1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Dosh-Kapital on: October 24, 2014, 07:16:19 AM
mere-mortal is there any future for DOSH? you are not posting any updates???

It goes with out saying that I wish Dosh to have a future, it was always my intention to do things cool and calmly, sort of a niche. That dose not mean that I am enjoying the situation at present, I was even thinking of doing an algo swap, just to get a block explorer and move things along. Basically premine what has been mined to date and swap the coins over a set period of time.

I don't want to create hype or put things in place that end up disappointing the community , and I feel I have asked enough times that people put pressure on to get a block explorer up, any more and it will be pittyfull.

Speculation is an important part of crypto, people want to mine or buy something that returns a profit.

Blockexplorer = exchange

Stating the obvious, as I am sure you know.

I'm assuming that block-explorers exist for other crytponite based coins, so is it just a matter of finding someone with the ability to host the website and backend, or is there more to it?

There are two main CryptoNight Block Explorers. Chainradar and MinerGate, and there is no open source that I know of, so it would need to be developed from scratch

Chainradar is possibly the most respected CryptoNote Block explorer and the timing of Dosh and other crypto launch unfortunately coincided with Chainradar potentially reaching saturation point in terms of resources. Minergate, just dose not reply to any mails I send. ( So visiting their Thread and expressing your wishes would be helpfull)

So its Chicken and egg, I cant offer any bounty or help to improve capacity on chainradar, as Dosh, at this point, has no value. To get value it needs to be traded. And exchanges require a block explorer.

QuadraQ, more than you asked for again, I know, but the question was appreciated.

If somebody wants to take over website, this thread and other communication resources please make an offer. So far nobody did.

Please explain what is stopping you from joining the revival of your creation. There are ways to make the dev and maintenance more cost effective, as thing stand now it could be self sustaining. You would still be able to spend time with loved ones etc, it seems you have taken a very hard arsed attitude, maybe its hard to accept the rebound.

If you follow any other CryptoNote threads, you will be aware that the sort of funds needed to take CryptoNote to where it needs to be will cost 100s of thousands, so my feeling is that if you are in the CryptoNote camp, you have a pioneering spirit, and know its for the long run, there is no entitlement and no quick bucks.

For that to fall on just one is a lot to ask, so the more the better

Hello. I am trying so sync the wallet but its seems that is not working. Simply it wont sync, starting but not receiving any blocks. Any help?

I have been trouble shooting this, dont know why it has started happening. But for now if you go into your user APPDATA Roaming folder and rename your P2Pstate.bin folder, it will sync.

Good to see that community is taking over.

There was no offer made yet, so we had to shut down the seed node to prevent additional costs.

Once community decides who will lead the development we're willing to give github access as well as other resources. It would be nice though, to get back at least part of money we invested. Partner negotiations for backing up the coin wasn't successful for us, but we hope that community will find ways how to push value of this coin up.

Good luck!

lol... surreal...  Grin (how much is worth a dead coin ?)
It would be good if it was possible to get part of the money I spent on electricity mining it (so I hope the community takeover will also pay for this...  Grin

coins not dead +100% in 24 hours with a few baby steps, I don't own a single Aeon, but that still puts a smile on my face

node 178.62.9.75

Not accessible. You need to open/forward/unblock port 11180 on your router/firewall/etc.

On that IP I saw that port TCP 14141 was open, but even if I assumed it was running aeond I wasn't able to get my aeond to use it with the commands:

--add-peer IP:PORT
--seed-node IP:PORT

It would still try and connect to the default port. Any ideas, I pinged you on IRC.

Apologies, I skimmed the thread and did not fully realise what smooth was looking for, I had a spare machine, but not a node with static IP that would be helpfull
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Aeon coin - CryptoNight - CPU only on: October 10, 2014, 02:28:30 PM
If anyone has a seed node (just any node on the network with a static IP and high uptime) let me know and I'll add it to my repo for anyone wants to continue to use this coin.

I don't intend to do new development but I will maintain the code with critical bug fixes from upstream.

In simple terms, this means, has anyone been mining consistently for the last while and can help smooth by letting him access your node. I think

So...there is a bit of activity in the market. A few buyers around, but, ....

All I was saying is it takes more than just keeping a coin alive, and I was prepared to do my part in a concerted effort, but smooth is with out doubt light years ahead of me, so it is a big plus he is helping.

Everyone is invited to contribute!

The only way this coin stays alive without someone investing money into it (which apparently didn't work) is the community pulling together.

For example, I could use someone to build Windows and Mac binaries. Not really my thing (I'm 100% Linux).

Agree. Enough infighting!

