1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Bitmain S9 pinout on: May 18, 2021, 01:41:40 AM
Can anyone supply a diagram of the 6 pin power connector pin out used on the Bitmain S9?

I'm wanting to power one with an ATX PSU. but I'm thinking that an adapter or breakout board is needed.........

3  Bitcoin / Pools / Strangr ViaBTC push on: April 15, 2021, 04:36:06 PM
I am looking at pools to join and when I got to ViaBTC I (or my virus protection) discovered that they were trying to push "Name: not-a-virus:HEUR:RiskTool.Script.BitMiner.gen" to my computer.

Dose anyone know what this is all about?

Has anyone found a pool that accepts less than .001 BTC that they like?

kano.is will payout less than that, but your hash rate needs to be above the dust level which is probably around 500Ghs or so.

Asking about pools tends to get a bit ugly sometimes as we all have differing opinions on what constitutes a good pool to us.

Sorry not wanting to  start a firefight  Smiley

And another question (or two)...................

As I look at the various mining pools I see a minimum withdrawal of .001 BTC.

Has anyone found a pool that accepts less than .001 BTC that they like?

Are you doing solo in hopes of success or just waiting for the payout?

What pools do you like and why?

Sorry for all the questions....................

Update...............

I bumped the frequency up to 200 MHz and now I'm measuring:
83 deg. F. to 89 deg. F. on the boards
79 deg. F. to 85 deg. F. on the heat sink

This is after at least 8 hours of continuous running.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: April 10, 2021, 11:19:22 PM
New question......
I'm currently running 4 Gekkoscience-newpac @150 MHz on a gekkoscience hub being cooled by two ARCTIC Breeze blowing on them.
The heat-sink temps range from 79 deg. F. to 87 deg. F. and the board temps range from 81 deg. F. to 85 deg. F. after 8 hours of solid running.

The ambient room temperature is between 75 deg. F. and 76 deg. F.

My question is how much higher can I SAFELY raise the frequency and maintain a safe stable environment?

Make sure you have good cooling on your sticks as you ramp up your frequency.

Yup got a pair of ARCTIC Breeze blowing on them  Smiley

I finally found and changed the frequency in the cgminer.conf file...............

Well that tool a while but I'm now at 150MHz................

I finally found and changed the cgminer.conf file.
It was hiding at : /root/.cgminer/cgminer.conf

I think it ends in .conf

THANKS !

Any thoughts on which of them to look for the frequency parameter or whit it might be called so I can search for it?

I think it ends in .conf

I've looked through the CGminer folder and found no files ending with .conf, additionally I've searched through the configuration files mentioned above.

I've also read the READ ME file but I cannot see where the Gekko Variables (arguments) are stored.

Please do not tell me that I will need to recompile the CGminer.

Am I to believe that it is impossible to change the frequency with the argument " --gekko-newpac-freq xxx" once compiled?

I have the following:
configure.ac
configure
config sub
config.status
config.log
config.h.in
config.h
config.guess

Think it might be configure?
I searched it for freq and frequency but found nothing, I guess I could look for 100.........

What do you think?
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: April 09, 2021, 04:23:49 PM
In CGMiner you should see T:150 where mine above says T:650.  That is the target CGMiner is trying for.  If you didn't see the T:150 then something is telling CGMiner to target 100 Mhz instead.  Someone asked to check your .conf file for conflicting commands.

Nice we are starting to get there.

In CGminer i see T:100.

So something is really set to a freq of 100.
In looking in CGminer I see no less than 8 files referring to configuration or config.
Any thoughts on which of them to look for the frequency parameter or whit it might be called so I can search for it?

Three people have asked you multiple questions.  You could try answering some of them, maybe.

Shure I'll try...From the top...........

I thought bravo mining pool was closed?

Also we need more info on your setup. What hub, what OS etc etc etc

Sorry if I confused anyone, I'll try again.

I've been using the following script for several weeks now with one to four (4) newpacs mining successfully.
"cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.(my mining pool address):3333 -(user name)  (password) -p x --suggest diff 1 --gekko-newpac-freq 100"

Today I changed "gekko-newpac-freq 100" to "gekko-newpac-freq 150" in the above script.

And I saw no change in frequency..... It stayed at 100.00 MHZ and I waited for it to change for 20 minutes.

Currently I have four (4) successfully mining with the script changed to "gekko-newpac-freq 150" all Four (4) show a frequency of 100 MHZ with 22 plus change Gh/s.

OS is Linux on Rasberry Pi4 driving a Gekkoscience hub.

That was my thought too.  Johnny closed his pool and the thread.

I changed "gekko-newpac-freq 100" to "gekko-newpac-freq 150"

And I saw no change in frequency..... It stayed at 100.

Does the target say 150?

How long did you wait?  The auto tune can take a while.

Target??? the only reference is in my script which I changed to "gekko-newpac-freq 150".
So its been over 18 hours and I'm still mining at 100 Mhz.

Did you ever create a config file in cgminer? If so it could be overriding your scripts command to up the freq.

The only change or thing I've done was with the scrip as mentioned before.

Did you run it direct from your morherboard usb port?

I'm using a Gekkoscience hub as mentioned before.
15  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Trouble setting frequency for gekkoscience newpac in cgminer on: April 09, 2021, 01:23:20 PM
I am running cgminer on a rasberry pi4 (linux).

It is now 18 hours later and I'm still mining at 100 MHz.

I've asked the folks on the Gekkoscience area but I thought I'd try here as well.

Could there be a file in cgminer that is setting the frequency to 100 MHz and not responding to my script?

Any thoughts?

I've been successfully using from 1 to four gekkoscience newpac miners for a few weeks now.

Today I decided to try my hand at overclocking them.

Using the following type command:
"cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -user - password -p x --suggested diff 1 --gekko-newpac-freq 100"

I changed "gekko-newpac-freq 100" to "gekko-newpac-freq 150"

And I saw no change in frequency..... It stayed at 100.
Power cycling did not accomplish anything.

Any suggestions?

I'm wondering if someone can help me.

I'm attempting to install cgminer on a Rasberry pi 4 to ultimately control an GekkoScience NEWPAC or two.

In following the instructions on page 1, when I enter the line "git clone -b r606 https://github.com/vthoang/cgminer.git" and try to execute it I get an error message saying that it dose not exist.

I've looked at that directory on github and I see that ie dose exist so I'm a bit confused as to what I'm doing wrong.
