1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Discounted Heating for Low Income Families in Cold Regions via ASIC Miner Loans on: March 11, 2015, 07:13:28 AM
OP's idea makes sense.

If you receive >50 cents for each dollar you spend on electricity, and you strike a deal with someone willing to pay 50% of the cost... then my sir... you have a lucrative business.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Got ROI in 40 days with my Antminer S3+ on: March 03, 2015, 08:46:09 AM
Same here in Europe. When it's cold and I anyway would need electric heating, I turn on miners. For every 1 EUR spent on electricity I get back around 50 cents.

Conuterparty betting/smart contracts.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Import Keys to Paperwallet on: January 26, 2015, 11:38:03 AM
I've generated some vanity addresses with vanitygen
but I don't know how to print them as QR codes.

Is there any offline (e.g. javascript) way of doing this?

The best I could find was Bitaddress, but it only lets you import one key. I'd prefer to have 5-7 addresses on one sheet.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin eBooks on: January 08, 2015, 07:50:48 AM
May you recommend eBooks about Bitcoin?

Free eBooks are particularly interesting.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / List of Brainwallets / Paper Wallets on: January 08, 2015, 07:37:40 AM
Here's a list of Bitcoin Brainwallets and Paper Wallets.

Do you know any others?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Search for Address on: January 05, 2015, 07:40:47 AM
Paper wallet, smartphone wallet ...

Sometimes I want to transfer from PC to such a wallet. Now I need to write the entire address - would be great to write only the first few characters...
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to Search for Address on: January 05, 2015, 07:33:32 AM
Is there a way to look up any address online by typing the first few characters?

Say I want to find 1ESvmL4k3wHsthoADGD5EQXmyaCCHnYQei; it would be great to type in only 1ESvmL and then get the entire address.

Obviously such a service would only work for addresses that have at least one transaction.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Probability of Next Block Within 10 Minutes on: December 27, 2014, 09:40:41 AM
What is the probability that the next block will be found within 10 minutes from now?

Or within 1 minute?
Or 10 seconds?
Or 1 second?
12  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What can I use Bitcoin miners for other than mining? on: November 17, 2014, 04:11:47 PM
Can the machines not be reconfigured to support / mine / sustain any other blockchain technologies ?

You can mine testnet Bitcoins. They are supposed to be worthless though.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What happened to true anonymity? on: November 16, 2014, 01:49:25 PM
A year ago there was talk about a side-chain, Zerocoin (?) - what happened to it?
There's been a lot of hyping of a a Dark Wallet - but not much lately. Are the devs on the right track or has the project been abandoned?

And there's of course the altcoins. Darkcoin, Kryptonite, Monero - do any of these really have anything to offer, or are they just premine pump-n-dump?

Should we just conclude that Bitcoin is pseudonymous - and accept it for what it is  Huh
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: November 14, 2014, 09:27:09 AM
I have a Monero wallet with private key, but I do not want to wait for bitmonerod to sync.

Is there any web-wallet or similar where I can import the private key?
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Distribue Multisig Keys on: October 30, 2014, 09:13:46 AM
Hmm, I still don't really get it.   Huh
Is there a website where I can test it out?
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to Distribue Multisig Keys on: October 29, 2014, 05:48:33 PM
I want to generate a multisig address. Alice, Bob and I shall have one key each.
How can I give keys to Alice and Bob and prove that I have not seen their keys?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: October 22, 2014, 07:05:40 AM
Why dogeparty?
Who is developing dogeparty?

Dogeparty has leveraged part of the Dogecoin community and has a number of independent developers building out apps already. That's the biggest advantage Dogeparty has over Clearinghouse, a huge built in community that's already partially activated.

Dogeparty is being developed by the Humint team.

http://www.humint.is/

Both Counterparty and Dogeparty were created through proof-of-burn. The developers did not raise any money. Rather they had to participate in the burn like everyone else.
I don't know Clearinghouse. May someone explain how they did it?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: October 16, 2014, 08:08:19 AM
Gentlemen, I lost 5500 XCP.

Consider this as a gift to the  Counterparty community.  Grin
How?sorry to hear that.

I copied a new passphrase on counterwallet to transfer my XCP, but I forgot to write it/paste it down..
I transfered my XCP, copied smthg else and.. it was gone.

 Embarrassed

Are you sure the XCP got transferred? I looked at blockscan, and there is no address with 5500XCP, nor has any addresses with roughly that amount been newly deposited.
There's a slight chance you were  lucky - exchanges sometimes screw up withdrawals. Login to the exchange and see. If there was error, contact them immediately and tell them to cancel the withdrawal.
19  Economy / Currency exchange / Testnet Bitcoins for Sale - BTC 0.0001 each on: October 15, 2014, 07:17:11 AM
If you need Testnet coins, you can mine some or get a few from a faucet.

If you require a larger amount, you can buy from me for BTC 0.0001 each.

PM me if interested.
20  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What can I use Bitcoin miners for other than mining? on: October 10, 2014, 07:14:04 AM
Why does everyone keep saying heat when this thing will have you in a hospital by 2016... Trust me your bitcoins won't help then. I think everyone is trying to sell their miners right now honestly

Why would heat from a Bitcoin miner be dangerous. My undervolted S1s run at only 40C. That's less than laptops, playstations, etc. I've never heard any report that heat from computers can be dangerous.
