Awesome! First scammed via paypal, now moneybookers :S My moneybookers account was closed (cannot get a clear explanation from them, they are being cryptic) and all transactions reversed.

Are you logged in as a different user with ssh as you are in X? If not, you need to be using the same user for both.
I made sure I am logged in as the same user both in Gnome and SSH. I ended up just giving up on Debian for now and installing Ubuntu 11.04 and ATI Proprietary driver instead, and I am having no issues

Okay I finally got two 6990 vid cards working in both Debian Wheezy and Ubuntu 11.04. Instead of installing the packaged fglrx drivers for each distro, I downloaded the latest drivers from AMD website and installed that instead, no issues so far, system does not lockup at bootup anymore.

ran echo $DISPLAY from an xterm, and found that its actually :0.0. however the command via SSH still yields the same export DISPLAY=:0.0; aticonfig --odgt --adapter=all

Yeah they are there. I decided to try Debian Wheezy, and I am experiencing similar lock ups. What I have tried next is uninstalled the Debian packaged fglrx driver, and downloaded the latest ATI proprietary driver and installed that instead, and this appears to have fixed the problem However I now have another problem When SSHing to the machine and trying to run commands like: export DISPLAY=:0; aticonfig --odgt --adapter=all No protocol specified aticonfig: This program must be run as root when no X server is active I have made sure that I am logged into Gnome. Also running the same command via an Xterminal works fine.

Has anyone got Dual 6990 video cards working with Ubuntu 11.04. I followed this guide, and a single 6990 works perfectly. However as soon as I put in the second card, Ubuntu fails to boot, and locks up with a black screen, cannot even SSH to the machine, or bring up any TTY terminals. I enter recover mode, delete the xorg.conf file, reboot with the dual 6990 still in place; X boots into failsafe mode. I than run the command "sudo aticonfig --initial -f --adapter=all", and reboot the machine. Than it locks up again with a black screen. Similar posts about it here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=15908.0I experience similar problems with Debian Wheezy, however less fatal, as in only the screen locks up, however I can still SSH to the machine. I have also tried out LinuxCoin and found it to be the only distro with minimal effort to work with Dual 6990 video cards, however I would prefer to run something more Vanilla like Debian Wheezy or even Ubuntu11.04. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is no source config. It's been heavily customized by chrooting the filesystem and tweaking.
I knew it was a long shot, but was hoping you used one of those Custom LiveCD creation tools Anyway I guess I will have to just keep trying with this dual 6990 video card problem, I will probably just come back to LinuxCoin seeing as it works out of the box

Hi,
Is it possible to get hold of the source config for compiling the Linuxcoin liveCD there are a few things a would like to customize for myself.
So far LinuxCoin is the only distro that I have managed to get a Dual 6990 video cards working sucessfully, and I am interested to see what is different to say a install of Debian Wheezy or Ubuntu 11.04, for which I cannot not get dual 6900 video cards working.

Would be great if they did, however Newegg I assume has very tight margins, and the volitility of bitcoin at times could cause them to even loose money. I 'm just a newbie and still getting my head around bitcoin :O

Hi, I am experiencing similar behaviour with two ATI HD6990 network cards, tested in two different motherboards with the same result. The machine will begin to boot, than when it attempts to boot the gui, the machine simply locks up with nothing on the screen, and requires a hard power reset to reboot it. The machine is running Ubuntu 11.04 32bit mobo is Gigabyte Z68A-D3-B3, I also followed Inaba's Ubuntu 11.04 howto for 6xxx series video cards. I started the machine with gdm disabled so that I could boot it up, than ran a tail -f on all the important logs (syslog,dmesg,Xorg.0.log, Xorg.1.log). I than started gdm, and only syslog outputed something before the machine locked up. I have copied it to pastebin, link below. http://pastebin.com/qWHtPa9UWould appreciate if anyone could provide any sugestions on investigating this further.
