Hello, anyone knows how can I change my devfee pool in phoenixminer? it automatically chooses an SSL port with a 5555 port number which my internet cannot connect to! (I don't know why)in that case, phoenixminer changes the pool to a none SSL port after a minute but it causes me a lot of stale shares. I always have this issue ,is there any way to define a devfee address for the miner?

Hello Dev,

I started mining a month ago and used PhoenixMiner most of the time.

Every 2 or so days all my cards start getting about 30% invalid shares on my 12x 3070 rig on HiveOS. At first I thought I had an issue on the rig, maybe the mobo since it was all cards at once. But everything seemed normal and even cards at 39c had the issue. Restarting the miner always solved it.

A few weeks later I made a 2 new rigs on a different city, 3000km away (2x 12x 3070). The issue happened again, on all 3 rigs at once. This ruled out local issues.

I changed one of the rigs to a different miner just to troubleshoot if it was an issue with PhoenixMiner, and apparently is. The two rigs on PhoenixMiner exhibited the same issue a couple times, while the rig on the other miner didn't.

I searched a bit and found a post on reddit with someone with the same issue, he didn't name PhoenixMiner but said many miners are experiencing the same issue on 3060 and 3070: https://www.reddit.com/r/EtherMining/comments/lz7a3f/best_mining_software_and_how_to_choose_it/gq0s4my/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Apparently it has something to do with epoch changes, I researched a bit and an epoch change occurs in eth between 8 and 48 hours, which is in line of the issue happening every few days. If a new DAG needs to be generated, the issue is likely the same when we start the miner with overclocking and get tons of invalid shares. That's why HiveOS have a config option to overclock only X seconds after miner start.

If I correctly diagnosed the issue, the solution will likely be to either restart the miner on a new epoch or send some message to HiveOS to bring the cards to default settings during epoch changes, or some other software change that makes the cards be in a stable state when loading DAGs while overclocked.

I will happily change back to PhoenixMiner when there is a solution for this issue, keep up the great work!

Thanks!
I have 6*5700xts on my rig and this sometimes happens to me also but not too much. thanks for the description. hope the phoenix team solves this issue soon.

hi. sometimes (usually after 5 or 6 days of mining with phoenixminer 5.5c) the reported hashrate goes up suddenly by 3 or 2 and the worker crashes with this error of Whatman software 20.11.2: an unknown error happened and the default values are restored for 8 GPUs(5700xt).does anybody has the same issue?

hi. could anybody help me with this issue: Are the lower gt values for faster performance? I have 6 5700xt from the same company but each time I run phoenix miner it initializes them with different gt values from 23 to 59.iwana know which is better and faster for my cards 23 or 59? I should point out that in phoenix miner 5.1c I had experienced gt numbers from 6 to 10 but in the last version, I had the numbers 23 to 59!

GT value is not one way, going higher or lower from the optimum value will decrease the hash rate and may cause instability. Leave it on auto tune as recommended.
but why does it allocate different numbers to the same GPUs with the same hardware (risers, cables, and PSU)? I know with epoch changing the gt value may change each time but for the same GPUs, it should be the same! here comes my question that which gt value is better for my cards? should they really be different that much for the same GPUs(a number from 23 to 59 is a huge range I think)?

hi. I've recently had an issue with my phoenixminer 5.1c. I have 6x 5700XT with  20.3.1 driver and having no crash in the asia1 ethermine pool. my cousin lives near me with the same mining rig and the same pool. my rig was hashing very well until the last few weeks my stales are rising up and my average is going down as I have  50 to 30% stale shares now! while my cousin (with the same net and the same pool and driver) has not!He has under 5% stale share with the same phoenixminer 5.1c . what's wrong?

Hi. I have RX5700xt GPUs.Is "-eres 0" better for avoiding crashes in phoenix miner? Or higher numbers like 2(default) is better for reducing crashes?

If you expect crashes when switching epochs, give the -lidag <n> option a try and choose slowest, use together with -gser 2

my 5700 didnt crash so far
thanks. I've already tried -lidag 1 and had better stability I will also try -gser 2 with it. but won't it decrease the mining speed?
