1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 11, 2014, 03:40:36 AM
Speaking of power supplies, been looking around at some for my rig when it comes. One thing I noticed is that many 1500w supplies have 2 different ratings depending on the voltage feeding it. Especially server PSU's.

As in rated 1500w only with 180-240vac feeding it, 950w with 100-129vac in. Just sayin' - pay attention to that possibility and double check the specs.

All of my power supplies are now Enermax Platimax or Enermax MaxRevo's.  I got tired of waking up in the morning and seeing that a power supply failed and my miner didn't mine all night.  Learn from me. Just get quality power supplies from the start.

The 1.2T miners that AMT sells come with 1500W power supplies. It's pretty much common sense. Like I said, a 20amp dedicated circuit will do fine.

Now, if you plug and air conditioner, a hair dryer and plasma TV and sump pumps on that same 20amp circuit, you will overload it since a 20a would take up to 2000W for sure. I Thought that was obvious, but I will state it here so you know.

1 1.2T miner draws about 10 amps.   You should only put 1 miner per 20 am circuit.

if you are want to run multiple per circuit you should run 208 30 amp.   You could run 3 miners.     ** Check with you electrician.

30 Amp circuit will not work because of the plug.  Most plugs (wall sockets) are 15 Amps and the ones with the little 90 degree T on one side are 20 Amps.

So the best way to do it is like this:

(1) 20 AMP Breaker, (1) 20 Amp Plug (wall socket) per machine.  Each AMT will draw 10 to 12 AMPs.  That is to say, you will only be using 12 Amps of a 20 Amp circuit/plug.  This way you never have to worry about blowing circuits etc. You're electrical is now bulletproof.  Building it right from the start will save you time and headaches in the future.

****No I'm not an electrician Kiss

Did anybody get a tracking number for their DIY Kit yet?  Hoping to get mine soon.

Hmmm, Well I found the overclocking settings.

Heh.. I wouldn't try without making sure you got more headroom on your PSU.  I'm thinking a 2KW server power supply. Smiley
and make sure you got plenty of cool ambient air going in.. cause it's going to be toasty coming out..

Looks like they are running them at 196.

Can you take a screen shot of what it looks like?  That is to say is there a higher option setting that you can just remove the ###?

But still need to see any review before ordering...

Its coming, be patient Tongue Got a 24MP camera and lighting for some better photos, more power test equipment, heat gun and fan tachometer. I really want an IR camera but will have to save up the pennies for that.

Yayyyy, so I asume you in 1st batch and got PSU 1200++ for overclocking (and some undervolt maybe) Cheesy
Cant wait !!!
I'm not sure where I placed, could be end of B1 or start of B2. 1500W PSU ready to check the headroom and overclocking out. Will do soft underclocking, won't touch voltages until we know more.

I was thinking 1500W PSU also.  If Bitmain is using the same chip and their claim of 1000W at the wall is correct, this machine may have some room to run.  I don't suggest leaving the cover on though.

2x 30a, 120v - $1075/month. Full cabinet.

so about 6kW + space? thats pretty reasonable, a lot of places i looked wanted about $1100-$1300.  I ended up building my own space with rack shelving that has up to 18kW available (0.15/kwh) and rent is $300/month

How much of the kW are you using and what are you using for cooling.  I'm running 26 S1's overclocked right now and found out the hard way on what it takes to keep them cool.  I plan on getting a few s2 whenever Batch 3 opens up but would never place more than 5 evenly spaced in a cabinet. I would worry about 10 x 1kw machines on top of one another.
