if you follow the "cash flow" boils down, he collected all the money for himself in order to "high quality assets"  to invest ... to have a good life at our expense

"Good life" is a bit of an overestimation. Per the last payout post, there were 2737672 assets paid to; given a price fluctuation of 0.07 to 0.1 NXT per asset and about $0.01 per NXT that's only roughly $2000 - $2700. We don't really have any way of knowing how many buyers may have been sockpuppets but it did pay out some money to some people at least so those numbers are high at best. Point being, I've seen Kickstarters regularly raise 4, 5, even 10 times this amount. A scam probably, but not one to retire on.

OK. I've had it up to here with the talks of getting on exchanges and market speculating and whatever. (not just DGB folks, the whole crypto community in general and sometimes even me) There's a billion flippin' coins fighting over a tiny segment of the population over and over and over and over and over again. Enough!  Angry

The team did something very clever by making Digibytetip work on LinkedIn. I don't know any other coins that have a flag in that space and it's arguably the most professional (English-speaking, I suppose) social network out there. Anything that works over LinkedIn can ride on the site's respectability. If you're really interested in making DGB fly, here's my suggestion.

Get yourself around $30-$50 worth of DGB and pick 6-10 people who have endorsed you for a skill. Send each one $5 (or Euro or whatever) worth of DGB - enough to get an Amazon card from eGifter - with a thank-you note for their endorsement. Of course also include that you can help them redeem the DGB (via Shapeshift) if they want. These are people who know who you are, trust you and will likely to be happy to get a $5 gift card. More importantly, they're people no one else is likely talking to. We can fight over exchanges and prices and such all day or we can step out of this little cryptobubble we all live in and find a much bigger world to introduce to DGB.

It's not hard math exactly but I can vouch that SHA DGB mining has been in the tank recently. I have a 30 GH/s Rockminer I use mostly for the lolz and up until last week I'd get maybe 1.5-2.5k/day on blocksfactrory. Recently that number sank to about 400 DGB/day tops.

Is this just a pump/dump or is there some news that precipitated this new push?  Huh

There are definitely news and development pushing the long-term DGB price increase. This particular spike is a pump. I sold off a portion to take advantage of the bubble but will buy back in once it settles out. Slow and steady.

Digibyte  also have litebit as a euro-dgb processor.

Euros don't help me much here in the States and I'm not aware of other USD to DGB bridges yet, though I could just be out of the loop.

That price is monthly based. "Add your altcoin to our default secure cloud platform. Price is monthly!"

Gragh. I didn't catch that. Good save. I still think it might be worth keeping in mind at least. Maybe in the short-term run up to another big DGB project completion we could pay for a few months temporarily to help barrier to entry?

Let's get on another payment service!!! Cointopay is offering to add any crypto to their lineup for 25 Euros. 25. That's dinner. That's nothing. I'm not entirely sure who uses Cointopay; they're a Dutch company so maybe any Dutch DGB enthusiasts might be able to shed some light on this? Even if they're not a huge processor, just being able to say we have a DGB-friendly processor is a good step. Even more importantly, they use Payeer for incoming fiat which gives us a fiat-to-DGB bridge. Seriously. 25 Euros. This is a steal. I'll throw in. Who's with me?

I did a few times over twitter, but no response or whatsoever.
They will NOT add us until we really have something to show them.

As I said previously this type of thing requires a bit of hard work and very formal invitation or proposal, that would be better if contacted by the dev team or Jared.
And Jared said, they need some more time to get in touch with those exchanges etc...

Hello,

We need to see that the coin has significant trade volume - once we see that, then we consider adding it.

Kind regards,
Beorn

That would be awesome of course!Great initiative to contact them!

Here is the conversation and maybe it's enough when people RT,FAV and give some positive feedback on it.

I emailed them asking what the process and criteria are for getting a coin listed. If we have some idea of what they're looking for, we can round up the appropriate resources.

24 caught wind of a conversation I was having with Shapeshift over twitter and suggested getting DGB on their service. I think this is a great idea and am contacting them now. Has anyone else touched base with them about adding DGB?

You have to do it via command line. Click on Help, Debug Window, Console tab

If your private key is abcd12345678, then you would type:

importprivkey abcd12345678

Ahhh ok. ::presses a bunch of buttons:: Bingo. Got all my DGB back and in one place. Thanks!

I redownloaded the Android wallet - it works well and updates to the current block. When I try to import my private keys from the previous wallets, though, the network updater crashes at block 145000. Any ideas?

related question - where is the import private key option on the desktop wallet?

