1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: February 24, 2015, 05:46:23 PM
I just noticed bter is back up (I dont have any funds on there) is everyone's balance showing up?

https://twitter.com/btercom

"We are preparing for the withdrawals. CNY, USD and NXT withdrawals will be handled first."

looks like they are not trying to screw people...

BTC is showing up, none of my altcoin balances are available yet. Looks like they actually will be coming back though just based on BTC being there.

yes this makes a bit nervous also. In Nxt, it usually turned out that some mistake had been made, but it is something that needs to be considered.

was/is there a leak in the webwallet landing page? usually, if such a thing occurs, thieves grab as much as they can, and we would have seen more of it.

*shrug* My account and none of the other ones I saw robbed the same day were used recently (it had been over a month for me, I don't remember the others exactly), maybe they want to be able to get small amounts of money for awhile or maybe there was something all of us just happened to do wrong? No idea what it is.

I never had problems with webwallet.
Spyware in your machine or FUD?

My machine is secure, and there were at least a few thefts at the same time.  I'm just looking to have whatever the problem was acknowledged and fixed (or in the off chance it was something that I did, I'd like to know what it was).

Well he has yet to show proof so who knows.  A lot of people have been trying to FUD node for a while now.

What proof can I show besides the blockchain?  Honestly I'd like the problem acknowledged, fixed, and to have my node returned. I know that last bit is some pretty wishful thinking, but I don't think it's too much to ask for the issue to be acknowledged.

How many coins are in existence right now? And what was the last price?

I haven't been following everything too closely, but assuming slimcoin.club is correct (and I think it is), there are 2151115 SLM total. You can see it by going to slimcoin.club then clicking brainwallet, and just typing any random string in key generation.

sorry, I have no idea what the last price was.

what was that with the node allegedly getting stolen or disappearing from some accounts?

anybody figured out what the security breach may be / have been?

No one has told me anything anyway. I know it was minor for me, but it does look like at least a few hundred bucks worth were stolen and sent to one wallet and there's no reason to assume the thief only was receiving on one account.  I was planning on buying more, but that this is completely ignored on a coin with the whole platform based on being a payment system doesn't inspire confidence to me.

To my knowledge no one has complained about something like this.
So what is there to say?

I'm no one?  I even tracked down the block chain to show there were several transactions all going to the same wallet around the same time I was robbed to see if it was just me (and therefore likely on my end) and it wasn't

Very interesting developments, thanks gjhiggins!

Now if we decide to hard fork: It's true what rfcdejong says, it could weaken the network. It would be nice to have some kind of "census" of active slimcoin users, or even better, to have an own forum to coordinate the protocol switch. Well, at least we have a reddit, it's pretty inactive but could be used for these cases: http://www.reddit.com/r/slimcoin/ I've seen at least some recent post have been made ... things are getting better.

I am a bit delayed with my little "PoB report" project but expect to launch it next week. Will announce it here and at Reddit.

A forum would be good but I bet most people would look here first for any important updates.

Yeah, despite my pessimism sometimes, I still run the client and watch this thread. I'll bet I'm not the only one. Couldn't hurt to post on reddit, but please at least cross-post anything important here.

Someone stole all my node with a reasonably secure password on a computer with good antivirus software that scans daily. None of my other accounts were compromised (most of which were worth significantly more than my node wallet) so I doubt the issue was from my end.

Only had about 10 USD worth of node at current prices, but still pretty upsetting that it got stolen. Posting here so other people can watch out in case it isn't an isolated incident.  Wallet it got sent to is 8484251769134092323

and I was definitely not the only one, and some people lost significantly more.  Here's the transactions for this wallet, but there could be other ones. http://nodemoney.com:19775/#/explorer/transaction/8484251769134092323

Did you ever sign in from the online wallet?

Not into my actual wallet

So, I feel like I'm broaching something a little taboo, but I have to ask.  It seems like no one really knows how slimcoin works, but every now and then someone buys a few hundred bucks worth of it. Why?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: January 26, 2015, 12:20:48 AM
Not sure if staking just doesn't work on a large scale or if something else solved the problem, but I've continued to stake and haven't had any stability issues.

New GPU miner looks interesting.

Has the network calmed down or are there still multiple forks? I still have 200 SLM in my client, will that be enough to PoB mine? I don't think I've ever created a block, either through CPU dcrypt PoW mining, or PoB. I was running the client for more than a month before I gave up.

Coin appears to be mostly worthless and developerless again, but with 200 slm burned you'd average a block every 11 days or so.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NODE: "Money is a means of payment, not speculation" (с) Happy New Year! ) on: January 02, 2015, 06:23:56 PM
I agree with the fact that losing connection should not make a node lose their points. For example i cannot be 24h with node running but i can open it everyday let's say 12-15 hours. And i wont if i know that is gonna be useless because with those hours i wont be able to forge because of obvious reasons.

If it cut points significantly (say, reduced to the cube root or something) on each forge then it wouldn't be much of an issue since people on for very long would regularly be having their points reduced too. Just looking at the last couple pages though it doesn't sound like that's what's happening.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pebblecoin (XPB) Launched - cryptonote coin on: January 01, 2015, 05:15:49 AM
Boulderhash is a new mining algorithm requiring 13 GB RAM, nearly eliminating all possible zombie (botnet controlled) computers from mining.

Refreshing idea, but I'm pretty sure most people who have 16 GB or more memory, they actually need it and use it. I for one won't be holding 13 GB of RAM hostage for a coin.

+1

Looks interesting, downloading the blockchain now. I'm up to 825, how high does it go?  I hate leaving currency in exchanges :\

any password (is http, not https)
good luck!

cool, thanks Smiley  basically an online wallet?

You can use the online wallet for safe access to the account, transactions and transfers, but if You want to forging money then You need to download the client 'cause in this case You support the network and the system rewards you for it. This is the essence of PoA.

Thanks for taking the time to PM me all that info- after losing a pretty big chunk of money on slimcoin it's nice to see a new coin with a committed and articulate developer.

understood. Maybe I'll just leave em in bter until the blockchain finishes. Over half way there already anyway.  thanks again

Correct me if I'm wrong. Well too bad I'm still keeping all my SLM.

Heh, could be. Keepn mine too. I was considering using some spare btc I have to buy more just for the hell of it, but I don't know why.

Darkcoin Promo Video

watch in HD!

-onetime

enjoyed your video, very informative.

Exelent!
One big thing is missing : The Darkcoin foundation.
The video should mentioned it, it's good to know that an oficial organism like the foundation exist and it's aim is to protect darkcoin interst.

You mean organization? I'd be both intrigued and terrified by a DRK organism...
