with more experience can help on this forum.

Hi,

I've been mining successfully for about 2 month now - no reboots. PhoenixMiner has been working perfectly.

All of a sudden about 2 hours ago, I'm getting every share rejected.

I've tried switching to Nanopool but I get the same.

Any ideas?  Huh

I flashed the cards with a new BIOS and I now get 31.2 Mh/s on the RX580.
Thanks for the Steer on not using Straps!

Seems to be mining fine at the moment after I tweaked the clocks a little. One thing I did find though is that if PhoenixMiner hash rate on any card goes to 0Mh/s (due to too much overclocking), when it restarts, it can't seem to do anything with the card. It connects and 'sees' the card but it is ignored from the autotune and restarts at 0MH/s. The only way round I found was to reflash the card BIOS...very strange. Is that normal? Or is there some other way to tell PhoenixMiner to forget it had an issue with the card previously and to start from scratch again?

Very pleased that there's an alternative to Claymore and, it seems more stable (apart from the issue mentioned above).

AFAIK Phoenix miner currently does not support "straps" for RX580 (all polaris) cards, so you'll have to bios mod these cards manually (using 1 click bios mods or any other tools) and then try using the overdriventool settings and then you'll get similar hash rates on RX580s.

Hi,

I'm really struggling here.

Was using Claymore until this morning, when it died...and used the opportunity to swap over to PhoenixMiner.
Using the same settings hasn't been so simple.
My MH/s on my RX580's have dropped from a stable 32Mh/s@77W to 19Mh/s.

My setup:
2x RX580 + 2x GTX 1070
Windows 10
PhoenixMiner 5.3b
AMD driver 20.4.2 (with compute)
Stock GPU BIOS

I've tried everything to get an increased speed:

Re-install drivers
Using OverDriveNTool to alter AMD Card settings (this is what I used with Claymore)
Using PhoenixMiner to alter AMD Card Settings
read the readme and tried several options (-vmr, -gt etc.) - no improvement
tried autotune
played with the strap, rxboost etc...

I feel it is PhoenixMiner not applying the correct strap. It's probably a bit more complicated as I have the 2 NVIDIA cards there.
The NVIDIA cards are running about 1MH/s slower, but I can live with that for now.

On claymore my settings were:
-epsw x -eres 0 -strap POL8H1,POL8H3,POL8H1,POL8H3,1,1 -rxboost 21 -sintensity 75 -mode 1 -mport 0 -tstop 75 -tt 60 -fanmin 20 -fanmax 85 -wd 1 -r 0 -ftime 5

On PhoenixMiner they are:
-coin etc -straps 1 -vmr 33 -tstop 75 -tt 60 -fanmin 20 -fanmax 85 -wdog 1 -rmode 1 -acm  - Getting 19.5 Mh/s

I also tried this: (setting a '0' for my NVIDIA cards so not to alter their mclock etc.)
