how is dash going to compete with segwit for insta~send.... ?
Segwit is only creating an extented block (the segrated witness) to remove data (transactions signatures) from the orignal block to free some space. It has nothing to do with the speed of a transaction. Dash Instasend use the masternode network to validate 6 confirmations presto (in a matter of seconds) based on a quorum. Frankly, segwit is a weird tweak to increase the blockchain size without increasing the 1MB minable blocksize. |

Any problems with today's payout ?
I'm mining X11 algo on xpool.ca and got paid 0.00047513 for a shift of approx 43 Mh/s - 24 hours!
During the pending phase this morning it was showing that I was representing 6% of the pool hash, after the payout it changed to 0.0011 %...

Another of my stupid questions:
All manuals on masternodes are saying how ports should be closed and how root account should not be used.. Personally I use root login with 15 chars long password and cold wallet set-up and did not bother closing the ports - can ANYTHING really happen to me?
My guess is 99.9% not but still would like to get a second opinion. Everyone is saying how root should not be used but I do not see the danger with the cold wallet & decent pw.
My dear drobek, we were all once newbies at everything, and will always be newbies at somethings. Once you understand something, you can often profit by going against the stream, but in an area where you are a newbie, statements like this are dangerous if not foolhardy: "Everyone is saying how root should not be used but I do not see the danger with the cold wallet & decent pw. " Your cold wallet may be safe, but if your machine is compromised you may be subject to all sorts of future grief... not to mention the possible eventual loss of any funds/information that pass through or are produced by it. IMHO. Thank you for your reply strix. While the statement indeed sounds naive I still wonder how anyone can guess/force a decent password. Have talked to a few people who were hacked and almost all of them had either simple pw or pw they reused on multiple occasions. At this point I think that a combo of decent PW and frequent apt-get update/upgrade may be adequate for cold wallet set up but still preferred to get a second opinion to running everything as a root. I'm a sys/net admin with 15+ years of experience and I can tell you that the biggest threat is YOURSELF! Just make a typo as root and kiss your system goodbye! Happened to me twice, I have learned the hard way... Wow, lot of hatred since this morning! That was a pretty awesome launch compared to Heavycoin (no pools for 26 hours), Darkcoin (weird high block rewards before wallet release) and all the scamcoins... So to even the score I want to highlight some positive events: Congrats to the Minep.it team: I have switched my 25 MH/s from OkayPool to Minep.it, everything is running smooooth and the dashboard interface is awsome! The transactions fees at okaypool are prohibitive! Awesome network!: First day and already 4.7 GH/s over the network! Hi I would like to know where I can get the program for windows SGMINER, how to set it up I will be mining from suchpool based in montreal (yay!) do I need a .bat file if so what needs to be written in it exactly? I looked on the suchpool site for help but it shows how to setup the command line for darkcoin I want for quebecois coin thanks/Merci oh and please a response before 8 am (launch time) would be awesome!
