1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: March 25, 2014, 02:23:17 PM
This is what appears now when you try to load their website:

We are currently changing servers and we request that all customers flush their cache, and clear their bookmarks for the new PBMining site.
Failure to do this may give you errors or prevent you from accessing some portions of the website.
Part of the transition is adding SSL Certificates and therefore, you may be prompted to accept a Certificate while the transition is in progress.

You can access the new site by clicking here: pbmining.com new site

You are currently seeing this page because the DNS propagation has not completed yet. Once it does, the pbmining.com website and URL will be displayed properly again.

I see this:
You attempted to reach pbmining.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as ssl6574.cloudflare.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of pbmining.com.

do your advertisers pay per click? every time i click ANYWHERE - even in the text boxes - a popup appears...

unfortunately 10 popups pays 0,01$=1738 Satoshi

ok - but i havent been back to your site since then because it's too annoying. So actually you get $0.00 from me, whereas you might get something on an ongoing basis if the ads weren't so obtrusive. Are you after one-off visits, or regular visitors?

why would someone want to buy obviously "stolen" goods (i.e. the coins on offer at up to 50% markdown)?

I used a piece of software called Armory to create my paper wallet. It was pretty simple. Here are the instructions https://bitcoinarmory.com/about/using-our-wallet/

Hope that helps,
MidasMarni

+1 - i used armory too, it was super simple.

it's also quite hard to find what i want. look at fiverr or etsy like that to see how they do content curation.

From the other responses we have been receiving, it's actually quite easy to find stuff!

what i mean is - if i click "browse", it's not obvious that i then have to click a category. and when i click a category, it then disappears. so i have to click "back" to browse another one. basically, i have to think too hard (http://www.sensible.com/dmmt.html).

Some people prefer broad listings like this, others prefer a "grid" view. Certainly, when scanning lots and lots of content, a grid view is more efficient. So when you have lots of stuff, remember that much of it will be junk (to me) or not relevant (to me), so i want to be able to quickly skip over the ones i don't want. that's why etsy etc. use a compact grid view.

good luck! i'll keep an eye on the site to see how it progresses.

i used the calculator at VNBitcoin (http://www.vnbitcoin.org/bitcoincalculator.php). It shows that, based on the current price of 0.0083BTC/GH if the BTC rate/USD stays at $623/BTC, and difficulty increases by 16.5% each time, it'll take about 9 months to break even. If BTC goes up to, say, $800/BTC you'll break even after 4 months. the difficulty increases at, say, 20% (with BTC at $623), it'll take more than a year.

so - you're basically gambling that:
- BTC rate will go up, or
- difficulty rate will not go up significantly.

you may well be better just buying coins.

Yes, paper wallets are safer, if created securely, but there are other ways. Make sure your wallet.dat is password protected and backed up and just don't worry about it. I can't say for sure, but if your address still has coins at it, chances are you're not already infected with a virus...

Put a strong password on the wallet (e.g. 25 random characters, use something like this: http://strongpasswordgenerator.com/) and pritn it out twice on pieces of paper. Then email yourself the wallet, and also put it on a USB. Give the USB and one copy of the password to a friend or relative who you trust.

also, you could look at e.g. https://bitcoinarmory.com/about/using-our-wallet/

Wait until bitcoin hits your sell value. Then restore your wallet when you want to cash in.

faucets were my first intro, because it's easy and risk free - but after i realised that i was getting like one 10,000th of a cent at each site, and that my hourly "earnings" were like $0.02/hr, i just bought some coins. not worth being late to work to do it.
