1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.9d: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: December 06, 2021, 12:26:57 PM
This morning two different users posted a 6.0 version of this miner.
I noticed both posts got deleted so I guess they were spammers.

Sadly I downloaed and launched that 6.0 version.

I didn't mine because I got an error saying there was a problem with my drivers, advising me to go back to the 5.5c version.

Now I deleted it but I'm worried I could have installed some kind of virus in my pc.

Does someone knows what was that supposed 6.0 version?

I know it's clearly a fake version, but what was supposed to do? Maybe just to mine for another wallet instead of mine?

I mostly need to know if my passwords and everything in my pc could be compromised, or if I'm fine by just deleting it.

By the way, windows didn't find any virus. That's weird considering that the official phoenixminer gets blocked by Chrome and by windows because they see it as a threat.

considering the amount of time and money used (as in bought/hacked accounts sometimes) posting these malicious versions i would take no chances and change all passwords and format/reinstall windows.

the fact windows AV didnt pickup anything just means it hasnt seen it before, it can still steal stuff, install keyloggers, rootkits etc.

i have dedicated mining rigs, so if one gets compromised there is nothing of value on it and i just reimage the disk back to a known good image. or just format/reinstall from scratch.

tldr do not trust that machine anymore.

I checked it with malwarebytes and it found a malware that it's supposed to mine for himself instead of me.

It didn't find any Spyware or anything else. Maybe these scammers are not that good at coding and they just released a version of the miner that will mine at their wallet and nothing else.

Anyway it's my gaming pc so I don't have any document on it, just games and mining.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to know the derivation paths used by hardware wallets? on: December 04, 2021, 01:19:37 PM
Thanks,

Starting from that website, I managed to discover that my wallets are using the derivation m/'44/'0/'0  for the legacy address.

Still not clear about the segwit though.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to know the derivation paths used by hardware wallets? on: December 04, 2021, 12:35:08 PM
Hi all,

I have 3 hardware wallets:
D'CENT
Ellipal
Safepal

I imported the same 24 word seed phrase in all of them.

I got the same legacy address from all of them, but the segwit addresses are different. It looks like they're using a different derivation path.

I tried to import the same seed phrase also in a old ledger nano s and in this case I got a different segwit address and even a different legacy address.

We're not talking about just a different address, we're talking about different wallets because I couldn't recover my balance in the different wallets, so they are clearly using a different derivation path.

For reference, with Ethereum I had no problem: the same address on all the hardware wallets.

In this situation I'm forced to use the legacy address, also, I'm afraid if all these 3 companies will go out of business, it will be hard to recover my btc if I don't know the derivation path the used and other wallets seem to no use the same.

Leggo sempre più notizie di questo tipo... secondo voi ethereum può davvero superare bitcoin? vorrei leggere qualche analisi che al contrario dice che bitcoin non verrà spodestato ma al momento sembrano tutti andare nell'altra direzione...

Hi all,

I started mining eth few weeks ago when I finally got a RX6800.

At the beginning I used TMR because almost everywhere I read it was the best for AMD, lately I tried Phoenix and I have to say it's definely better, I get 64mh/s while con TMR I got just 62.
I'm talking about the 24 hour average speed I get from ethermine, not only the one I get from the miner.

So this miner is faster and it has lower fees, what can I ask more?

I have 2 questions:
1) I found a website called Phoenixminer.org where I could download the miner. Is it legit? I downloaded it from github but I would like to know it for future reference
2) I read some bad news about nicehash accusing Phoenix to be a scam. How the situation ended? I guess if this thread is still open it means it was proved that Phoenix is trustworthy, but I would like to be sure.

I bought the L3+

After I'll receive it, I'll install the blissz firmware so the electricity usage should be even less than 800w
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: L3+ firmware blissz on: February 16, 2021, 10:05:44 PM
Ok thanks.  Have you upgraded any other miners, I upgraded my r4 and asked someone about set settings. He told I just have to adjust everything to my liking.

Send me in pm the link to download the blissz firmware so I'll try tomorrow
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: L3+ firmware blissz on: February 16, 2021, 08:54:49 PM
Hi, could you give me the link to download the firmware?

Probably you have right now the 2019 bitmain firmware that doesn't let unsigned firmware to install, you need to downgrade it. A friend told me tomorrow he'll send me a guide about that, I'll test it and share it with you (if it works)

Sorry guys, a guy offered me a S9i for the same price of the L3+.

I don't mind if I have to mine btc or ltc, which one is the best solution for the next future?

I would get about the same revenue, just a bit more with the S9i, but I think mining btc will become harder very soon, while mining ltc could be a bit easier.

As I said before, I would like to use this miner for at least 1 year.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is still profitable to buy an Antminer L3+ in 2021? on: February 16, 2021, 02:01:44 PM
Of course it will grow. And people will turn off their miners and complain about how they will never make ROI. However consider this: If you had bought an S9, and run it non-stop through the past couple of years through bitcoin crashes and peaks you still would probably have beaten the ROI numbers at 50k a coin.

I have not done the calculations for a Neptune or even a Titan (previous generation technologies) but I'm guessing even those may show a positive ROI over the years. An L3 is pretty recent technology so it might be worth it.

you make a good point, I think I'll buy today the L3+.

I was also thinking that maybe, if in the future mining LTC won't be profitable anymore, maybe I could swap to another coin. Altough right now the only other crypto would be Doge which is worth nothing.
Maybe the Reddit and Musk crazyness together will push Doge to 1$, making to mine it very profitable Grin
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is still profitable to buy an Antminer L3+ in 2021? on: February 16, 2021, 01:36:51 PM
thanks to both of you guys.

I'm just worried that the difficulty could grow in the next month, making the L3+ not profitable anymore.

As I said before, I'm not very expert about LTC mining, so I don't know if something is going to change soon.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is still profitable to buy an Antminer L3+ in 2021? on: February 16, 2021, 09:15:55 AM
Hi all,

Until now I just mined Monero with my PC.
I could buy an Antminer L3+ for 300€.
My electricity costs 0,03€.

According to several online calculator, mining LTC I should get a profit of 50/100€ per month (depending on the value of LTC obviously).

My question is: let's say that LTC will never go under the actual price, for how much time I could mine with a L3+ before it would be no profitable?

For what I understood, right now a L3+ can mine about 0,6 LTC per month. How much do you think it will be able to mine in a year?