Still waiting for a node, any node...

node 178.62.9.75

If you can post the github when done I can help with win 64 binaries

Dev,
Any further development plan, such as GUI wallet??  Huh

Its all pretty quick to implement, I am just holding back till block explorer is available, which is taking a detrimentally long time. So for now I am purposefully keeping it a little bit harder using CLI

There are 4 opensource options out there, that require minor alterations to be used with any CryptoNote coin. No cryptoNote coin that has a fully open source GUI refers to it as their official GUI. I have pm'd GUI creators and had discussions with them, I just ask that one is patient in terms of GUI.

It does not help to make things to attractive if you cant get on an exchange.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Aeon coin - CryptoNight - CPU only on: October 02, 2014, 02:24:13 PM
So what is the latest? Is there any hope for this coin?

Recompiling the source with a new Seed is not a problem. Like Monero the crypto Aeon is a clone of it needs that guy with the money, I keep checking back to see if there is more interest. I have the hardware and the abilty to run it but not the marketing. So in a nut shell, more people need to step up, the price is low, its on an exchange, with two Market Makers can easily make itself onto HitBtc. I don't want to find myself in the same boat as the current/previous devs, on my other cryptos I keep it simple.

All things considered, it can be a very successful investment at current price

Back up or cut and past all your wallet files exept your .key file from the folder. Then try resincing your dosh.exe, then create new wallet with the same name, it should recreate for you.

So is mere-mortal taking over? Any news?

Kind of looks like the dev wants cash or he burns the project.

Dev if there are no cash offers put a number up.

Maybe someone can do it.

I am trying not to step on toes. I know that a lot of heart and sole goes into setting something like this up. So obviously am respecting or hoping that Aeon gets an offer.

Nobody's taking over?  Sad

I am still prepared to, if its OK with community, It would be nice to know if anyone has made an offer
I can also update the binaries to include a new seed node for the interim

It seems nobody has voted on the hitbtc Sad Sad

I think that it is going to take some time. and some lateral thinking is required.

I have created a blueprint on the exchange thread, that I would like some opinions on please, so check it out

PokerNote is a P2P poker tournament club-crypto and is part of The Outback

PokerNote tournaments will be Knockout where players will randomly selected to play 10 seater knockouts.

P2P Poker on the face of it may seem attractive, but has the disadvantage that on single table play it will be near impossible to prevent colluding. For this reason players will enter a tournament and then randomly be seated. Last few standing will move to the next round.

This will be done using the open source Peer to Peer poker software PokerTH.

There is no real-world value to PokerNotes and they are not yet Mined, players can enter for free on the following terms.

Download the PokerTH software and register with the same Nick as Bitcointalk, Pm if this has been done or if not possible, You will be entered into cup tournament, each player will add 10 PokerNotes to the Total that will go to the winner/ runners up.

It would be nice to favour a particular timezone, but this would once again favour colluding, so once a maximum of 100 players/ or after the cut-off for entry (this will depend on interest), players will be randomly selected for tables and those tables can discuss amongst themselves what time suites.

The following is open to discussion

  • Starting stack
  • Blind Structure
  • Reward structure

PokerNote and its development will allways favour social and legal Poker, but it is safe to say that there will be the possibility that Individuals will set up their own servers and run their own tournaments, as the software is opensource, we can have no control over this. This is a non-moderated thread, so they might even promote these tournaments here. We just advise that one is careful and uses common sense.
An example of common sense is that a server should never control or generate whatever reward you may receive for your skills, as this leaves things open to corruption.

On completion of Tournament, source code and binaries will be released for people to Mine PokerNote.  They will be mined in a short space of time and not exceed 500 000, any further will be created through Tx.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Holy Grail! I wish I could kiss the author of Bitmessage on his face. on: September 21, 2014, 07:50:01 AM
So what do the Snr's and legends think is going to come of this tech

Looks like just an encryption layer on top of existing centralized-server based communication mediums. BitMessage aimed to replace the actual communications channel with a decentralized peer-to-peer model, not just add encryption.

Isn't Bitmessage incorporated into Open Bazaar?

If you look at some of the videos on OpenTransactions, FellowT mentions that different encryption methods can be used for messaging and Bitmessage is one being used, at least that is my understanding, so is this thread a discussion solely about Bitmessage and its future, or its use within OT? Its a thread that was started in May 2013, and a lot has happened since.

Pretty much everything about OpenBazaar is a carbon copy of OpenTransaction, One Works through browser, the other a desktop client

I think this thread is mainly about OpenTransactions. Also, OT and OpenBazaar are very different from what I have seen so far. Sure, maybe you could make OpenTransactions do everything OpenBazaar does, but you would have to change a lot of the code and write a lot of your own, since one is specifically designed to issue digital tokens and trade them around, and the other is specifically made to market and sell physical products.

Fair enough, and I am not here to compare either. I believe there is more to OT than you say, and its Bazaar feature is what I am talking about, which is to market and sell physical products. Using multisig and bitmessage.
