guys don't forget to spread the hash. at hashrapid it's always close to, often over 50%

Great visions! I absolutely agree with emc2. The scientific attitude should be pushed as much as possible and is in my opinion the most important if not the only point of this coin *thumbs up

edit: the "emc2 accepted here" signs can not be bad for the currency though. Even if nobody pays with it, it's good marketing to have a shop offering it as payment method. Makes it look trustworthy

edit2: I will start working on poster layout for universities on the weekend and try to put in the above ideas. Universities are the perfect place: a social reach of several thousands per poster and even the professors/researchers will get an idea of it.

I don't think pump and dumps will ever fully by stopped.  It happens with gold, real physical gold. The only way to "avoid" it is to not play their game.  Don't listen to the shouts that it is dying, that it is a rocket ship, that it is going to rise a million bucks overnight, or that you are going to be bag holding.  Just get what you can.  Use what you can afford.  Support it however you want. Emc2 is solid. If cryptos are successful in the future, guess what? You just did yourself a favor because you are already in the game. Success is not having to convert to fiat.  It just means you can pay your bills, buy your food, and live your life with it.

If I had only thought so back when I started trading btc  Cheesy

The reasonable way to rise more funds for the fundation, without rising the mining percentage, would be to set up an official EMC2 mining pool with fixed fee. If miners would like to donate more, they could mine at this pool and moreover if someone would feel more generous, he/she would be able to set laso a donation from mining in addition to the fee. I think it's the simplest way.

Sounds good to me but miners at that pool would always feel like getting less coins per hash/s than miners at conventional pools (they WOULD actually get less). If it would be a fixed higher percentage for everyone it wouldn't really make you feel like getting less of the cake. Aurora is 50% premined. Thats huge and still accepted by the miners. Even though nobody really needs a country specific coin at all in my opinion.

Lets assume the emc2 is 1000 times as much as right now as we get to epoch 17, so according to coinmarketcap.com it would be 1.7 $. Lets do some simple math with it:
32 coins per block
36k blocks per epoch

that makes 39168 $ per 25 days for the foundation. If that's enough or not I can't decide  Grin

I was wondering about something else. I think there is no real connection between the user and the foundation. Of course there is one in the end because the number of users makes the price of the coin but it's not very visible. Not sure the following is even possible from the programming site but why not take some small amount from every transaction like 0.1 or 0.01%? It would not only make the users feel more like contributing as well but also make the big pump and dumpers think twice about their acting.
Another thing is the 2%. Why not more than 2% of the mined coins? Like 5 or even 10%. I don't think it would really affect the miners in the end since the value of the coin would go up. It would be much more help for projects and really underline the coins attitude. And if the value is too high at some point for only one project one could split these 5 or 10% to fund more than one project at a time.

@Einsteinium
will send you pm later

ps.: almost at 100 pages in this thread  Smiley

edit: not sure the big pump and dumpers are a valid argument actually

Hi guys,

I've been mining this coin for about a week now and find the whole idea behind it very promising. I've been dealing with BTC for quite some time now (about 1,5 years I'd say) but never mined or had the feeling to really join the community up to this point. So you really got me with this  Smiley

First of all thank you to all the devs for the great work you are doing here. Keep it comming!

Next I'd like to share some thoughts about marketing. Every time I start talking about BTC or cryptos in general 90 % of the people haven't even heard of it (and I'm studying at a university which has it's focus on life sciences - informatics/biotech/engineering). The other 10 % pretty much only know the bad press. I only know two!!! people who really know whats going on. One of them only because I didn't stop bothering him with the topic. Last night I also made the experience that things posted on Facebook only catch attention when people already know what kind of info they will get. Not even my girlfriend opened the link to Thunderclap. Digital currency and a foundation? No offense but who is gonna click and read that? It's a bit like those people downtown trying to get you to sign some paper to rescue whales, penguins...etc. Very most people just pass by without even looking at them and only some few old ladies and shy people don't dare to say no and give their signature in the end. On the internet it's even easier to not even look at it. You don't even have to say no. I guess you know what I mean.
So how can we get lots of peoples attention in a more trustworthy environment than facebook or the internet in general? I think a good start would be to hang out flyers/posters at public places like universities. I could for instance start doing that in Hamburg/Germany. It's cheap and reaches lots of rather interested people. A short but meaningful text, a link to the homepage/facebook and maybe even a giveaway of small amounts of coins to people who register. Maybe it's also smart not to even mention BTC. Most of the people don't know them and the ones who know them associate rather dark/bad things with them. Such text should be really well thought about and discussed. It has to catch the attention of interested but absolutely clueless people. We could use eyecatching stuff in headlines like the recent proof of the big bang. Everybody loves topics like this at universities.

Another thing would be stickers without any explanation at all. Just something like "Einsteinium, the scientific currency. Google it!" would catch at least my attention. People are bored with their smart phones while waiting at the subway or bus or whatever and they would welcome such an opportunity to kill some time.

What do you think? I'd like to discuss the ideas, maybe get some nice words together and then spread them whereever we can. Everybody has some high school or university around with a black board (thats how we call it in Germany^^) that can be used for free for pretty much anything. And what's on this black boards has (thats at least what I believe) much more value than any post on facebook.
I apologize if somebody already came up with this. I didn't read the complete thread  Tongue
