1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX] on: July 23, 2014, 05:18:40 PM
Anyone got a link to the cuda 6.5 linux release files?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL][PROFIT-SHIFT] Coinshift.com, the first profit-shifting multipool on: July 06, 2014, 12:03:39 AM
I've noticed the VARDIFF is far too high for my gridseed blade, and a lot of work gets missed and rejects are too high. Blades like to run at diff 512, since there are actually two independent modules, rather than just one submitting the shares. Unfortunately, they cannot be split into two independent miners. Since it get's treated as as one, the VARDIFF goes too high and efficiency goes right down/ Has the option to manually set diff been implemented yet? Because this is otherwise a really nice pool. I've been looking for somewhere to switch to instead of nicehash, because I'm sick of spending most of my time getting work restarts, instability and constantly being retasked to different users.

Ignore the haters Christian. Without you, Nvidia users would be still in the dark when it came to mining. This guy has bought more equitable mining software to the table than anyone else. The problem here was using an algo that could be adapted to GPU's without putting in the work to make such any such mining software before release. With a big block reward, and the current price, the boolberry devs should be getting off the asses and making things happen.

My question would be, what are you doing with all the coins?? Not that it's any of my business, but the trading volume seems to suggest you are holding them.

Are there any instructions for getting monero working on Debian Wheezy?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update (01/06) - X11/PoS/Anon on: June 06, 2014, 08:52:03 AM
Nobody is concerned that basically all Gmaxwell's criticisms apply equally, if not more, to XC?

XC doesn't even purport to be trustless, and the overall implementation hasn't even been comprehensively described.

As he has said cryptonote and zerocash technology are the only novel and workable decentralised and trustless solutions thus far. A 'dynamic trust network' is neither trustless (the whole point of bitcoin and derivative technologies) nor decentralised since it relies on certain nominated nodes to provide specific tasks.

Everybody seems to be drinking a nice big cup of smug over the weaknesses of darkcoin (of which there are legion) while avoiding taking a look in their own back yard.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update (01/06) - X11/PoS/Anon on: June 04, 2014, 11:48:19 PM
Trust me when I say media attention is not really desirable while the "nodes-can-steal-money" issue remains.

Atcsecure already said dynamic trust system will prevent bad actors from stealing. Are you more or as qualified as him to present an argument opposing this? If so, let's hear it. Because all I've seen you do is offer up ungrounded "thesis statements" with no supporting arguments.  Not trying to troll, but I'd like to see a solid argument of why you oppose atcsecures method. Until then, nothing you say holds any water.

Any such 'dynamic trust system' seems vulnerable to the iterated prisoners dilemma by design. The goal of any blockchain based currency is fully trustless transactions. That's the entire killer app of bitcoin and bitcoin like systems. 'Dynamic trust models' represent a clear problem that has been *long* known about in the literature.

People should not keep deferring to somebodies resume to assume infallibility. Just because someone is obviously very smart does not mean they are not prone to attempting to 're-invent the wheel' without reference to fields they are not perhaps as familiar with.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | PoS | Multipool | Coinkite Launch June 1st! on: June 01, 2014, 10:20:44 PM
I think some people need to develop some perspective here and and stop cultivating such short memories. We had a pump and we had a dump. These things happen often to every coin.

However, we are trading at literally the same price we were yesterday before this peak and fall, and and still higher than we were the day before that. In fact, we have had stable gains for and entire MONTH.

We have been trending solidly upward all of May, and testing higher prices along the as we go. That's how it works.

Do NOT buy into meteoric price rises unless you know *exactly* what you are doing. The market will settle down and correct back to the mean. There is plenty of time to buy in afterward when the market settles back down into a more stable trend. I know FOMO is a thing, but just relax. Take your time.

