Thanks for the new version.

The "Intensity < 0 = 100% CPU" Issue ist still there.
I have upgraded to APP SDK 2.5 to see if it would make any difference but it does not.

Is there anything I could do to have less GPU usage while not maxing CPU usage?

EDIT: To answer my question: Everything works fine when I set "gpu-threads" : "1", in the conf file.
I have tried: "bfgminer -g 1 -I -5" but it is completely ignored when a .conf file is present.

Windows 64-bit 3.1.0 is broken for GPU mining.
Either turn it off with the -G option or replace the EXE with this fixed one until 3.1.1.

Thanks now it works again. One problem though:
Intensity settings > 0 don't seem to have a lot of effect (compared to 3.0.2)
Intensity settings < 0 reduce GPU usage properly but consume huge amounts of CPU (2 cores 100%)
Dynamic works great (low CPU usage, good hashing performance)

Maybe it is related to the debug build?

EDIT: when looking at bfg's threads there are the two gpu threads that seem to use all the cycles:
atiocl64.dll!clGetSamplerInfo+0x36a80
They also exist for dynamic intensity but only with 0.5% CPU instead of double digits.

Thanks for the guide, I will try with the newer drivers.
The drivers I have now are best for my gaming & TV & mining needs, so am I am hesitant to change my config.

In the meantime I was able to find the Addresses I was looking for with vanitygen64 on my CPU (was amazingly quite fast for 5 letters).

I can only try again when I delete the 4.4MB (-S) or 6MB .bin file and recompile.

Any ideas?

SatoshiDICE advanced states: "All the bets from one transaction will have the same lucky number"

Why is that then:

To answer my own question:

Apparently there is a problem when you use the ATI Stream SDK 2.2 and just copy over the atiocl.dll from version 2.1

What works like a charm though is this:

  • Install ATI Stream SDK 2.1
    poclbm won't detect OpenCL for me then
  • Replace c:\windows\system32\OpenCL.dll (32bit) with the file from ATI Stream SDK 2.2 (which is OpenCL 1.1)

Then I can mine quite a bit faster with Catalyst 10.10 installed.

I had ATI Stream SDK 2.2 install with Catalyst 10.10 on a 5870

everything was fine, except for some dropouts to about 8 MH from time to time.
So I tried SDK 2.1 which includes OpenCL.dll Version 1.0
