1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: March 17, 2018, 09:32:33 PM
I've started a pool located in Perth Western Australia.

The URL is xmr.pictureslots.net.au with the usual ports, 3333, 5555, and 7777.

If has been tested for a few days using only a CPU miner and has found 0 blocks (only to be expected). I have no idea if it will pay miners but would appreciate someone trying it out to see if payments get made once a block is found.

It is currently a 0% fee and will stay that way until I'm certain blocks are found.

The previous pool I ran payed out ok and I'm assuming this one will but wont know until it actually does.

If anyone is keen to throw some hashing power into it so I can find out, please do.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] DarkNote. Anonymous 100% PoW CPU+Untraceable Crypto Messages+GUI Client! on: May 01, 2015, 08:54:13 AM
Hello dear XDN users,
Today we found that CryptoNote developers introduced Reference GUI for all CryptoNote coins
 https://forum.cryptonote.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=609

So our team decided to switch XDN GUI wallet development on CryptoNote based QT.

Our beta XDN client is using wxWidgets to produce nice GUI, as Bitcoin itself had a wxWidgets based GUI at the very beginning, after they switched to QT, so we do.

We will integrate XDN messaging, mining and other XDN fetures on the top of CN QT GUI.

We expect this to happen on XDN 1 year birthday.

You will  have a familiar Bitcoin alike QT for your XDN.

P.S. The signs of the new era of cryptos is everywhere, you should just observe it and understand it. Stay tuned.

I have to ask a stupid question.

How does XDN distinguish itself from others if for a novice it looks the same as the others? Uniqueness can be a positive I think. Following others rather than leading might work some of the time but standing out in the crowd can lead to greatness.

This is not a criticism because you guys are obviously more deeply involved than I am and have knowledge I lack. It is simply a comment.

Due to the updates and GUI tuning, you can expect some XDN GUI client connections problems, sorry for inconvenience.

Is there some way the darknote website can mention current gui version so people like me don't download exactly what we already have? Or will the gui auto check for updates?

Craig

You should understand that ALL GUI versions that we are introducing now is early pre beta (alpha) state and for testing purposes only, that is why versioning now is not important for us, sorry for inconvenience.

We are still on main distribution phase, when next BIG event will occur, we will introduce the working beta version of XDN GUI, until that time all of users and early adopters are testers Smiley

And we believe all early adopters and testers will have their reward from XDN success.

Stay tuned, thank you for all your notices, much appreciate this and will try to do our best to solve all small current issues, but we are focused on BIG event.

Thanks for you reply. Beta, brilliant. That means I can make suggestions without feeling like a dummy.

I wasn't aware it was Beta as I don't think it's mentioned on the site, if it is I missed that bit. I've been using it without any trouble. No errors, the world didn't end and the sun keeps coming up each day.

I'd like to offer a couple of suggestions if that isn't to forward of me.

anyone else having issues connecting to darkNoted?

I'm launching wallet but there is no connection Sad

lil help?

I don't know about you but I was confused at first. Loaded the gui and it said "Connected" but nothing was happening. Expected syncing or similar. I didn't know I had to generate an address first. As soon as I did the sync process started.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else is as thick as I am. Smiley

This pool not paid http://dsh.cryptonight.net/#

I CPU Mine on my little laptop for a bit of fun and can only dream about numbers you're showing in your screen capture!

I've been mining for a day or two at minergate.com because they've got a cool mining app which is dead simple, they pay right away after you send yourself your coins.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DSH] Dashcoin (Cryptonote, automated source) on: April 17, 2015, 10:58:21 PM
I've been playing with both the command-line and GUI version for Dashcoin and they both work fine, with a minor annoyance - they store wallets in different locations!

Despite both dashcoind, simplewallet, and dashcoinwallet (gui) being in the same folder the gui stores the wallet in a folder called "wallets" whereas the command-line tool wants a wallet in the same folder as the executable.

It isn't a huge problem because most would either use the command-line or the gui but not both. I switch from time to time.

Another minor issue is that the gui starts its own dashcoind rather than talking to the one already running.

As I said, none of these are major problems for me but worth mentioning if someone is still developing the gui.

Bugger! It just doesn't work for me.

If I run the GUI Wallet it syncs with the network ok. But sending coins to it does nothing. If I run the dashcoind it re-syncs again. If I go back to the GUI it starts syncing again.

I'm going round in circles here. Should both the dashcoind and gui be accessing the same wallet or are they just two different things created to increase my level of confusion.

Craig

What version are you using?

Apologies, it is working after all.

Oddly enough both the GUI and the daemon said they were synced with the network when they were actually 42 days behind. Daemon said 42 days, gui said it was up to date.

Thanks for your replies, but it is all working now.

I'm confused. Are [DASH] and [DSH] different?

I should also point out that I'm easily confused! Smiley

I am right in the middle of exams, that is why I created the transition version. It will be a full relaunch with new website etc but I need to focus on one thing at a time now.

I have less than a week left anyway and then I will be free to work on the new version, it won't take long.

captainproton, if you have any ideas for a popular new algorithm let me know.

Good luck with your exams.

I have no clue about algorithms. I aint that clever I'm afraid. Smiley

I do only CPU Mining and my miner doesn't support X11 so I'm out.

I've had three machines mining for the last few days using Scrypt and didn't notice they weren't doing anything. I'd consider changing my miner but it is integrated into an app I wrote which switches from one coin to another every couple of hours so it's hard for my users to all change over.

I will look at the X11 option another time, but for the moment I've transferred my coins to the Web Wallet and will see what happens in the future.

I wish you all luck and hope it goes off big for you all.

I've given up on dutchpool.org, I've had trouble before when after mining for a week I didn't receive a single coin. I noticed today the site has change to NOMP so I thought I'd try again (fckbanks this time) and after a couple of hours nothing appears. When I mine other pools the coins appear almost right away.

Something isn't right there, I've given it two chances and each time I don't get a single coin. If I now switch back to my original pool I'll have a million coins by the end of the day, and they come in every few minutes in blocks of about 2500 at a time.

The Reindexing worked for me, all updated and current. I was very happy, until I got home onto my crappy wireless internet and loaded the wallet - 43 weeks behind again - being the knobhead I am I forgot to remove reindex=1 from the config.

I've given myself an uppercut and will have to resync AGAIN!  Grin

Thanks guys, it's reindexing now. 43 weeks behind so it should be right by Christmas.  Shocked

Thanks again for your help.

Hmm, how bizarre! It's still stuck on the same block.

Is there a way to reset the blockchain or whatever the hell it is without affecting my wallet. I'm happy to redownload entire chain.

I have a problem, which I hope is a problem with me alone!

I've updated my wallet and it will not sync, it seems to be stuck on 449565. It's been like that for 2 hours. I've restarted, updated config, and everything I can think of?

Was there something I missed in the update instructions, did I need to do anything else like drink more beer?

Am I to understand the coin was effectively taken down by a single pool? Does this highlight a potential problem in the future for this and various other coin types?

I thought a fork was planned, that was a few weeks ago. I continue to mine, but not sure if it's worth the trouble.

Any soothing words from someone on the development side and perhaps a timetable might be worthwhile.
