1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinCreator - Create your own altcoin (Scrypt with PREMINE added!) on: April 10, 2014, 11:46:46 PM
I can can confirm that CC is legitimate, and helpful if you approach him.

Look, it's 100 times better than Coingen, and it's better value, with none of that nasty branding and lack of source code and follow up.

CC did me a favour today, so I'm thanking him for it.

You also get instructions to host your own node for free, too.

GOOD GUY!

Ah, looks like SPACE INVADERS got it too much up the ass in one sitting, and is kinda stuck waiting for some big machines to vacuum the little invaders up.

Block 16383 appears to be somewhat of an impossible nut to crack.

I can only mine a premine anyway, but would like to see a kindly pool owner take pity on these fellas or surely they will die along with shite like COL and Memecoin.

GO >>>>>>> INVADERS >>>>>>>> GO

Yeah, it's the node, it will run out in about 10 days I think (it's from a vps)

It needs some more putting in for permanent connections.

I can't get any blocks at all  Grin

It got a good kicking by you. leduc. It needs to get on a pool or something soon otherwise it will die.  Cry

Net Hashrate and dificulty rising, block halving again soon.

get your SPIN before you regret it  Grin

Did you work out settings for the .conf?

I just had

What have you got there, mate?

Oh my God, 8000 blocks  Shocked

If the guy mining is looking in, send me a PM and I'll give you some info you might want to hear.

Hope this pays off for you!  Wink

I was gonna change the difficulty but I couldn't work out how to make the compiler work, and given it was just a test, I thought I'd throw in here to see if anyone fancied a go - funny to see the blocks just zoom past
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ******SPACE INVADERS easy, easy solo mine this now********** on: April 07, 2014, 08:03:52 PM
Quick, so quick ... I'm not sure how secure the client is, given it's a machine-made job

Hope if it blows, whoever has mined can patch it up

I had this coin made by coincreator.net just to test it out and see if the service would be worth using on a serious project.

Overall, it isn't a bad service. You get your own genesis block and he gives you a node for a connection. I think my node in the coin.conf file is good for another 2 weeks.

The conf file (which is called coin.conf) has a small configuaration in it containing:

rpcuser
rpcpassword
addnode
daemon

No other stuff, but I guess you can add whatever to it. At the moment it only has the 1 connection via the vp coincreator uses (see in conf file)

Mining it solo (so far) is simple, and I was able to do it on my work computer (usually it won't let you do anything like that ... maybe it's because I used a pen drive to load it and it did not try to mess with the roaming in appdata).

TO SYNCH I USED THE setgenerate true command in the console.

I premined about 1.25% (250 blocks). If anyone wants some free coins, download the wallet and leave details at the forum below, 1000 per application per day).

Here is the output from CC

Coin type Litecoin (Scrypt)
Halving 8888 blocks
Initial coins per block 8888 coins
Target spacing 1 min
Target timespan 88 h
Coinbase maturity 8 blocks
Max coinbase 157,993,088
P2P port 11045
RPC port 21045

Here is the download. Hopefully someone wants to have a go at this. If nothing else, it's worth getting some coins for free via me or with a quick solo mine (1 minute blocks)

PS: Any problems with synching, conf file, etc, don't ask me.

There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about Smiley

1. The Debug Log doesn't work (maybe this is because there is only one connection, from your node)?
You have to be more specific. I haven't encountered any such issues or got any feedback about the debug logging working incorrectly.

Quote from: agodobrev
When you click 'open debug log' file from the QT nothing happens. That's not the end of the world and you can open it from the dir.

2. The programme does not create a Roaming file, but loads everything in Winqt including coin.conf (can this be created, not using a coin.conf but a XXXXcoin.conf and placed in Roaming?)
The win executable searchs for default a config file named 'coin.conf' residing in the same folder as the executable itself. You're the first person 'complaining' about this so it is not likely we are going to change the default behaviour. However you can override the values with e.g. giving the launch parameters -conf and -datadir. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin#Bitcoin.conf_Configuration_File

Quote from: agodobrev
I'm not complaining, sorry if I gave that impression. You would have to be more specific with your instructions, I inow what conf and data dir are but not how to change them (that is why I came to your wonderful service)

3. The Winqt file looks like an ordinary Roaming file except it contains the qt-client.

But there are no files that I expected along with the qt, like:

libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll, libstdc++-6.dll, mingwm10.dll, QtCore4.dll, etc, etc (I just copied them from a Doge folder but you get the drift)
Hhhm.. why would you want the DLL files? There are (at least) two ways two build the windows executable: With the DLL files included/not included in the executable. Why would you want ~6 smaller files instead of 1 larger single file? To my understanding the offical Bitcoin QT release does not contain any DLL files but they are bound to the executable. (As is with coincreator) Let me know if you find a Windows environment in which our executable does not work without the DLL files.

Quote from: agodobrev
I don't want them, I expected them there ...if I ever market the coin I need the authentic look

4. there is no icon for qt file when in folder (on Windows 7 I get a black box on Vista just a space where the icon should be)
This could be a bug. Let me investigate further. When I recompiled a coin from sources the icon was there. But this was a manual compile.
Quote from: agodobrev
Yes, please see if you can find a fix

In general we try to be as transparent as possible. We have the Freecoin option so people not too familiar with cryptocurrencies can figure out what really comes with our service and what not.

Quote from: agodobrev
Like I said, it's a very good service, but I fear you think I am unhappy. Absolutely not. I'll try to better explain myself in future. Just consider that questions like these are made from a position of total ignorance, which is why things needs spelling out
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinCreator - Create your own altcoin (SCRYPT added!) on: March 30, 2014, 10:09:13 PM
I had a coin made by CoinCreator really to test out, and get an idea of what the code will be like, how good it will be, etc.

Firstly, it's not bad, and far better than the Coingen stuff that I have seen on their website.

Still there are niggles which I would ask CC to address, and let me know how to fix them.

1. The Debug Log doesn't work (maybe this is because there is only one connection, from your node)?

2. The programme does not create a Roaming file, but loads everything in Winqt including coin.conf (can this be created, not using a coin.conf but a XXXXcoin.conf and placed in Roaming?)

4. there is no icon for qt file when in folder (on Windows 7 I get a black box on Vista just a space where the icon should be)

I'm not even a beginner when it comes to coding or understanding what these files do.

Can CC explain the points above, and how I might address them?

NB: Trying to get a node for myself with the instructions given on the site didn't work. Probably my fault, but it did not like the litecoind command (or something like that).

Again, just to note the service is not bad at all, in fact it is quite good, and it seems to work. But if I want to eventually market a coin, it needs to be set up in the traditional way.

This is what I would like:

A qt in the downloads folder with the funny .dll files
A bunch offiles in AppData Roaming, and not with a conf file called coin.conf

How do I achieve that?