If you do buy into one of these risky bubbles where the price rockets up incredibly fast... Don't be afraid to take some profit on the way up to rebalance your risk. Also, for the love of God MAKE SURE YOU YOURSELF A HARD LIMIT AHEAD OF TIME WHERE YOU SELL TO CUT YOUR LOSSES IF IT STARTS TO GO SOUTH. Perhaps, say 10% or something, and STICK TO IT. Don't get caught buying right at the top of a pump and watch all your value spiral into the ground. Take a manageable loss. It's never pleasant locking in a loss, but at least you will live to fight another day. There are always going to be other opportunities. You are not helping the the coin by just handing off your money to some dumper. A lot of people like to say shit like 'weak hands' or 'lol cheap coins!' ignore that stupid noise.

Pick carefully, and accumulate. Buy smaller amounts over a longer period of time to average out the peaks and troughs in the price rather than loading up all at once.

Don't blame others for 'FUD' or freak out about whales. Such things are transitory, and you have no control over them anyway.

Well credit where it's due, the XC blockchain appears to be moving at something approaching a reasonable speed now.

as expected, create some hype around coinkite, let it rise and dump all over those new bagholders

/golfclap

thanks for 3btc more on my side

You have 35 posts, and *every single one of them* has been in this thread making odiously smug negative trolling comments. I mean, seriously. What's your deal? Did someone here fuck your girlfriend or something? Why do you bother? Why do you ONLY post here?

I mean just move on with your life! There are plenty of other coins our there, goodness knows.

It's starting to sound pathologically obsessive. Or at the very least, like the child who endlessly teases the girl he secretly likes because he lacks the development to properly articulate his emotions. Most people grow out of that phase when they are 6-12 man.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Uncensored XC thread on: June 01, 2014, 01:02:11 PM
Even setting aside the Anon garbage, this has to be one of the worst POS coins ever created:

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/xc/#

Seriously? That's the slowest POS blockchain I have ever seen. Not to mention, endless issues with staking and wallet sync issues. Just terrible. The reason you know loljosh created it is because he also created SYNC, and if you check their thread, they have *exactly the same issues.*

Most POS coins, like BlackCoin for example (or almost any other properly developed POS coin) get a confirmation of a transaction in 10-30 secs. POS blocks are consistently generated in under one minute. Staking is painless. Checkpointing is properly implemented. I don't know what the hell is going on with XC's kludge, but if it can't even sort out this kind of elementary stuff, how the hell do you propose to trust it with some kind of 'paradigm breaking' anon tech?

Red flags all over the place.

Can't believe I invested in this thing. Oh well, out now!
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Uncensored XC thread on: May 31, 2014, 07:50:00 AM
This thread is funny. Here we are at the cutting edge of a system, a technology and knowledge that could benefit all of mankind, yet we find these childish arguments.
Lets look at the big picture

Let's just look at the evidence instead, and dispense with the grandiose claims. Healthy skepticism is hardly childish when it comes to investing money.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 30, 2014, 01:44:05 PM
Frankly, the overzealous moderation of this forum is ridiculous. I perfectly understand the deletion of transparent FUD and trolling, but asking legitimate questions in what is an investment environment and having them deleted is just a violation of trust and any spirit of open dialogue.

I made no comparisons to a 'fedoracoin' mixer or suchlike in my post, and frankly that wasn't my question.

If questions are merely deleted because the moderator considers a deflection from the dev to be an answer, then we are in a truly silly situation.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 30, 2014, 01:16:31 PM
Apart from a simple denial, there hasn't been any explanation as to what what was the payment to loljosh was for. His business is providing coins on spec, and the trust review came exactly one day after the coin launch.

