2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any recommended guide to build a 6-rig GPU for a 1st time beginner? on: February 02, 2021, 12:52:09 PM
As title states.

There's so many of them, maybe the community could recommend the most simple/best one I should go by?

Thank you in advance!
If you can get graphic cards at msrp then it's good to go, right now graphic cards are way too over priced because crypto mining is Profitable again, you can just build limited rigs right now and wait for later to build others, I went with 6 GPUs days ago and it's up and running already

Yeah I definitely won't invest over 4-5k in a rig right now due to price fluctuations.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How do you find good low difficulty coins to mine? on: February 01, 2021, 10:47:28 AM

It's a very difficult thing these days dude, the majority of coins that are still available to be mined with GPU was the privacy coins but so many coins already moved to the POS system. It's also almost impossible to find the privacy coin that can go from the bottom to the top.
It's similar as betting into the garbage coin with the ration 80% chance to be the shitcoin and the rest to be the legit coins.
You should move from the mining to the POS coins.

I like the PoW system so much more... PoS just feels so much like a pyramid scheme. Sad

This is a really great miner, thank you!

It could be awesome if you could add the watt usage in the cmd, like this:

A question for you people with a GPU mining rig out there, how do you find low difficulty coins to mine which have potential to rise from $0.005 to $0.25 for example.

I don't want you to spoon feed me I just mean as in what do you analyze to determine what's a total scam or if the coin has future potential.

You forgot to say one small but high important information. What is your budget for that? Everything after depends on how much money you can spend to buy a mining hardware.
I suggest you check https://whattomine.com/ where you can compare different hardware and his profitability. then you will be able to calculate for yourself what equipment you can buy and what to expect from it.

I'd say I would be able to spend €4-6k on a starting rig

If I see I can make earnings, then I have a way to get a $0.04 kWh electricity plan and would be able to invest about another €16k.

Lower cost coins might become big later like you said OP but be careful with less difficulty coins, I used to have that mentality in the past that if I can mine some new coins and hold they might be big in future but I was wrong, all those coins turn into scam projects

Thanks for the info. I guess I will do many, many research before mining some newer lower-difficulty coins!

The 3090 is a poor mining card pick.

3060ti
3080
3070
3090

In that order assuming they are available now and priced correctly

Thanks for the info!

I assume it will be quite a hard time trying to find these cards, even locally  Smiley

This is pretty cool, thinking to use this OS for my first rig.

Does this provide better/same hashrate as Win10, but without all the Windows system adjustments you need to make?

The gtx1660 has 6gb, if you are building a mining rig for future proof its better to buy a 8gb video ram gpu, by 2024 those GPUs with 6gb will be obsolete to mine Ethereum, that is if Ethereum POW algorithm still works

Not everyone mines just ETH though

I like to mine lower-cost and difficulty coins sometimes early on, they might get big later and you got some stock on a wallet HODLing  Cheesy

I'm also planning to build a 6x gpu next week, I've already order some gpu but I have a hard time choosing between gtx1660 super and rx5500xt, they are both very good for mining but rx5500xt have a upper hand because it's 8gb supported, gtx1660 super has 6gb
Its possible to reach 30.04 mh/s at 70w with the gtx1660 super doing few tricks but you can't get 30mh on a rx5500xt, the only advantage that the AMD have over the Nvidia is less power/energy consumption and the 6gb memory which can last only 4years for mining Ethereum

Thanks for the tips. I also thought best was to buy GPU's that are worth 500-600EUR, then after I learn how to build them and experiment a bit, see if I like it I could start buying €1k+ gpus.

Don't worry yourself about future proof or not, it will take good four years for Ethereum Dag file to enter 6gb size and you would have make 3x of your ROI before that time arrives, its a good buy, also less electricity power consumption is a huge plus

Thanks!

Is it a decent idea to invest in cards like 3090, once I am 100% sure I want to expand my farm?

I wanted to make a starter 6gpu mining rig but have no idea what to look for when searching a GPU.

Would this for example be suitable?