What's the news on the Android wallet post-fork? I have a wallet on a device I don't use much as a sort of mostly-cold storage but it stopped at block 400000. I'd like to (a) send more DGB to it and (b) see the 10k or so I sent to that address shortly after the fork.

I just saw the news!!!!  Shocked  Congrats!!  Grin  I knew you guys would come through sooner or later. Not sure what the next phase of your plans are but my offer to help purchase and subsidize Prypto cards still stands if and when that becomes a useful tool. Shame my DGB got lost over the course of my recent move. Eh, such is life. I've got my miner back in working shape finally and a bunch of DOGE that (sadly) doesn't look like it's going to be much use in the foreseeable future so I suppose it's time to buy back in. Great work!

edit: I've also alerted Altcoin Herald. I'll see if I can get them to run an article about this.

About the point Cuban makes, however, that the central banks won't allow btc to succeed, I seriously wonder about their intentions, first, and their ability to bring real buisness out of the crypto market for second.

When people say "the central banks and the gov't won't let crypto succeed," what they probably ought to be saying is "the banks and the gov't will absorb the technology such that independent cryptos will be pushed to the side," not the sort of Gandalf YOU SHALL NOT PASS that the statement sounds like. F'rexample, VISACoin is inevitable - it's really just a matter of time in determining how long it will take them to implement an internal blockchain (or variant thereof). The question for independent cryptos like DGB is not really a matter of how good the tech is (it's open source, VISA can just copypasta), it's what does DGB offer that VISACoin doesn't?

Independence is itself a thing to offer, though consumers will weigh "look this is independent and awesome!" versus "VISA already gets me everything I need, why use this indie coin?" DGB specifically can offer multi-algo mining which, while not likely a permanent solution to the tech arms race, at least grants a good bit of breathing room other coins won't have.

Looking even further ahead, I'd be willing to bet some DGB that the same corporate branding/groupthink/self-expression weirdness that permeates all other aspects of society will come to crypto as well. The difference in quality between an American Eagle shirt and a Banana Republic shirt (pardon my Amerocentricity for a moment) in terms of quality is minimal, but the choice says something about the beliefs and social circles of the wearer. Ditto for the fans of classic rock vs. pop rock vs. indie rock. Even if eUSD or VISACoin become the dominant electronic currency, libertarian hipsters will want to use BTC because Cult Of Satoshi, upcoming 20-somethings will want to use Doge because nostalgia and pineapples or whatever, folks who think mining is fun will be on DGB and/or Myriad because hey my GPU still works, so on and so on. (Exaggerating for effect here. Read with some humor and facetiousness)

Tech is good and important, but it's easy to forget that the end user of crypto is people; people on the whole are notoriously illogical, often badly-informed and make decisions individually based on wildly different priorities. Even the "dominant" coin isn't going to be 100% market share. The fact that Hindi is the official language of India doesn't stop the citizens of each state from using their own dialects anyway, nor does the dominance of USD (or CNY as the case may be) prevent Poland from printing and dealing in zloty.  We have to stop thinking in terms of One Coin To Rule Them All. It doesn't work that way. People don't work that way.

BlueDragon -

Hi! I don't think we've met before. I'm a rep for Prypto. Caught your little tiff with Bryce on Twitter the other day which is how I found out about you and your projects. We're really interested in working with game devs to help promote their product by way of producing crypto retail gift cards. Like you buy Wii Points or Microsoft Points, we want to get indie developers' cryptocurrencies into places like GameStop and Target as well. I personally also have a few connections with the games industry, mostly via The Escapist, which might help improve your publicity. Is this something that would interest and you and if so, what's the best method of communication?

Digibyte, Need feedback to make this happen.

Yep. Got my finger on the proverbial trigger, just waiting.

OK, so i got in touch with Prypto HQ and they can get the codes done in time. It will, however, be about 0.85 BTC + DGB instead of 0.3 because DGB is not currently a supported coin. The upshot to that is that if DGB orders physical cards in the future, some of the costs normally associated with the first printing of a certain card will already have been paid so they'll come cheaper.

I'll match 24hralt's 75,000 DGB toward the fund and cover about 10% of the fees (0.08 BTC). We can make this happen.

How are they held securely and indefinitely?

Cold storage. When you redeem a code, you're basically emptying a cold wallet using Prypto's security codes as an intermediary.