I'm not trying to fud, but some more transparency here would be good to clarify the nature of the transaction that took place and to reassure the market. What was the nature of the dealings with loljosh?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LIBERTYCOIN][XLB] X11 | 100% POS | No IPO | No Premine | Cryptsy & Mintpal on: May 28, 2014, 01:42:43 AM
To my troll friends from BC. Your ever burning hate consumes you and it shows. Get over it, BC is my past. Following me around a forum is not going to bring you closure, it just shows how needy you are for resolution. Each time you hold and use your BC cards you are holding something I created and it pisses you off. I will always be a part of BC whether you like it or not so the joke is on you

Trolls for XLB. People were only here supporting this coin because I was here, period. When I left, they all left. This coin is dead and anyone buying XLB is either stupid and/or greedy. There will not be a comeback or a resurrection because the dev never intended for this coin to succeed. We were ALL scammed including me, and now I will move on.

You're so narcissistic, you don't even know when to stop digging. You're the Eric Cartman of crypto. If people dislike you, it's because you have consistently given them reason to due to your reprehensible behaviour. Nobody scammed you, that much is painfully obvious. You did, however, singlehandedly torpedo everyones investments here with your silly tantrum and totally factually unsupported FUD.

Frankly, it's pretty obvious you dumped your whole wad and invented this wholly constructed drama to try and blame somebody else. Which seems to be standard operating procedure for you. Pump, then dump leaving all the people who trusted you holding the bag while whining about how it was somebody else's fault. You're even dumb enough to post PM's that fully support this notion.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LIBERTYCOIN][XLB] X11 | 100% POS | No IPO | No Premine | Cryptsy & Mintpal on: May 28, 2014, 01:04:17 AM
Some random idiot posts something that is baseless.

Does that look like a lie to you? This coin is DEAD. The dev has already moved on and is just trying to dup the last bit of his coins.

Nope, it sounds like somebody being reasonable and you spitting the dummy.

You made an announcement saying you were taking over as LEAD DEV of the coin, without even apparently speaking to the existing dev's about it beforehand. Then when they refuse to go along with your blatant coup and request more dialog with you (IRC logs back this up) you resort to threats, tell them to go fuck themselves and say you are 'forking' the coin.

Then you post to twitter how nasty the devs are, and how they are dumping, and tell everyone that you are out and to dump the coin.

The only one that dumped was you. You're a scam artist who blames everyone else as a way of directing attention away from your own blatant bullshit.

Hopefully, everybody is wise to your behaviour now, and you won't have another chance to fuck up another coin or start drama anywhere else. Seriously, you are one shady and consistently poisonous personality. Everything you touch ends with the same outcome. Go away, and never come back.

19  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners (Scrypt ASIC seller) independent feedback thread on: May 24, 2014, 02:24:11 AM
Last time I posted in this thread I was pretty disenchanted about the whole experience of purchasing and running a hosted blade with GAW. Happily, the downtime problems seem to have been basically eliminated. Luke, one of the tech support guys also hooked me up with 24 hours of hashing on several blades rather than my usual one, to make up for the downtime which was an effective gesture. Prior to this point I was pretty much ready to throw the towel in, and even asked for a refund, but they seem to have really turned things around. My blade hasn't been offline for any noticeable period since, except if I am restarting it.

I was also able to get store credit left over from another return and purchase refunded back to my credit card too, which was really appreciated.

Obviously, the business has gone through some growing pains and required more than the usual share of patience from some of it's customers, particularly regarding it's hosting, but they have obviously put in the effort to rectify this and things seem pretty spot on now.

It would be nice to have email alerts for downtime, but so far I haven't run into any issues.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SYNC]X11 | POS| 1,000 Coins| Mandatory Update on: May 24, 2014, 01:25:15 AM
Honestly, I hope it works out, and any of these potential obstacles can be overcome or simply clarified. I'm not trying to lose anyone money, and I held some sync myself.

However, people should know some of the risks involved in this particular instance so they can make more informed choices. Too often these threads are a bunch of people just telling each other how many Ferrari's they are going to own when it all takes off, rather than being more hardheaded about their investments. Either that, or they wilfully ignore and shout down any glaring issues just to pump their assets and leave some other sucker with the bag. Which is scummy behaviour.

A realistic conversation should be possible.
