User 1 is MrSam with a slow or non-existent miner
User 2-5 is Mr Sam's buddies that pay mr sam 1% of their shares,
user 6- are suckers that pay MrSam .5% and his buddies .5% of their shares,
more users are suckers that pay MrSam .3% and his buddies .3% and the previous people .3% of their shares...

See how it is shaped like a pyramid? With the bottom 80% paying a 1% fee to enrich the top? They pay .5 BTC per round to people who don't even have to mine any more. Deepbit makes 1.5 BTC a round for not mining though, so I guess it's not tragic.

The web site says something different than the top post about the payment structure, and neither give enough detail of the payment scheme to see how pyramid-y it is.
That's not how it works. The person you quoted got it right. You only get shares for those that directly joined your minipool.

You aren't going to get any sales with PayPal as your payment method. Tongue
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I can't solo mine in GUIMiner? on: July 04, 2011, 07:17:03 AM
It says "Connecting..." and never updates. I've left it overnight and it hasn't changed. Before it gave this error: "Error 80072EFD:  A connection with the server could not be established" but now it doesn't give any error at all. It just sits there.

I see the same phenomena. I have 2 Mh/s but it sometimes reports around 15 Cool
13  Other / Beginners & Help / I can't solo mine in GUIMiner? on: July 04, 2011, 05:35:31 AM
Ok, I realize that it's stupid to solo mine like this, but I just want to know why it doesn't work now, in the case that I decide to solo mine later. But I can't get GUIMiner to let me mine at all.

I set the username and password beforehand, as well as set the bitcoin client path and launched it as a server.

These are my settings in GUIMiner
host: localhost
port: 8332
username: (hidden)
password: (hidden)
extra flags: no
using CUDA CPU miner to test it out. (kidding, I don't actually have a GPU Tongue )
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Triplemining is broken on: July 04, 2011, 04:27:47 AM
Well, at least, Triplemining's login system is broken for me. I have to repeatedly use "Lost Password" because it will never accept my password. Tongue Also, I noticed that "estimated rewards" slowly drains over time if you aren't mining, or haven't found a share. What is the meaning of this?!  Huh

EDIT: That's weird... It's accepting my password now... but the draining is still occuring, and I've noticed it doesn't consistently list my MH/s.

Heyo, I'm a newbie playing with Bitcoins, and fundraising a bit by having people mine with me at Triplemining. I ran a Minecraft Classic server (epicCreations.org Freebuild) until it was compromised a small time ago. I started fundraising for a new VPS just recently, and decided that this might be a good way to have others fundraise even if they don't have the resources or means to donate. I'm hoping it will prove fruitful Smiley

That's not true! I've mined around half you can get from visiting the Bitcoin Faucet (~0.0005BTC) Tongue

Darn you! My awful 300kh/s CPU mining is insufficient for this! Tongue
18  Other / Beginners & Help / My thoughts on Bitcoin on: July 02, 2011, 08:05:44 AM
Firstly, I'll introduce myself. I go by epicCreations(.org) on many forums, servers, etc. and as you might imagine I own that domain, and run that website. I was the owner and manager of a Minecraft server until recently, and after hearing about Bitcoin I was quite intrigued. So far, I've got 0.001 BTC (not including the around 0.00001~ BTC collectively from CPU mining Cheesy) and I've got to say, the idea of Bitcoin is kind of thrilling, and interesting. I plan to use Bitcoin as a fundraising tool, and equip members of my former server with a primitive CPU miner (or a GPU miner on the offchance they have a powerful GPU) so they can help raise a little Bitcoin for a new VPS. It'll take a long time, I'm aware, but many of the members don't have the resources to provide for a new server monetarily, and that includes myself. Tongue

Additionally... I saw the topic "BIT-FU", and tried to report a bug I found, but it was in vain, as I can only post in the Newbies forum. I'll put the bug here in the offchance the OP of that topic finds it.  The bug is a replication of the previous matches upon the pages refresh of the pending match invitations, I believe. I have an image here:

You can see that there is six matches in the screenshot, but I've only had 3 so far. Additionally, there is a cosmetic flaw there, as you can see that the name doesn't have an outline in the font/image...

Anyways, there's my brief introduction and my, uh, not very deep thoughts on Bitcoin. Thanks for having me, Bitcoin Forums. Smiley
